The YE#1 race and potential RR tanking

he isn't under much pressure as far as paris and london. he is great on indoor hardcourts. pressure was being down match points at wimbledon against fedr and winning.

sadly for rafa fans looks like this stint at #1 is going to be very short lived. I don't think Rafa will even show up and Djoker will likely win and go undefeated.

It is very important for Djokovic to secure this title and YE#1 ... He hangs by a thread in that GOAT conversation right now, all big records do not belong to him (Slams, YE#1, Master's titles, weeks at #1) and although he has the chance to get closer and maybe surpass Nadal and Federer, the time frame to do that is getting shorter and shorter ...
Re. "pressure", Wimbledon match points are different, yes tremendous pressure but it was in the moment, heat of the game, no time to think much and just play the next point. Now he has days to think about this and hopefully realize that if he wants to be involved in this GOAT conversation (and I would think that he does, ask Kyrgios) he must win this tournament. That is why I said that if he pulls this off, that (IMO) would be one of his greatest achivement so far ... and a huge confidence boost going forward.

Not saying that you are not right, it is just fun conversation and fun way to look at the very exciting time in tennis.

Since Medvedev has had a time to recharge the batteries, I'll be interested to see if Djokovic is good enough to beat peak Medvedev.....because we know Rafa is good enough to beat peak Medvedev, as Rafa did it twice (6-3 6-0 at Canada, and almost won in straight sets at USO before winning in 5).
Medvedev will decide the year-end-#1 :)
