Dino, did the C 10 Comps look identical? I use these racquets and they made some slight cosmetic changes on them a couple of years apart. Just wondering if they truely had the same yellow paint highlights?
I have 8 Mid and 4 Mid Plus ones.

Yes, (A) and (B) in my post above are identical. I also believe they are identical to the two I modified. In total, I think I have 4 mids and 2 MP.

OK, so I measured two unmodified C10 Comp Mids today, and got the following specs:

Völkl C10 Comp Mid (A)
Weight: 343 g / 12.10 oz
Flex: 59
SW: 323
Balance: 31.75 cm

Völkl C10 Comp Mid (B)
Weight: 344 g / 12.13 oz
Flex: 61
SW: 325
Balance: 32 cm

Hi Dino, here is the specs of my "new" C10 comp Mid:

Strung Racquet , with 2 overgrips, 6 grams on 3 and 9 o'clock, babolat "o" dampener, 369 grams. Balance 32,6 cm, flex 59, swingweight 345. Simple and nice looking paint-job. Can't wait to try the racquet next week.

OO7,
Here's some pics, including my T10mpgen1. a paint scraped c10pro, an all blk c10pro.
http://www.wadeholiday.winkflash.com/

yes, the 16x19 is the same spec as the 18x20, just less strings.
my T10 seems to have a slightly more open pattern then the new 16x19 pb10 i have. (size of square in middle seem right between t10mp and the pb10 18x20)
i had to play w/ my t10 friday, as my rackets are still in a buddies car coming back from the bnp paribas open, and the pb 10 is definitely more stable then the t10. I missed my new racket, which was a good sign.

As far as amount of interest, my buddy said he was thinking of asking for a special run of 1000, and thought it could work if tennis warehouse wanted 300 or so.
Wether it's planned for spring 11 or not, i have no idea. morningglory may have the inside track on that.

Cheers,

Hi, I need advice from someone that has played with the Dnx 10 mid and a T10 Gen 2 mid. Does the Gen 2 have a softer feel to it? I demoed a Dnx 10, but I hated the stiff feel and odd balance.

I assume the specs are the same as the 18/20, just with a 16/19 string pattern.?.

Head Size:
98 sq. in. / 632 sq. cm.
Length: 27 inches / 69 cm
Strung Weight: 12oz / 340g
Balance: 7pts Head Light
Swingweight: 320
Stiffness: 64
Beam Width: 19 mm Straight Beam
Composition: DNX / Graphite / Fiberglass
Power Level: Low
Swing Speed: Fast
Grip Type: Sensor Tour Handle / DNX Grip
String Pattern:
18 Mains / 20 Crosses
Mains skip: 8T,10T,8H,10H
Two Piece
No shared holes
String Tension: 50-60 pounds

only if it plays like a 98 sq in PB10 mid....

The DNX 10 mid is far from stiff, that said the added DNX makes it feel a little stiffer then the actual RA, there is no T10Gen 2 MID, only a mid plus, maybe you are talking about the V-engine MID, anyway if you want a smooth feeling MID then search for a T10 gen I MID or contact me ;-)

"told me today that Volkl was coming out with another PB10. This one will be "slightly lighter" than the current one and will have a 16x19 string pattern. I forgot to ask him if it was a mid or mid+ but I assume it's the plus since the mid is already a 16x19, "

Any news on this Holiday? That sounds like everything I could ask for. The PB9 is too stiff for me. That's awesome that you have a specially drilled pb10 midplus by the way, I'm jealous.

Hey Dino, , i tested the C10 comp mid on yesterday, strung with Luxilon Big Banger Rough at 22,5 kg in mains, and Wilson Nxt tour at 21,5 in crosses. Impressed by this set up, the racquet works great , great access to spin, decent pop, good on slice backhand, kick serve better than the flat, maybe because of the luxi rough, very stable on the serve return, nice volleys, maybe the sweetspot could be better, for sure the 10 v engine mid has abigger sweetspot. Really like the solid feel of the racquet, and i love the sond of this frame. 1994 racquet, and you can feel it, those were the days for great tennis racquets..

