Geller lost in R1 of Miami qualifying 6-4 6-0 to Alex De Minaur
The Demon is already like top 30 player in ATP tour. Geller hasn't been playing this kind of competition in college. It takes time to get used to this kind of ATP tour level talent.Geller lost in R1 of Miami qualifying 6-4 6-0 to Alex De Minaur
is it andy murray ? I know he is making a comebackFawcett beats player ranked 458 in the world. Clearly a top 50 talent already.
Please, you are seriously going to judge Alex's form from that match today? I've seen it in person. The other dude was all effort and all but he was so overmatched it was not even funny. And shorter by like good 12 inches. He is not even a full 13 utr.Axel Geller is getting hot at the right time. Here come the Cardinal, in april and may.

Stanford goes 1-1 beating USC and losing to UCLA.Two big matches coming up this week end in LA! Stanford beat both UCLA and USC at home last month... what's your pick this time around?
Stanford routs both USC and UCLA and claim the #1 spot in NCAATwo big matches coming up this week end in LA! Stanford beat both UCLA and USC at home last month... what's your pick this time around?
According to school athletic websites, live scoring at UCLA, video feed at USC.
UCLA wins 4-0. This is a good experience and something to build on moving into the NCAA championships in May. I still fully expect the Cardinal to win the Pac-12 championships in few weeks as well. The lack of any competitive match in 3 weeks looks to be effecting Stanford in this one.
In the short term, exam break will hurt Stanford, but in long term will help them. I expect a split in L.A.: loss to Bruins, victory over Trojans. As usual Mr. Fomba will be the key. His upside is huge.

it doesn't matter. who doesn't have exams ? you are a scholar athlete, that is the part of the deal. It is Coach's job to prepare the players for such obstacles. Goldstein didn't want to get hot too early, I knew that. it is more important to play their Best tennis in Pac-12 and improve even more as they get into the NCAA tournament. and they should be peaking for the NCAA final.ucla and stanford both had finals last week. both are on a quarter system.
Easy to say doubles needs a tweak. but there isn't any other combinations that are better than the current one.Important win for Card against the Trojans, especially after Stanford let a big lead slip away in #3 doubles. Hopefully team has calibrated after its long lay off. (During this time lads cannot practice with coaches present.) Number of teams capable of winning NCAAs this year keeps increasing. I still think doubles needs a tweak.
look at these doubles play. I don't think there is really any better combination. they played well but just lost the close one. with abbreviated scoring, doubles sometimes is luck of the ball bouncing the right or wrong way.Important win for Card against the Trojans, especially after Stanford let a big lead slip away in #3 doubles. well, maybe, but.... (1) Tom/Axel are not really playing that well recently as a pair. They should really be winning every single match at #2. (2) if they _are_ playing like they care they may indeed be the best pair - and putting them at #2 is a nice stacking move that may be beneficial for overall goal of wining doubles point. At least flop one and two dubs for Card.
Disregard my last post, Holt beat him in straights last season, so Nevermind
you mean like in 3rd set, he becomes scared of Big serves all of sudden ??I said it before and I’ll say it again. Brandon Holt will never beat Tom Fawcett. It’s not that Tom is better, cuz he really isn’t, it’s just Holt doesn’t have the mental capacity to deal with big serving opponents by the time the third set rolls around.
This is a team that relies heavily on their big serves and holding serve. So when they were told to spin higher % of 1st serves in play, it's not working very well. and Axel has some technical issue with his volleys. He sometimes gets lazy and forgets to concentrate on volleys. or maybe he just lacks confidence on those volleys. So my point is Axel needs to work on his technical aspects of the volleys. and this is great chance to do so. Improve his volleys level or two before he turns pro. What is going on with Tom and Axel pairing?
Kumar has been disappointing this season, gotta be honest with u. Got whacked pretty hard the other day against K. Smith from UCLA too. Fomba should be 3 ahead of him imho.Impressive sweep over young team Cal bears. This is a statement win.

well, that was a shellacking by USC yesterday. Not great. I'm eagerly awaiting @Nostradamus comments as to why they lost to calm my nerves.... There surely is an explanation...
Perhaps the long season has caught up with Stanford team a bit. Especially Axel's form is concerning.
On the other side Stanford girls team deserves its own thread. They keep climbing the rankings, keep winning, just solid all around. They just took 4 singles against UCLA in the finals after losing doubles point. Well done!
oh, good to know, because I was worried. But as long as that was a planned loss - all goodHe posted in another thread that they lost on purpose.
