AO 2019 or RG 2020? My vote goes to RG 2020 considering that Djokovic was undefeated this year, playing near his best and had just won Rome. Whereas despite not dropping a set en route to 2019 final, Nadal hadn't played any tournament prior to it in months and thus was severely short of competitive practice. Plus the historical implications of today's match were way higher IMO..on par with AO 2017.

The first two sets here could have been 6-0, 6-1.

Nadal is not the one to brag but he almost said today was his day from the get go.

AO 2019 final. Nadal never looked in the match from 1st game to the last.

Here Djoker was very much in the match from 3rd set onwards. Till the final game, I never felt novak was out. The margin was pretty thin

Honest review:

AO 19:
Not many points were competitive. Djokovic took control of rallies before they even started.
Nadal didn't break once.

RG 20:
Nadal lost fewer games overall in the match.
He actually won a set 6-0. Bagel in a GS final is crazy.
It took djokovic an hour to win the first game.

I'll give the nod to nadal here.

AO 19. It was initially RG 2020 until the third set. Djokovic was way more competitive in the final set than Nadal ever was throughout the whole AO 19 match.

Nadal literally dominated most of the rallies from the back of the court...barring middle of the 3rd set, Novak never looked competitive for me.

None, because Rafa had returned from months of injury at AO 2019 and Novak was injured at RG 2020 final , he couldn't serve and hit the backhand down the line.

Did we all forget the hype for the Dal before that AO? Some were calling it his best form since 2014 and he got wrecked like never before in a slam Final.
Either 2019 or a tie.

Djokovic won a higher percentage of points in 2020 AO although he allowed more games. It was like 63% I believe compared to 58% today. That 1st set was closer than it looked and Djokovic had game point in a couple of games, and couldn't capitalize and hit an ace at deuce in a service game that would have given him game point that was called out.

They were both pretty severe beatdowns. I guess RG 2020 was a bit worse.

Neither were as bad as RG 2017, RG 2008 or USO 2004, though.

I am a huge Djokovic fan, but I really do hope this humiliation humbles him down, stops all his activism bs and gets his focus back to tennis. I do not want him to spend even a minute outside of tennis. If he does something stupid again, I will be the first to criticize him on TTW.

Again congrats to Nadal. If Djokovic was not meant to be the GOAT, Nadal would be my ideal choice for the title.

Novak won 42% of points today. Nadal won 37% of points at the AO in 2020.

Beyond the 1 game difference, there isn't much argument in favour of today being a bigger beatdown. Nadal generated 1 total break point in the 2019 AO match.

The bagel today was not ideal to say the least but the score line didn’t tell the whole tale. A bit more luck and a few less UE could have made a minute difference. Nadal was never in the match at AO.

Big points matter in tennis.

Didn't Fedr win more points than Novak at Fortyfifteendon last year?

Meh not a valid argument because the surfaces are different.

AO by far.

RG felt like it was an UE galore from Djokovic. AO was something special. A masterclass. Djokovic absolutely dismantled the Bull on the court.

Yep and Nadal did get broken once today.

I think RG2020 was the better beatdown while AO19 was the easier beatdown if that makes sense to people. Tbh with you both guys on the losing end of those matches both looked done and dusted by the first set so it's hard to really compare.

No doubt Rg 2020 since this was considered even and aus open was not, novak coming with huge streak and rafa not beaten djokovic in a slam for 6 years, I used to fear djokovic most in a grand slam not anymore, feel rafa can win 25 now

Not really. If we look at both serve/return stats:

RG 2020
Novak - 49.5% serve points won
Nadal - 66.7% serve points won

AO 2019
Novak - 80.0% serve points won
Nadal - 51.1% serve points won

Novak did almost as well on return at the AO as Nadal did today (this stat should greatly favor Nadal today since it's easier to win return points on clay), but did way better on serve at the AO than Nadal did today. There is no way to argue that today was a bigger beatdown besides the 1 game difference, which is rather trivial.

He needs to ditch Goran. Embarrassing for him to come out and say what he said

Actually Nadal was a larger betting favourite today than Novak was at the AO.

AO 2019
Novak: -135
Nadal: +115

RG 2020
Novak: +130
Nadal: -150
