In 2011 Federer should have lost that award just for Djokovic got lucky jibe. In 2009 also for that nasty comment on Djokovic about him not having heart to fight.
This award is the ultimate joke in tennis. In other sports the recipients are usually some unsung heroes, or guys you've never heard of before, while in tennis the endless ego of the greedy maestro just needs his annual fix.
It's like when in North Korea Kim Jong-Un is voted for sexiest man alive for 15 years in a row.
Just monumental joke...
+1Same as Julia Roberts being the most beautiful woman on planet
But don't you know Fred is the gentleman of Tennis? He is so great that he should win everything! This award is the ultimate joke in tennis. The time taken between points is not relevant. Sampras's serve came naturally to him; he did not need to think about it too much so why should he be rewarded for it? Having said that, I totally agree that something is not right with these awards.Pardon me but why Paradorn? Also, why no the Great Sampras? Took very little time before serving or in between serves, only bounced one or two times, paid regular dues to his opponents, almost never resorted to trash talk and always let his racquet do all the talking? Surely something isn’t right in this equation?

Federer won the award 8 times before becoming brand ambassador in the spring of 2013.The Edberg sponsor-manship award is the only record that is safe, no?

Lol you really think she has an idea who Paradorn was?Pardon me but why Paradorn? Also, why no the Great Sampras? There is a poster here who thinks Donald Trump is handsome. Anything is possibleWhoever could have dreamed that Julia Roberts would one day be compared for sex appeal to the Dictator of North Korea???

Serves may have come naturally to Sampras but tipping servers did not.... serves came very naturally to Sampras
In this contract whole fee had to be paid before services are rendered.Federer won the award 8 times before becoming brand ambassador in the spring of 2013.
The fact that Ferrer, Delpo, and Nishikori never won this award says all you need to know about the system. Federer is a great sportsman but let's not pretend he deserved this award EVERY YEAR
It might be time to move on from that since it happened 8 years ago. There's a million newer things for the haters to attack Fed about since then.In 2011 Federer should have lost that award just for Djokovic got lucky jibe. So many cute puppies...It might be time to move on from that since it happened 8 years ago. There's a million newer things for the haters to attack Fed about since then.
Crying after a gut wrenching loss like that is not bad sportsmanship. Even breaking one racquet in a season isn't that rare for ATP players.Just 2009 alone shows how fukced up this award is. Fed cried in AO, smashed a racket against Novak in Miami, and had a bitchfit against Delpo at the USO. Like wtf
May I start a list?It might be time to move on from that since it happened 8 years ago. There's a million newer things for the haters to attack Fed about since then.
Yes pleaseMay I start a list?
The award is a joke when your player doesn't dominate it . It's as silly as saying Olympic Singles Gold has any meaning for tennis legacy.
Good think you quoted, not seeing postThis post is pure gold
