Blahhh not that naff Rangers song!

Follow, Follow, Follow,
There was only two minutes to go,
It was Wayne Bridge's goal,
That sent us out of control,
And sent the Arsenal out the Euro!

That's more like it...

YYYYEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!

What a great win!!
Not the best football match, but the win was still fantastic. We haven't lost in 10 matches. We haven't lost since we sacked Bruce Rioch.

Somehow I feel sorry for Celtic. What was that, 20 matches in a row without an away win in European competitions.

Transfer news. Yes, it's that time of year again.

Ricardo Olivera to Chelsea. It's all but confirmed, according to 2 of my sources. Fena, say you? Who else should we swoop for in January? If Roman sees that other clubs aren't signing then maybe he'll open up the chequebook for one more outrageous shopping spree to ensure that we basically win the league. Who should we swoop for in January?

Interesting! Where did you hear that?

I've heard Real Madrid wanted him now Van Nistelrooy is injured but i've not heard him being linked with Chelsea.

What I have heard is that Daniel Sturridge, the young Manchester City player might come, not heard anything else though.

We need a striker for sure.

Well, speaking for myself and the white-shirted side of north London... all I want for Christmas is... (please Santa!)... a decent goalkeeper!... and BTW, given his extraordinary success at reinvigorating Spurs, I don't think it's a bad idea that Harry Redknapp puts himself in goal!.... I'm sure he's better at crosses anyway?!...

I read it over on AS and a few other sources of mine. Usually AS are quite reliable, or atleast moreso than Marca.

Is Sturridge that kid that featured against us a while ago? He was quite good.

But we need a striker? Please Santa Ambramovic, buy your manager a present in the form of David Villa! We'd love it!

In all seriousness, I know we want to be self-sustaining within a few more years, which is realistic. I'm sure Roman would hold off on that for a year or two longer if it meant a Champions League trophy and a couple more EPL titles!

Please, Roman! All we want for Christmas is for you to allow Big Phil to go on a shopping spree!

He's a new manager, really hasn't any time or cash to build his own team, aside from Deco and Bosingwa, and maybe allowing him to build a team can provide even better results! Here's to one last massive signing window with Roman's wallet!

forzainter,

What's the situation with JM, Inter and the Italian press now. A week or 2 back there was a bit of a story in the UK about how Jose had fallen out with journalists big style and there was considerable acrimony with JM and his family really missing London...?

All squad members,

Let's get posting and show the newly formed so called "REAL TT football club" that the number one most popular game (for spectators and in terms of people playing) in the entire world is the brand of football as practiced by the immortal likes of Pele, Cruyff, Best, Moore, Maradonna, Baggio, Hoddle, Zidane, Beckenbaur, Berkamp, Platini, Eusebio, etc, and not, er, OJ Simpson or that fat guy they used to call "the fridge"! :)

If I wanted someone who shows up once every five matches so would I. Robinho has already scored against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal while Berba hasn't exactly done much so far.

That offside was embarassing!

What's funny is that Kalou was through and one on one with the keeper in the first half, only to be flagged offside, when he was actually onside.

I'm thinking that linesman will be enjoying a nice League 2 game next week!

^^^ Big win for Roma this weekend, what's happened to them this season though?

They haven't been doing so hot. Their manager won't last until the end of the season.

Fena, how much BS was the linesman spewing out during that match? ARSEnal's first goal was clearly offsides, which I think was complete crap, RVP was a good 4 feet offsides and the ref let it stand! What a joke! The second goal was just plain lucky (although the same can be said about our goal :( ) and the head ref was absolute trash. He might as well have been wearing a red shirt because his bias was quite obvious.

Kenyon says there'll be no newcomers in January. This is not good. I think Kalou just isn't up to it, he wasn't all too good yesterday (but I admit that the ref hindered his performance a good deal) and we have a few others that just aren't ready for the big time yet (I wasn't aware that Obi was on the pitch yesterday, and FloMo was crap). That kid Stoch or whatever his name is looked like he's got it but that needs to wait until next season or around then. Drogs was missed.

