I would love by some miracle for 39 year old Kimiko Date, a perennial 2nd tier player of the Graf era, to win this title. I wonder what the idiot in my sig who thinks prime Capriati was better than prime Graf, and that Navratilova and Graf in their primes wouldnt be top 20 today would think then. I am guessing he would say "she has a two handed backhand, not that useless slice like Graf and not that useless serve/volley game which would never work today like Martina."

Bummer, if their match at the Aussie Open was one to go by a great match is going to be missed.

She wins, but 80% first serve to her opponents 50% and it was this close? Was she throwing 80 mph spinners in for practice or something?

Henin finishes off Dementieva easily. If Henin plays half decent she should be in great shape here. Zvonareva and Wozniacki are pushers with nothing to hurt her with at all. Neither are capable of beating Henin, Henin would have to completely blow the match to lose to either. Then in the semis probably Jankovic who she owns. If she gets to the final she would be the clear favorite vs anyone apart from maybe Venus. I think Henin has a great shot of winning Miami for the first time.

ED, that is a shame. To get demolished by Henin, not even being competitive, you must reevaluate yourself or else you will never be more than a worthless era filler.

you must reevaluate yourself or else you will never be more than a worthless era filler.

Considering her age and utter lack of court intelligence, is she not an "era filler" for the past few years? There are no absolutes in sports, but the chance of Dementieva ever winning a slam is about darn near close to proving the 'no absolutes' idea incorrect.

Dementieva draws Henin in the early rounds again? What rotten luck!

Henin hasnt even been playing that well since her comeback. Maybe she is going to take it up a notch here (I have a feeling she might win the title here actually) but based on Henin's play to this point if Dementieva can barely get games off her she probably wasnt going to do anything here regardless.

I mean she did make the AO final. Sure she's not the Henin of old, but it's probably more between the ears w/ ED when she steps out there against Henin. She had chances even in their match at the AO to win both sets, but blew them in usual Dementieva fashion.

Well I didnt see it, but it is unlikely by the scoreline she had many chances in this match. She was probably either overpowered or didnt even show up (probably some of both). Yeah in Australia she definitely missed some real chances, and that was Henin's best match of the tournament other than possibly her semifinal match.

Woz has been sick the last couple of days with fever. Cancelled her doubles match yesterday and was doubtful for todays game. She took a medical break at 1-4 to be cooled down and went on to loose her next 2 games and the set 1-6. That she now has made a comeback is more down to Kirilenko just completely choking and gifting Wozzy a break in the second half with 2 double faults in a row.

Moonballing exhibition in the Woz-Makiri match. Nauseating... Woz being a headcase now, blowing a few easy points in getting broken. Doesn't slam her racquet the way the big league headcases do though... 4-4 Makiri serving.

Nobody wants to win that match. Makiri DF's breakpoint. 5th straight game broken. Woz to serve for the match.

two breaks each in the third set ... Kirilenko playing MUCH better vs. Wozniacki than she did at wimby ... tho woz has a BP against ..... oops Caro goes up a break and wb serving for the match 5-4

Kirilenko spraying the ball all over the place in the second and third set.
Wozniacki needs to get a completely new forehand or a major change on that side. The balls are landing too short on that side and with no pace.
Third time Kirilenko are double faulting on break points. Unbelievable.

Woz moves on. Faces Pavlyuchenkova next. That could be a dangerous match if Pavy is on.
