So why did Nadal retire against Murray if he was NOT injured? Last time I checked Nadal FINISHES matches as much as he can. Did you forget the bagel against Murray in Rotterdam '09 when Nadal was hobbling? How come Nadal did NOT retire in the match?

Truth is Murray OUTPLAYED Nadal in the AO 2010 QF and was on course towards winning the match in straights. Nadal got injured in the late 2nd/early 3rd set - so he decided not to risk any further harm given his shaky injury record and slam withdrawals thereof.

Was Nadal injured ? YES
Did the injury affect the outcome of the match? Not in the least. Murray was far away the better player.

Why is that so difficult to accept?

Nadal was NOT injured. He had BPs the game before, he almost broke, and when he couldn't, he just quit with a supposed injury.

Darren Cahill made a good point about how tournaments should withhold some prize money from players who go out onto the court with an existing injury and aren't able to compete. As he said, the slot could have gone to a lucky loser. I feel sorry for center court ticket holders today.

Rubbish. Daniel earned his place in the draw.

For those tour hackers who are trying to make ends meet considering all the travel expenses, coaching fees, etc....20k is a big deal. I dont blame him for showing up to play injured and just taking the money.

Oh I'm sure it is. but it's really very unfair. It's unfair to the opponent and very unfair to the crowd. Also cheating someone else of a chance to play here.

Damn..20k is 20k. I don't make that even in a month. And these guys get it in one match :)

He did that so he could retire next time. What an excuse maker.

Nah, dont give me that. Nadal is a cheat. And an excuse maker.

No it's not. But Nadal is still a cheat. He should give Fed his Wimby title last year. Fed doesnt make any excuses. He had a back problem against Berdych. didnt you see how poor he was serving? I never seen Fed serve that badly before. But at least he didnt retire unlike Nadal.

saving Penal_Agony the trouble.

oops....

Someone who failed to qualify! Daniel earned his place in the draw, and he's entitled to stay there for as long as he can survive. Tennis is a survival of the fittest sport.

Don't know what you mean by that but I replied politely.

I didn't say you would be rude, I mean, there is no point. you won't budge. Even if Nadal had gotten a mid match MRI that clearly showed he was injured, you wouldn't buy it.

You guys saying that Daniel should be banned or have his prize money taken away don't get it at all.

Marcos Daniel should be banned for that display. He basically gave Nadal a free practice to hit his shots with.

Murray should be banned for having the game and personality he does.

Don't hear me complaining....

Banned?

Ridiculous.

Mustard is spot on here. Marcos earned his place in the draw.

You know I like your posts generally. But this makes NO SENSE.

You mean Nadal retired because he was losing? Really?
WAIT..why doesn't Nadal use this more often. He's been handed INFINITELY WORSE beatdowns in slams before, after all.

Why did Nadal not retire against Tsonga in AO 2008 SF when he was SCHOOLED and HUMILIATED?

What made Nadal select the AO 2010 QF against Murray, where he would FAKE injury and retire -given that the first 2 sets were close and the match was a VERY competitive affair?

Oh,....and BTW post AO, Nadal withdrew from Rotterdam, took a 6 weeks break from Tennis, gave his doctors diagnosis etc.

So much trouble to go through the whole rigmarole to FAKE an injury?

Hmm... could it be that Nadal was ACTUALLY injured?

I guess this is the first time Rafa has won every game.

Ah, the poll didn't have an option for Rafa in 2. Rafa exceeded expectations BIG TIME.

Nope, it was all for show. He started the production with his withdrawal from Wimbly, also for fake reasons. Then he forgot his knee story and talked about abdomen muscles in USO. Then he got a a beat down at the WTF, and realized that his original story was a knee one. Keeping that in mind he entered the AO. Then just faked it all after that.

:shock::-?:confused:

Daniel won all but 1 of his points thanks to Rafa errors. That's not exceeding expectations. Your posts get more and more ott as this tourney goes forward.

Daniel won 12 points. 7 on Nadal errors, 3 on Nadal double faults, 1 on an ace and 1 on a service winner.

I suppose that's a little less disgraceful for both of them :)

3 double faults??? Rafa normally loses matches where he has 3DFs. I guess concentration is a big deal for these guys.

That's cool that he admitted he got the "message" from the scoreline in the Federer match and said to himself before his match, he needs to play well.

Was this when he was asked, that everyone else started to a good start, did you watch them? Then he was like yes I watched them, I tell myself I have to start off playing really well?
