BTW, how come is Fed #1 with just one slam win and no other GS finals in his current tally? Djoker has 2 slams and one final, did he do so bad in Master Series?

Roger went on a tear on post-USO indoor events last fall. Plus he won a couple of Masters titles and 500s this year as well.

Much as I want fed to win USO this year and snag the open era record...methinks Andy will do it.

Remember, after the FO final, I said 2 men would win their 7th title at separate slams this year.

A lot of us probably thought Federer wasn't managing his schedule properly for a 30 year old. He sure showed us. One less victory and he wouldn't have taken back the Number 1 ranking.

that said, thats alot of points to defend next year.

but somehow, with the record broken, I dont think roger will care as much.

that said, Roger said in an interview that when Paul A first got on board, they just wanted to focus on the majors. And after he started having some bad losses( soderling FO, berdych/tsonga WB) they decided to focus on winning the smaller events so that he would have the confidence and match sharpness in big moments at majors.

And I believe it...all the time I kept thinking how Fed beat murray on a relatively fast court in the dubai final this year and how that would help him in this match. That said, murray played much better than he did in that dubai final so....

Federer didn't lose a match from like the second week of September through January and played a lot of events.

I watched the match but didn't have the time to do this earlier, so better late than never.

Congratulations to Roger and all of his supporters and fans for slam #17 and the #1 ranking! You've definitely earned it!

I wasn't reminded today why I'm a fan today, what I was reminded of, however, was the sheer brilliance, resolve, and determination of Federer's. I always believed he could get at least one more, but the top ranking, I felt, was out of reach. Incredibly, he managed to get both at the same time! For me, personally, Roger is the greatest ever (not that I needed today as any further proof).

Congrats are in order for Andy Murray and his fans as well for an incredible tournament! Today was Roger's day, but it will be his turn soo enough. Like Federer said, he's too good and too talented a player to not win a slam.

Congratulations to Federer on #17. Greatest Wimbledon champion ever, in my books, and very much back in the conversation about major favorites.

Thought I'd be gutted for Murray, but Federer just played so well. Nothing but happy for him.

Look at the H2H - David won the 1st 5 times they played as a pro (and allegedly most of their meetings as juniors) through 2003. He was asked how he could always beat Fed. He dismissively said "just hit to his BH" and walked away. Word got to Fed. Fed worked on his BH. The rest is history.

Fantastic message. I concur, except for the bit about never feeling he could get number one back; I always felt it was in reach, though I didn't expect it to be this soon.

Federer has now been ranked #1 in the era of Ferrero/Roddick/Hewitt/Safin and also the era of Djokovic/Nadal/Murray. I'm guessing July 8, 2012 and on is the start of another "weak era"?? lol

I just download 877 MB of a Youtube called "Federer comeback @w 2012 vs Bennetau" at 720px HD -- sadly the sound and video is extremely poor. Worse than even 360 px. Don't download this.

Senti, you can download the whole matches in pretty good quality from t3nnis, youtube is always problematic.

Are you talking about the torrents site ? I used to be in there, and had a great ratio, but quit since my Firewire drive crashed with all the files.

If it is the torrents site, i will check if i still have my account active. Second, someone told me downloading torrents is dangerous -- is that true, am i at risk, do I need to do something to mask IPs (this friend used some Windows software to do his torrents).

Check it out, I think there's a policy that they ban users after long periods of inactivity but I'm not sure.

Well if you mean dangerous as in getting viruses then probably (but that's not a big problem as long as you have a solid anti virus program installed). Also in this case downloading torrents isn't illegal as it's from sharing site.

Dangerous not as in viruses (I am on a mac), but I think the person I spoke to said torrents were illegal (he downloads movies) and perhaps I was wondering whether ISP's can take action on me if i am found downloading torrents.

This guy uses some 32 dollar software to download which perhaps masks IP's. He claims to be a software professional (but he's in rehab or detox for a few months, so i cant contact him).