We REALLY need another striker in January. David Villa is in good form. Roman, can you buy us a christmas present in the form of a certain spanish striker who plays for Valencia?

To answer my own question...

"The current total of 33 points after 14 matches represents their best ever start to a Premier League season; the club have never registered as many as 33 points after the first 15 games in this league. In 1990-91, they amassed 38 points in an unbeaten opening 14-match run."

I didn't think the referee was too bad, he made a couple of mistakes against both teams... he let the game flow though which is the main thing. Last year against Liverpool the referee blew for absolutely everything and it was one of the dullest games ever!

The linesman though, you're right! He was absolutely shocking. The one he got wrong in the first 5 minutes with Kalou through on goal was bad enough, then he did it again with Kalou 20 minutes later, then he let RVP go when he was 2 yards off!

What's frustrating is that Arsenal were never in the game at all, Chelsea were dominating and Arsenal were so short of confidence. One pathetic error from a linesman, they get their tails up and go and score again 2 minutes later. What can you do, eh?

Yeah I don't think Kalou is good enough.. When Scolari came he thought everything would be done to ge Robinho, so he thought he'd have a front 3 of Robinho, Joe Cole and Drogba... that's not been the case so all he's had to work with is Malouda, Anelka and Kalou which isn't good enough and not really his fault to be fair to him. Who could of guessed Manchester City would become Trillionaires over night and grabbed Robinho? Who would of thought Joe Cole would of had 3-4 different injuries already this season etc..

I don't really think the players we need would be available in January so with Drogba and Joe Cole coming back from injuries, those will be better than any signings we could make.

Well, for starters, Madrid just bought K-J Huntelaar for only 17 million! We bid somewhere over 30 for him this summer, right? Talk about getting the short end of the stick (again! :( ) on transfers. I personally think we should cut our losses and get rid of Kalou, we'll find a buyer. FloMo is wanted by Roma, let's let him go. Anelka is on fire right now so maybe another season or two and he'll be shipped out. But come on now, we need a striker, and badly! Big Phil hasn't bought a player dedicated to the attacking third, and Kenyon is talking out of his ass if he thinks that we're good enough as is. Cole is great, and Drogs is good but Cole is in his prime now and Drogs is getting old, how much longer will we be able to play these guys? Drogs will probably last 3 or 4 more years until retirement, TOPS. Cole has a bit more in the tank left but he's fairly old as well (he's 28, right?) and isn't getting any younger; for someone who relies on pace and technical skills getting older will do nothing but hinder your ability. I know we've got DiSanto and some players in the academy but I don't think most people are patient enough to wait 3-4 seasons just to make it to the top again; we're too big a club to let that happen. Surely there's somebody we can get as a quick fix! I really think we need to let Phil get some attacking players (read: strikers) NOW that will allow him to put his mark at the club, all he's gotten so far is Deco and Bosingwa. He hasn't been allowed to put a stamp on his time here so far, and if Kenyon won't allow him to spend anything I think he'll be on his way eventually. I reckon that he should be able to buy a few players to craft his own team rather than do with what Mourinho and Grant (even though he only bought one player) left over from their time here. It's not really fair to Phil to be expected to do so much when we lack a striker and he isn't allowed to go out and buy one. </rant>

The linesman who failled to flag for offside against Ven Persie has been dropped for next weeks matches.

Not even good enough for League 2!

I agree we should of tried harder to get Huntelaar, he would of been perfect! £17 Million is a very good price for him aswell but I think as soon as Madrid came in for him, he had his heart set on it.

David Villa looks like he will have to be sold by Valencia as they are close to going bust apparently. Manchester City will probably get him though, they can pay ridiculous money and that's exactly what Valencia need at the moment.

I think any superstar we go for will just get hijacked by Manchester City at the moment so a slightly lesser player might be better, i'm thinking Podolski.. he wants to leave in January and fingers crossed Manchester City don't fancy him! lol.

