Oh come on George!!! That Djoko match yesterday was about as one sided a 4 set match as you will see. Shapo has a long way to go, as does Tsitsipas, but i’d rather be Tsitsipas right now and people are still saying he’s overhyped? Looking good to me...

Any next gen who wins a set off a big three player is gonna get bonus hype, whether justified or not ;)

As a Nadal fan, I am a little bit perturbed by everyone thinking he is a great chance. It's still way too early to consider him making the final, let alone winning this and counting on winning more majors.

And even if he does make the final, he is going to have to beat the greatest hardcourt player ever in order to win. I can't see Novak not making the final, even if he is really stretched against a red-hot Medvedev.

I am as prone to getting my hopes up as anyone else but perspective is required here.....

it was the greatest FH at his peak. and still so good in 2017/early 2018.
what confidence issues ?
just won Hopman cup, winning every set, without getting broken (in singles)
won 3 matches in straights here at the AO.

agassi was crunching groundstrokes (FH and BH) when old.
fed can atleast get the act together for FH - to hit it with authority.
don't care that much about topspin/flat BH. slice BH can cover for quite a bit.

Agassi groundstroke talent > Federer's (anyone's really, I suppose)
If Agassi had Federer's movement at his peak, he'd be the greatest rallier...

Besides, Fed is two years older now than Agassi was in 05, that's a lot. Uncharted territory for a top player since the wood era.

I don't think he's going to be great again tbh. It's alright, you can't have everything.

Can’t agree with you on Tsitsipas, has easily as much talent as any of the other young players that I can see and a decent tactical brain to match. If you want overhyped, take a look at Denis...
To me that's not saying a whole lot. He's looked pretty impotent to me from what I've seen.

It sucks, but can't expect too much anymore as old as he is. I never thought he would win here anyway. It would've been nice to see him get further yeah. I'm going to keep watching. I was watching before Federer and I'll be watching after he's gone. He's still the GOAT and I'm glad to have witnessed it all along the way.

Great perspective. There was even plenty to enjoy from Fed in the four rounds here...

He absolutely has a great chance. He's in good form and he's Rafael Nadal. By definition, that gives him a great chance.

Fed will survive. I’m glad that young players are finally stepping up.
Lol things like this annoy me because plenty of people have defeated federer and would you feel the same if this were nole? Like just say you dont like fed and move on but this bs about players stepping up conveniently when its against fed is annoying

in terms of clean hitting off both wings, yes. but not necessarily in terms of power or ability to hit FH.
there will be UEs with the FH when he's trying to hit.

But right now, he's allowing himself to be dictated to as well , making UEs with the FH, giving opponents confidence - a triple -ve.

Rotterdam 2018 is the last time that Roger looked like Roger.

Idk what the hell happened between Rotterdam and IW last year, but it’s was obvious to me anyway.

Number one happened between Rotterdam and IW last year. Maybe that was it, the last goal he had. It may even be a subconscious thing but everyone, even Federer, might run out of goals. Djokovic said it was a big factor to him when he won RG and the CGS, so who can blame a 37 year old that has won everything he could and more?

return/movement/passing shots declining are all perfectly understandable.
but for God's sake, hit that damn FH !
Lmao idk got the feeling its feds last year him playing clay all but confirms it

Wow, just woken up to see the result - huge congrats to Stefanos! :) Looks like Djokovic's record of being the only male player in the Open Era to reach 3 consecutive finals in all 4 majors will remain for some time to come. ;)

Yeah you can see that he has no drive.

He’s even been saying that he hasn’t been training and practicing as much. I honestly think we’re close to the end tbh.

It really was. Hopman Cup as well. He says he's going to play clay so there won't be such a long period without him out there like it has been in recent years. I just like to watch him play whether he wins or not.

Novak is not the greatest HC player to ever live.

Fed finally saying conditions are slower and I agree. The old man can do it on fast conditions. Sucks the tour has gone this way.
Don't think it's the surface though. The change of balls this year have not helped him. They're fluffing up more by the end of the cycle. Returning more to the balls pre-2017. I wouldn't complain normally except many of the players this year have also thought the same and I haven't heard anyone say they like it. And Wilson did only supply the balls since 2008. So not like Slazenger at Wimbledon.

Damn you Dunlop.

Its been too long since a young player with this kind of heart and no fear has made a dent at the Slams
Im really happy Fish`n`Chipas has all that Greek support in Melbourne after all they pioneered the fish and chips
take aways and variety in cuisine Australia lacked so much after the ww2.
Bags must have been watching this match knowing exactly the support he had there locally.
I would love to see Meds do the same to Nole, actually Tities and Meds would be a dream final knowing their recent history
Do you reduce everyone's name to one syllable ending in 's'?

Impotent compared to who though? Djokovic, ok. Anyone else on tour? No, surely.
Many players. Basilashvili clearly had more potency in his game in their match; of course a rather catastrophic number of UEs somewhat nullified that in this instance. And how is Djoker more 'potent' than the likes of Nadal, or Fed on a good day, exactly?

This is said with love and respect, but seriously, what is with the Djoko fans and their pumping of completely meaningless “records” designed to big your guy up? You’re all at it lately. Look, in a couple of years time you’ll likely have the only two that matter so why not just leave it for now?

Not all of them do that, though djokovic2011 has been on that kick lately

Haha, I didn't mean for it to come across that way. ;) I feel bad for the decent fans like yourself but come on, this is Federer we're talking about here. We all know he'll bounce back from this and be winning tournaments again in no time at all. :)

I mean currently. And Bashilasvili lost, so who cares about potency.

It’s clear that the guy can play. He’s already what, top 20. We’ll see more from him.