The best remedy for what you want is a Tour10 VE MP.

I've heard great things about the Tour10 Gen I too. Too bad they're hard to come by. Actually I'd be really happy if the C10 pro was a bit lighter. Regret selling my C10 - I'll probably pick up one with the new cosmetics and try it again.

Just put some rare 10 series for sale on the board, for classic Volkl lovers. Gen I Mid and MP in very good condition. Also have 2 C10 Pro Tours (93) in good shape that are really hard to get. Serious buyers only pls. rob2355@gmail.com

SOY, I'm pretty sure you sold me one of my two about a year and a half ago!! They have been awesome, a unique frame that's very hard to find. But nothing in my closet is untouchable right now, including a couple PC600's as well.

It's 2010 and my 4 T10 VE MPs are still going strong :)

It's 2010 and it looks like I have had my head in the ground the last few years like an ostridge because I have only just noticed the volkl PB tech LOL Judging from the comments and reviews so far, they should have called the VE 'powerbridge' ;)

What a fun racquet the T10 VE MP has turned out be over these years :)

Dgpsx7 is on the money with this bat ;) By the way mate, what strings do you use in your bats? I've settled with Kirschbaum Touch Turbo and Gosen OG sheep hybrid for quite a few years now but am thinking of tinkering some more ;)

TW can you please do the TWU analyses for the T10 VE MP?

I was just going through the TWU stuff and it is a pretty impressive knowledge base ;) Well done!

I know that there is TWU stuff for the T10 VE mid but there is nothing for the T10 VE MP. Obviously, TW doesn't sell the either anymore but the MP plays alot differently to the mid and it would be great to see why it is different with respect to the TWU tests ;) I hope the others like Dgpsx7 would love it too.

Can you please do the TWU tests and put up the results for T10 VE MP? :)

Cheers!

I'm about to pick up a Tour 10 Gen I Mid. Probably gonna trim the bumper, should I use an xacto knife for this? I've trimmed the bumper before but this time I'm attempting to do the job with the grommets still on the racquet. Any advice would be useful and I'm curious what lead setups people use after trimming their bumper on this stick. Thanks!

I'm relatively new at Volkl, and I have only play-tested PBs, the three of them and the CP10. All of them are fine racquects, however I fell in love with the PB10 mid from the first hit.

I just hit with my new T10 Gen I Mid and I'm loving it. Such control and great feel. I bought it used so it has some strings on there Im not exactly comfortable with yet. The two things that I'm concerned with are the stability and serves. I felt my BB 11 Mid had more stability than this stick; not by a large amount but very noticeable to me. For the serves I feel like since the racquet is so low powered I can't get the same pop from the BB 11 Mid I got. Overall still very pleased with this racquet and can see myself using it in a long run. Gonna trim the bumper off soon!

What tension do you guys string your Tour 10 Mids at? I just did a 54/52 job and after hitting, it felt too low powered and i had to work pretty hard to get some depth

TF NRG 18 @ 55#
Doesn't sound exotic but it hits great! If I had another, I'd likely go with full nat gut @ 58 or so. Plenty of power for me; but, I usually try to 'tame' my usual DNX 9 a bit. I may leave the 9 in the bag next time out(like last time). The Gen 1 10 mid could get some of the Prestige lovers to rethink their obsession! :) Great racket!!!

BTW, no weight customization for me...bone stock.

I know my tour 10 VE mid had to be strung at 10lbs less. The string bed is really tight. I would go for 50 full or 50/48. Keep in mind I string all my 16x19s at high tensions.

Agreed on the VE...I think many folks felt it was a board when strung at 'regular' tension.

