I may have changed my outlook for 2011 after yesterday. Prior to the WTF, I thought Nadal didn't care so much about the WTF, as AO (Know I know he's still focused on AO), but he seemed to want this Title more than I had believed earlier.

True but Rafa almost made Murray injure himself by wrong footing him. I thought that Andy really tore something when he went down, thankfully he didn't. Fed was more of a slip in front because he changed direction, nothing serious.

I have to say again. That for tennis, it is so good that Federer won this, and Nadal lost an important final for once.

Federer prevented a total tennis shutdown, by one guy winning all the big titles on all four surfaces. Certainly a good thing for the sport to know that there are players who believe they can beat Nadal in the big matches.

This can only mean that players improve, including Rafa, and will result in more exciting tennis next year.

I know I'm late to the party but I wanted to pop up to say congrats to Fed, he played really well and congrats to Rafa as well for making his first WTF final (I'm pretty sure it won't be his last!) and taking his first set from Fed in that event (and gaining tons of points).

Thanks for the great images as always. You know, there was a moment in the Soderling match in the second set when he breaks where I could swear Federer regains self belief for the first time in a year..perhaps years. It was after a furious baseline rally with Soderling hitting his hardest and ending in a forehand winner by Federer. Federer kind of had this grimace after the point like a man who had found something he had been searching for that he had lost for a long time. I may be reading too much into it but he really raised his game after that for the rest of the tournament. Particularly the backhand. You could see Djoker and Nadal were a bit stunned at what was coming back to them after they targeted Federer's backhand. Nothing does more for a one handed backhand than confidence.

Rogers tennis has always looked better since after Wimbledon to what it was between Australia to Wimbledon. Even when he was losing some matches to Djokovic and Murray. It looks like the coaching change is paying off for him.

I think he was waiting for the final decision and if Rafa was going to challenge 30 minutes later. It doesn't pay to be careful especially with that Spaniard being grimey these days.

I forgot the exact stat and it was before the end of the match late in the 3rd set. At that point it was 70 some points for Federer and 50 some for Nadal.

Just saw the stat again. It was 74 - 56.
