Georgia up a break on all 3 doubles courts earlier on. 3-1 3-0 2-1. The new pairings seem to be doing well so far. Still early though

Kentucky sweeps the doubles against Arkansas. It is noteworthy that Alejandro Gomez is not playing doubles or singles; must be injured. Only affects positions 5 and 6 and #3 doubles.

hard to believe pieters-taboada is the best of those three dubs teams for UGA, but if they can get away with it and have that kind of confidence in their teams at 2-3, fair enough i guess

G.O.A.T.
Georgia takes the doubles point with wins at 2 and 3 winning both courts 8-4. Pieters/Doumbia lose 8-6 to Federhofer/Sliliam at 1. Manny has tried a slew of different doubles pairings this year, I thought the Pieters/Doumbia combo was pretty good with Tabodoa/Pasha second. He'll probably keep mixing it up.

TopDawg

G.O.A.T.
Sliliam in the singles lineup for UF. The Pasha/Alford matchup at 6 should be interesting. Pasha has been blowing people out in going 9-0 in the dual season. He's only dropped 1 set in that span. Alford is also undefeated in duals going 5-0 though he wasn't in the lineup against Georiga at the NTIs.

TopDawg

G.O.A.T.
Pieters seems to have found some confidence - leading 5-0 in the 1st set. Singh up a break on Sliliam at 3 and Carleton up a break on Doumbia at 2. Everything else on serve.

TopDawg

G.O.A.T.
South Carolina and Tennessee in a good one. UT won dubs pt to go up 1-0and the teams split 1st sets. Miss State took the doubles point from Auburn, Ole Miss took the doubles point from Alabama, LSU took the doubles point from Vandy winning 9-8 at 1. Kentucky up 4-0 on Arkansas.

TopDawg

G.O.A.T.
Florida with 4 1st sets taking 1 & 3 in tiebreaks. Singh was up 5-3 in the 1st set and let it slip away. Georgia up a set and a break at 4 & 5 but will need a 3rd set from someone else. Florida has come out strong in singles.

looks like having to play against the full UF lineup has made things quite a bit tougher for UGA

4 first sets dropped in singles, so gonna take at least one 3-setter to do it

duke was off the court long before the current 2.5 hour mark without dropping a set, hmmm

mikej

Hall of Fame
however, my money is still on UGA considering they'll be up 3-0 soon and have some fit guys

would be nice for 2-3 of them to go three sets so the pressure isn't squarely on one guy's shoulders

TopDawg

G.O.A.T.
Now 3-0 UGA with Tabodoa and Pieters winning in straights. Carleton close to finishing off Doumbia and Alford is up a set and a break on Pasha. Spencer blowing out Van Overbeek so that one is heading to a 3rd set and could be the decider.

TopDawg

G.O.A.T.
Getting interesting now with Florida cutting the Georgia lead to 3-2 with Sliliam and Carleton winning. Van Overbeek up 2-0 in the 3rd on Spencer but Pasha has come back from 4-1 down in the 2nd to tie it at 4.

mikej

gonna be a tough pill for alford to swallow if he fails to bring it home for his team with that kind of lead in the second set

TopDawg

G.O.A.T.
Alford closes the door on Pasha 6-4 7-5. Florida now in the drivers seat with van Overbeek up 4-1 in the 3rd.

Bummed about the way this match is shaping up. I was just at the UGA v Florida womens match and UGA wound up losing that one 4-3 as well.

G.O.A.T.
Who knows, now it shows the X by Van Overbeek to show he's serving though if he is he's down 0-30

Gotta wonder about the roller coaster match between Spencer and Van Overbeek, when you consider that they are both coming back from injury problems. Could be that neither one of them is anything close to 100% on form.

Not really. A win was not expected and we do not have a true No. 1. He has to play waaaaay over his head every time. At least he kept it entertaining.

yeah UF shouldn't have been that competitive with UGA, but still, when you are in the position they were, wow...

did dawgie dawg attend the match and get in VOB's head?