Even with 17g synthetic, I to go down to 53 - the mid tension, or slightly lower. The first time I got it was strung @56 with 16g syn and it was a real board.

The 10VE mid is my fav Volkl 10 series so far. It just "suits me" somehow.

There is no combination of string that could ever do what a full bed of MSV Hex 1.10 did for me with that stick. I always seemed to get better results playing with high tension.

When you get a chance try a full bed of a hexagonal poly and see what you think. I have had good spin with a few different rackets but the Tour10 VE MP has some magic that the others don't.

Just from my personal experience, the T10 VE mid and mp are completely different frames. The MP has great control for a MP but the Mid is like a scalpel. The mid is tougher to use but depending on your game it can really do wonders. If someone plays mostly with topspin they will enjoy the amazing control of the Mid. The mid is also extremely stable. It regards to general spin and slice the MP makes it hard for almost any racket to compete with it. I found that I had to work much harder with the Mid to produce the same slice I could produce easily with the MP.

Both the Mid and the MP are some of the best sticks I have ever used and I have bought and experimented with a lot of rackets. It's funny, the Tour10 VE MP was my first high quality racket and since then I have bought and sold about 12 other great rackets but none of them where ever able to do what that one did for me. The VE mid also happens to be the best 18x20 frame I have ever used.

Ericsson you still using your Tour 10 Mids? What's your setup?

I use the T10 MP, did use the Mid too but i got a little more feedback from the MP due to the bigger headsize.
Anyway, my sticks are customised to desired specs, trimmed the bumper and are leaded out, i didnt like the balance in stock form. The racket felt a little sluggish to me. I used natural gut but to be quite honest i have better results with co-poly cos i hit fairly flat so lately it is a full co-poly set up, i test a lot of strings btw.

ericsson, have you tried a full bed of Volkl Cyclone yet? You say you test a lot of strings; what are some of your favorite set-ups and why? I'm married to the T10mp so I'm curious to hear you feedback.

Hi, i didnt try cyclone yet,
Honestly i'm not a big fan of Volkl strings, was very dissapointed with Power fiber II, not my cup op tea...

Anyway, my favorite string i still Alu power, when this stuff is fresh it is hard to beat IMO
that said there are a lot of great alternatives that come close for a much better price.
I also like Polystar energy, MSV hex, Babolat xcel, fibertour and Solinco tour bite.
My latest set up is a unknown brand from Germany named Discho sports, a string called Ionspin Rough (co-Poly). So far i have the feedback is very good...

Thanks, e. I see you're into polys, as is almost everybody nowadays. One of the nice things about the t10mp is that I can imagine a full poly bed would still be a comfy ride, especially compared to most other racquets. I'm not a string breaker but eventually my curiosity is going to get the best of me and I'll try a poly set in my T10.

Trust me, it is still very smooth, that's why i love the T10 so much, such a buttery frame and very stable.
i know a lot about gut strings too and tested many but have to admit i play better with poly, no matter how hard and flat i hit the ball still stay in, with gut it tends to fly too much if you know what i mean, i always have the feeling i need to put a lot of spin on the ball to get it in again, with poly i have more trust in my shots...

Nice, I've trimmed the bumper on mine too leaving the guard only from 11 - 1 o'clock. I originally tried to stop at 10 - 2 o clock but I went too far on one side so I had to do the same on the other. Well anyways I threw some leather on mine, have 7 grams of lead under the leather too. Now for the hoop I have 7.5 grams on each side at 3 and 9 and 6 grams at 12 o clock. It plays pretty heavy, SW is around 340, but Im still adjusting. I can hit everything well except for quick exchanges at the baseline. That's the biggest weakness for me but serving and volleying is great. Really liking my Tour 10 Mid :)

Now that the lines have split, there are currently six 10s: C10 Pro, X10 325, X10 295, PB 10 Mid, London Tour, and Melbourne. Can't say enough about any of them, but I am currently using the London Tour.
