There's a thread on whether he'll be No 1 early next year. With his consistency it seems possible as the Big 3 won't be able to play as many tournaments as him.Going to be 3 titles and 6 finals in three months.

It could be like you were getting in the Women's game a few years back where the No 1s weren't winning the Slams. I do think it makes it hard for the public when the "No 1" doesn't seem to be winning the big tournaments, it's better when the public see the No 1 as being valid, if that makes sense.