Podolski? No, thanks. Not the kind of player we need. A striker is top of the list. We already have the kind of player he is, a midfielder that supports the attacking third. We bought Deco to play EXACTLY that same role that Podolski plays for both club and country. Where else would he fit?

Villa is supposedly a smart guy and will probably choose Chelsea over City because he isn't like Robinho; he has other things besides the almighty $$ on his mind, like winning Trophies. And he won't be able to play European ball for City because both teams are in the UEFA cup and he's already featured for Valencia and I don't believe that one can feature for two different teams in the same season, much like how it is with the Champions League. I say we do this, as a gesture of goodwill to Valencia, who produce some good players, having a good relationship with them can be really beneficial. Take a look at this idea:

Give Valencia Scheva's rights and some cash for Villa. If Scheva decides to stay with Milan at the end of the season, Milan would pay the fee to Valencia, and not us. In turn, we'd probably be thanked for the goodwill with better relations between us and them, which is a good thing. Valencia would get the money they need and we'd get a striker that we need. Win-win situation. Is something like that allowed?

I dunno! Podolski has scored 31 goals in 60 games for Germany, Deco has also played 60 Internationals but only scored 5. Podolski also scored at better than a goal a game for Koln (46 in 81 games) before moving to Bayern where he is used more as a substitute than anything.

Deco is more of a creator whilst Podolski is a goal scorer, deco has great craft but Podolski's left foot is like a rocket:

Podolski is great, I was hoping City would look to sign him but I highly doubt they'll go for him. Great power and accuracy in his game though.

I sure hope Sparky has his eyes out for Villa, if he pulls that one off he'll definitely be able to stay around longer - I think he's a decent manager just a bit worried about how he's going to manage the egos that are likely to come in. Robinho is hard enough but if he can get the likes of Kaka, Villa, etc. in it'll be difficult for him.

If either Kaka or Villa do come hopefully one of the DIARRAS can come to make the defence more solid.

70 million is a small price to pay for the most hotly tipped player in the world, especially when he's not even 21 and is scoring the amount of goals he is. The kid is going to be something special. Madrid and Barca were in for him, and now Madrid has their man in KJ Huntelaar. Barca won't splash that kind of $$, and United already has a great attack with players to spare (including Tevez, whom it seems Fergie doesn't fancy despite scoring 4 goals the other night, wow!). The two Milans want him, but Inter has a striker in Balotelli (who will be class, BTW) and Milan is flat out broke after breaking the bank for Ronnie and co. Arsenal also want him, but we know just how cheap good ol' Arsne is and he won't want to pay that kind of price, despite having the cash to do so. Now Karim himself is desperate to leave, and let's hope we can get him.

All squad members,

The big news in England today: Roy Keane quits at Sunderland... what do we think of that then? Although results had been bad the last 6 games, I, for one, am very surprised he, of all people, has walked out at this very early stage. It would be v/interesting to hear a bit of detail from the man himself (by which I mean giving the Sunderland fans and the wider public the real lowdown and not a few pretty meaningless remarks.)

I suppose it could be a good investment at £70 Million. Abramovich seems to be weary of paying big money for players since his Shevchenko experiment went wrong, but if anything were to happen, it would probably be in the summer.

The papers today seem to suggest a loan deal for Wagner Love from CSKA as Abramovich is a good friend of the owner and the Russian league's season will of finished.

I doubt Chelsea will fork out the 70 mil for Benz, no matter how good he is. My bet's on Man City or Inter snapping him up (despite Inter having Balotelli, who will be a great player). Wagner Love won't do you any good if I'm honest... yea he's a decent striker but not good enough for Chelsea.

It would only be a loan untill the end of the season.

Drogba is always injured and doesn't have the right attitude to play anymore, that leaves us with Anelka and Di Santo which isn't really enough.

Yeah I think Vagner Love would be ok for a short period, before someone can be brought in permanently next summer.

