ATP ranking is all about points, so the ranking is solely based on career ATP points (adjusted to current point system): each win earn points, a slam final win worth 800 points, SF win worth 480, etc.

(Only calculate R128-F matches, a R128 loss worth 10 points, I may miss out someone close to the bottom of top 10, if you point out I will check and update)

Nadal has more points than Djokovic and Borg combined.

I see. Carry on, then.

I do not think even Srdjan or Novak himself would put Djokovic over Borg at RG all time for what it’s worth.
Well, if Alcaraz ends up more points (still have chance) he will be ranked No.1 for 2023.

One wonders how would Lendl and Wilander do if Borg kept on and maintained his level or could they even beat declined Borg

Crazy numbers for Rafa

Good data but it kind of rewards quantity over quality which is why Agassi is over Kuerten. Would be interesting to see what their average points are.

There is average. And that average is exactly why I give edge to Nole compared to Mats, Burguera, Lendl etc

Interesting concept. Using this method, Federer crushes Wilander so much, that he's closer to Borg than he is to Wilander.

If Borg hadn't retired early, both Wilander and Lendl would have had fewer RG triumphs. Borg was very strong on clay, like Nadal, just for a shorter time. Lendl and Wilander benefited from Borg's absence.

I feel this thread is the best work of the OP yet ...... A perfect example of the triumph of Matter over Mind .....

So we should now count points accumulated and rank players accordingly, this means 2 back to back runners up is better than winning the trophy and then skipping the tournament the next year.

Wonderful....

Longevity/consistency matter but I really feel wins ought to be weighted for this type of ranking.

No way my idol Agassi should be above Courier or especially Guga here, and it's hard to see Djoker above a dominant RG figure like Borg - even with 3 wins himself and a much longer presence.

This is one way of ranking, the ATP way, yet it hurts your feelings?

Just noticed it was used probably because Djokovic comes in ahead of Borg.
Another user having problem with ATP ranking system...
You only need to check post #2 to see Borg's average is on par with Rafa's.
And also, consider checking the AO thread before exposing yourself.

Or extreme wish-fulfillment that will never have a bearing on the real status of players (thankfully).

Just be glad the official record will never crown someone who--by his alleged standards--never turned into a player of note at the French Open, well, not the ridiculous fantasy level his fangirls use in their usually empty arguments.

Imagine thinking your total accumulated points earned at a particular event determines your place in said event’s historical hierarchy, lol. It’s all about titles and everything after that is secondary for TB purposes.

I was never a Borg fan but it seems to me he should be ranked #2, overall, as he only played RG 8 times and won 6 titles.

Pretty remarkable that Novak has reached at least the QF 17 times, even Nadal only has 16.

Obviously Nadal is indisputably the greatest here, just found that longevity even at his least successful slam pretty dang impressive.

Djokovic has one more participation than Nadal at Roland Garros.
That is the reason.

Without political interferences Djokovic would have added way more incredible longetivity records.

True but even still just proves how good Novak is on clay even though relatively speaking it's his worst slam.

In no way was I trying to say he's better than Nadal on clay, but maybe he would've been the clay GOAT if Nadal hadn't been around
