Yes there are definitely stringbeds that favor different strokes. I've attacked that problem by having different racquets for doubles where I need control and flatter strokes and singles, where I need more topspin strokes. That way I can still use a string bed that offers comfort, spin and touch in equal amounts.
18x20 in the doubles racket, 16x18 in the singles. O/V or gut/poly in either or both and I'm good to play.
I’m on that page as well. 6.1 95 18x20 for doubles a good bit because of how well it controls the ball on returns and the more powerful RF97 16x19 for singles. String choices basically the same. Once I warm up with one of those two frames, ready to go. Not the case with many other racquets have used over the years.