I can see Dawgie Dawg sitting right behind the court barking after points and whispering insults to Van Overbeek as he collects balls from the back of the court,

In my opinion MSU's best chances to pick up wins in singles will be at 4 & 5. Louis Cant and George Coupland were playing at 1 & 2 a few years ago so they've got enough game to get it done. Ilyushin has a shot against Jenkins but Jenkins is playing awfully well.

-Louis Cant is 11-0 in duals with wins at #3 singles over Ohio State's Kobelt and Texas A&M's Junior Ore. He is 18-4 overall with his best wins in the fall coming against Cal's Cueto and Florida's van Overbeek and 2 of his losses coming to Kentucky's Quigley losing 6-3 in the 3rd and Auburn's #1 Mies 6-3 in the 3rd.
-George Coupland is 17-5 overall and 11-1 in duals though his 1 dual loss was to the only recognizable name he faced in Ohio State's McCarthy losing 6-4 in the 3rd. In the fall he knocked off Stanford's Ryan Thatcher and had a tight loss to Pepperdine's #1 Fanselow 4-6 6-7. A year ago during the dual season he beat Vandy's Lipman, Florida's Sliliam, & Tennessee's Rhyne Williams.
-Malte Stropp is 9-2 in duals playing 7 of 11 matches at #3 and 18-6 overall though he doesn't have a really good win to hang on the mantle. In the fall he beat Tripper Carleton 6-2, retired but it's hard to put that on the resume.
-James Chaudry is 4-5 in duals, playing 2 matches at #1 and 7 at #2, and 13-8overall. He gave Blaz Rola a good match earlier losing 7-6 6-4. His best win in the fall was against Cal's Nick Andrews.
-Artum Ilyushin is 8-2 in duals playing at #1 after taking the fall off to play Futures. He made 1 final, 1 semi, and 3 quarters on the circuit with wins over Austin Krajicek and a pair of wins over Mitchell Frank. In the dual season he has wins over Ole Miss's Marcel Theimann, Texas Tech's Gonzalo Escobar, and Boise's James Meredith. His 2 losses were lopsided ones to Chase Buchanan and Alexis Klegou.
-Zach White is 5-4 in duals and 11-8 overall. Nothing worth typing results wise.

No need to go into great detail about Virginia - we all know what they bring to the table.

Projected Line-Up with TopDawg prediction
#1: Cant/Stropp vs Jenkins/Courtney - UVA 8-5
#2: Coupland/Ilyushin vs Domijan/Rooda - MSU 9-7
#3: Chaudry/Wilkinson vs Frank/Uriguen - UVA 8-4

#1: Ilyushin vs Jenkins - UVA 6-3 4-6 1-0
#2: Chaudry vs Domijan - UVA 6-2 6-4
#3: Stropp vs Frank - UVA 6-2 6-3
#4: Cant vs Courtney - MSU 7-5 7-6
#5: Coupland vs Shane - MSU 6-4 6-4
#6: White vs Uriguen - UVA 6-2 6-1

I'd be shocked if Virginia didn't win but wouldn't be surprised to see this one end up 5-2 or 4-3 though UVA will probably get the 4-0 lead.

Match starts at 3pm eastern/2pm central. Live Stats are here.

I like your stats write-up and your predictions are interesting. I don't think there is much of a chance of Courtney losing at #4. Not saying it won't happen, just seems unlikely with how he is playing. UVA's doubles lineup also may be a little different today. In their last match against VT, they switched Frank/Uriguen to 2 and Domijan/Rooda to 3.

Looks like no Courtney in dubs for the Hoos. Domijan/Rooda at 1, Jenkins/Oudshoorn at 2, Frank/Uriguen at 3.

Jenkins breaks to finish it 6-4. UVA survives 4-3. Gutty performance from Jenkins. Ilyushin was up a set and serving up 3-1 in the 2nd and Jenkins turned on the gas. Ilyshin was also up a break in the 3rd set too.

some good examples in the last few days of the top handful of teams just being tougher than the rest when things come down to the wire...UGA, UVA...bigtime opportunities squandered by UF and Miss St