Drogba's knee is pretty messed up and he doesn't want to be here, he should probably be sold whilst he is still worth something. Anelka is ok against the weaker teams but he can't do anything against the teams around us.

As for not paying much for anyone.. I think the most we have spent since is £17 Million for Bosingwa, which has turned out well! Hopefully that will of restored Abramovich's faith in spending.

Rumour mill up again and apparently City set for 52 mil in for Villa and 20 mil for Ribery.

Lassana Diarra is pretty much a given now and Wayne Bridge from Chelsea is also a big possibility. Aguero from Atletico Madrid is another on the list along with Roque Santa Cruz, Kaka always a lurking prospect.

I think I'm going to like January, if somehow we can get any two of Aguero-Villa-Kaka along with Diarra and Bridge/Thiago Silva it would mean instant threat to end the season as a top 6 side and next year possibly even better.

Hopefully Hughes starts playing a 4-4-2 though and actually puts players IN THEIR POSITIONS along with perhaps most importantly never starting Darius Vassel again. Not good enough.

Not sure you'll get Bridge. He's been linked with every club for the past 3 years! He signed a brand new contract in the summer aswell so if he wanted to go, he would of moved on then when Tottenham wanted him.

Ribery would be good yeah, another one of our targets you are trying to hijack! ;) lol.

Legend
Lol well go after some lesser players and we wouldn't have to try to hijack anyone :).

If Bridge rejects us we've already offered Cashley 20 mil but of course I really don't expect that one to go through, so hoping Bridge will be looking for first team football and come, definitely need someone like him out there though there are many other possibilities. Philip Lahm is another one though I'm not particularly keen on him since he's error prone in defence though a good wing back.

Funniest targets I've heard were offering over 120 mil for Casillas and 50 for Buffon, insane. Neither will come and Hart is a one of the best in the league in my opinion so that much for someone in goal, even the best in the world, is a bit of a stretch and unnecessary.

Arshavin is another potential buy but in my opinion he is overpriced and Spurs can take him, great talent with him though and he should shine in the league.

Feña14

G.O.A.T.
I think there's a chance of Buffon coming. He's getting old, very injury prone, Juventus would probably bite the Arabs arm off if they gave them £50 Million for him! Especially as they need money for their new stadium.

I agree that Joe Hart is good and should be given a real chance, the owners want the big names though don't they.. what's £50 Million to them?

Lassana Diarra (is a mercenary, after playing for multiple "big clubs" has lost focus on all things not related to money, he'll be crap for you. If you wanted a Diarra I suggest the one that is playing for Madrid. He's much better) is pretty much a given now and Wayne Bridge (sucks!) from Chelsea is also a big possibility. Aguero (I don't think this could happen, and Sergio's build doesn't look suited for English football, he's not big enough. If City bought him it would be only for the sake of buying him, and nothing more.) from Atletico Madrid is another on the list along with Roque Santa Cruz (could work out for your lot, I'm sure he wants to work with Sparky again, they worked well together at Blackburn), Kaka (I think this is a slight possibility, if the rumors about his displeasure with Ronaldinho are to be believed, but again, it depends on that and the money) always a lurking prospect.

I've bolded my comments next to each of the players you mentioned.

Do we have a Galacticos 2.0 on our hands here?

Hart is good, City (and England) would be better off if he stayed put and developed. England has a shortage (or lack thereof) of decent goalkeepers so if both parties wanted improvement I suggest he stay put. If you really wanted a good keeper, you can pick up Marcus Hanneman (a fellow yank!) from Reading on the cheap, and he's class.

Not sure you'll get Bridge. He's been linked with every club for the past 3 years! He signed a brand new contract in the summer aswell so if he wanted to go, he would of moved on then when Tottenham wanted him.

Ribery would be good yeah, another one of our targets you are trying to hijack! ;) lol.
I can't believe Bridge is happy to play the mercenary and sit on the bench and pick up a big cheque every week (I tell a lie, I'd love to do nowt for that much) when he could probably get into many of the starting lineups in several Premiership teams.
