Great goal!... and when this is all over can some of our resident experts tell me something I wondered about last year - why Man U let Pique go and didn't seem to rate him so highly... he p***** over any of their present defenfders imo!...

Ridiculous decision! Bojan's goal was fine!?... these lame decisions... and they are happening all the time, every year... are killing the game for me... as if he bloody purposefully hand-balled it?!

What a great tactic lesson from Mourinho...

I'm sorry but when i see stuff like this:

is outrageous... barça deserved it. Even with the ref team on their side against 10, they were unable to create chances... only 3 chances in the entire game.

Loved how Mourinho celebrated

Feel bad for Barcelona, but I think Inter will finally take it; the final should be insane!

On a side note, I just found out that I, along with my family, will be taking a trip in July to jolly old England, and I'm just saying this now because I'm going to want to take in a match with you lot, and obviously we need to find out when and where! Also, I want to meet you guys and show you how us "Yanks" take care of business on the tennis court!

Parking the bus works, just ask Roberto Mancini.

Quoted for truth, glad to see Inter through but wow, that was pretty ugly. Almost like Murray against Fed at the AO final.

Good to see the refs were uniformly bad for both semis ;)

That's no football or soccer(as the Yanks call it) in July, at most pre-season matches.

incredible... the field was definitely sloped already in favour of Barça...

so much diving from their players and the ref didn't even show yellow cards for the diving...

I congratulate Inter players for the terrific focus they had to have in order to defend the game almost flawless ...

They definitely knew how to play without the ball... at a time I thought Barcça was a handball team, since all they did was stand at the entrance of inter's last third of the field...

As for Barça, he can definitely make some appearances on a Hitchcock movie... :):)

hahaha  I completely agree with Salvador but isn't/won't be the last time we watch such oscar perfomance even in such highest level.

I love Barças attacking football but after last season, where they were outplayed by Chelsea and got carried pretty much by refs into the final, I don't feel any sorry for them.

Especially after what they did this week. Pressuring referees, bad preess... a good team as barça doesn't need dirty work to win. It's classless.

And from Mourinho's statement at the end of the match, I guess many "weird" things happened last night in Barcelona for Inter, such as fireworks until 5 AM by the hotel where Inter was accomodated. The police arresting Eto' claiming he didn't pay taxes, etc etc...

They got it served in the end.

Now in the final we can watch some serious football finally. It will be Van Gaal "The Wizard" versus Mourinnho the Special One.

The Mentor versus The Apprentice :)

Mourinho's the luckiest **** in football, the number of crass decisions that went the way of that diving, playacting, talentless Porto team in 2004 and he's been living off it ever since.

I have to admit, seeing Mourinho running round with Valdes trying to wrestle him. Only then to have the Barcleona ground staff turn the sprinklers on the celebrating Inter players, it did bring a smile to my face.

Let's not forget this is the same Barcelona who this time last year were calling Chelsea sore losers after the debacle at Stamford Bridge. Barcelona were once again the 2nd best team in a Champions League semi final, this time they got what they deserved.

I'm talking about the World Cup, and Wimby.

Don't worry about it, the 8-a-side kickabouts in the park are probably of a higher standard than the MLS! ;)

Ouch. Fena, that one really hurt. Regardless of the standard of our national league against yours, we're still to hand you all your collective asses come June 12th.

Talentless? Dude, that team was a hell of a team considering it was, save for 4 players, entirely Portuguese, and more than a few of those players played or still play for top teams (Deco, Diego, Nuno, Ferreira, Carvalho, Bosingwa, etc...). That wasn't a world-beating team, but it was a very, very solid XI.

Being a bit of a Barca fan (well, as re re non-Prem footie), plus one who isn't a lover of 'parking the bus' football, I'm disappointed... But considering the 1st match in Milan, as well as the OTT sending off that Inter had to contend with, you have to say Inter deserved to go through... though there was that Bojan goal?...

Q. So is Mourinho off to Real Madrid? Somewhere else like Liverpool?... I don't think he'll stick in Milan.

I saw this in the Wall Street Journal this am, pretty accurate:

Alan Davies, host of the Arsenal podcast, "It's Up For Grabs Now," recently lauded Mourinho for always having several players who will absolutely kill for him. "He gets a couple of crafty Argentinians, and a couple of murderers." Don't know about their priors, but I would not want to meet Walter Samuel in a dark alley.

Congratulations to Fulham! I'm pretty sure the whole Country was behind them tonight.

Also i've heard the Aguero to Chelsea deal is pretty much done, and will be completed before the World Cup starts.

Think they would ever have him at ManU if Ferguson retires?

Diego didn't play for Porto that season.

Solid teams wouldn't rely on onside goals being ruled offside or play acting to get opposition players sent off in each knockout round. Mourinho loves to deal out the verbals but won't admit that most of his teams are built around cynicism. One fluke season and he now only goes where he has money to replace half the team.

Mourinho goes where the money is; true enough; but that's because he uses the money effectively (you must admit that getting both Eto'o and Sneijder was a masterstroke, and both have pain dividends). His teams might not play the most attractive football, but they certainly play the most efficient football. He goes where the money is because he wins, and teams feel compelled to give him funds because they know he'll always win something. He's won in England, Portugal, Italy and by the time he's through; he'll probably have won in Spain, France, Germany and maybe Turkey as well. And he hasn't left a team in bad hands after he leaves; Porto have been doing fine since he left and Chelsea's team, still has the backbone of the side he built, and they're doing just dandy. I feel Inter has a future after Mourinho leaves; he's given them a few new options and they're a diverse team and they'll keep on winning Serie A after he departs.

With that being said, I don't enjoy watching his teams all that often; they're a bit too rigid and tactical. I prefer open, free flowing teams. Mourinho's teams often remind me of American football teams - not much creativity and every single pass, movement and the like are all scripted, drawn-out plays. However, Sneijder has been a revelation this season, and this current Inter team looks like the most creative and entertaining team Mourinho has ever built.

no way... watch Porto in 2003 or 2004 and they used to play brilliantly most of the games... i watched pretty much all games from those seasons and they were pretty good in those 70+ games.

Deco was a pure magician...

One statistic that is more amazing is Mourinho hasn't lost an official game AT HOME since 2002 !! That is not all luck for sure...

Yeah, so what?

I don't support a fashionable club, we don't have that many supporters, we didn't win 5 league titles in the 1930's etc..

The same can be said for 90% of the teams in the football league, being a snob about which team you're born into and follow is pretty classless imo.

Good riddance Rafa. Get the hell out of England now. Take Aqua, Torres, N'gog, and all your fellow Spaniards with you.

Seriously. The only one who should remain with 'Pool is Gerrard; actually, come to think about it, he should go abroad for a season or two; maybe to regain his focus that he has so clearly lost this season. A midfield of Masch, Melo, Gerrard, Diego and Aqualiani behind Torres and Iaquinta/Del Piero would be sick.

And as for Loserpool, the entire club should be sacked and rebuilt, IMO. Everything from the board down to the groundskeeper. They're a mess right now.

City vs. spuds

Match of the season to surely decide fourth. May the best team not in north London win.

I've got mixed feelings about that one. As a Chelsea fan, wanting Spurs to do well is never an option. On the other hand though, Man City getting into the Champions League could be the spring board to a league title within the next few years, which also doesn't sound too good.

If only we didn't give Liverpool a masterclass today, they could of knicked it ;)

Liverpool were done a long time ago even if by some miracle they fluked a win yesterday. I hope what you say does happen but a lot of teams are getting stronger now and the established squads (United, Arsenal, Liverpool) are weakening. The current second tier clubs in City, Villa, Everton, Spuds are all improving and could cause problems as well so perhaps different teams in Champions League could become a regularity soon?

Hope you hammer them.

Imagine if they win their last two games and you lose to Fulham. Arsenal fans everywhere would never live that down.

Yeah, kind of what happens in Spain, with Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Villarreal, and Sevilla rotating for those last 2 UCL spots. I'd love to see that happen, especially if Liverpool don't always qualify. They're a joke right now, and their squad is going to take a massive hit this summer - Yossi, Torres, Masch, Aquallani are all going to leave and nobody is going to come in and replace them..

Not if City make it in this year, the players they will be able to attract will be too much for teams with average money to compete against. Spurs and Villa will be looking at the £10-15m type of players whilst City will be throwing money at Ribery, Villa, Torres etc... :)

Will Bridge be playing on Wednesday? It'll be interesting to see him refusing to shake Gudjohnsen's hand ;)

Apparently City have had an offer accepted for a double swoop of Angel Di Maria and David Luiz from Benfica for some crazy fee like 75 million pounds or so.

Here we go again

Wheeeyyyy! Here we go.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/133701/Edwin-van-der-Sar-Chelsea-got-lucky/

Van der Sar says Chelsea are only top of the League because they got lucky, a penalty wasn't given against Bolton and Drogba scored an offside goal against Man Utd.

Yet another example of someone totally forgetting about Macheda punching the ball into the net to even things out less than a minute later. As for the Bolton penalty, one was given for Tottenham in the next game that wasn't a penalty. Oh and what about Nani's penalty against Tottenham? Kalou had exactly the same thing happen to him yesterday against Liverpool.

There's no doubt Man Utd haven't really been good enough this year, just like Chelsea weren't the last 3 years, it's a shame he can't admit it.

I've seen United play several times this season, and for me, they've been distinctly average. Granted, that "average" is much better than most teams, based off the fact that an average United squad is still one of the best in England, but they've lacked a creative spark this season and they're relying too heavily on Rooney. I feel that they're about to embark on even more rebuilding, as they can't rely on Scholes, Carrick, Giggs, O'Shea and Fletcher forever. It'll be years before United are again a full-strength side. The same could be said for Chelsea's aging squad, but it seems Carlo has gotten the message and plans on unloading several older players (Deco, Ballack, Ashley Cole etc..) and getting younger players and buying even more youth talent for the academy.

With all that being said, United could do far worse than to pick up Modric as rumored. He'd replace Giggs perfectly.

Well that's one trophy in the cabinet! Our first FA Youth Cup victory since 1961.

Potentially it could be 3 trophies in 12 days, time to get number 2 on Sunday :)
