Cilic has 1 slam and 2 other finals, lost to the GOAT of tennis in both.
Other than his wife, I dont see Berdych career way better than Cilic's one
I didn't say Berdych had a better career but said that he was better and did a lot more damage to the top players.

I rate Berdych's 2010 Wimbledon run higher than Cilic's 2018 AO or 2017 Wimbledon. He beat Federer and Djokovic in consecutive matches, Cilic would need 10 careers to accomplish this.

There's enormous pressure playing Nadal on Chatrier in the final. Ask Federer and Djokovic about that, and why it's so hard to play your best in those circumstances. Thiem wouldn't be expected to win but that's not the point I'm making. He would want to win very badly to get his first Slam title and beat Nadal at RG for the 1st time, so there is a lot of pressure there. Djokovic has done all these things and won almost everything in tennis, and he doesn't have any pressure whatsoever in that position.

I see what you're saying. I think we both agree that Thiem would put more pressure on himself than Djokovic but that the pressure from the outside would be greater on Djokovic than Thiem. Perhaps not. Djokovic still hasn't gotten back to his top level and won't be expected to beat Nadal by the outside observers.

I need Dom to win so much! If Zverev is able to come back yet again I will scream! (;

I am so hoping for a Nadal vs. Thiem final! :)

Cilic straight setted Berdytch and Federer on the way to winning the USO final in straight sets. That's infinitely better than anything Berdytch ever did.

There is 0.01% chance that Thiem will lift the trophy. But hope should be the last thing to die.

Yea nobody expects Djokovic to win so he wouldn't have any pressure from any angle really.

If anyone thinks Thiem will win the trophy just because he beat Zverev, they are kidding themselves. Nadal will crush Thiem in half. For Thiem's sake, he better hope he loses to Djocovic, because Nadal will absolutely destroy him into PTSD.

This is like saying Gaudio was better than Berdych.

Apart from that 2014 US Open Berdych blows Cilic in every way.

Injury's an injury, like when Fedr was injured in the Canada final last year, which the ABZ brigade like to remind us. Can't have it both ways :rolleyes:

Ofc but i expected Zverev to up his game today compared to those early rounds. Obviously i didn't factor in this injury.

What a baseline smash from Zverev! :eek:

Injured or not, in these conditions Zverev would have had a hard task beating Thiem. Of course, if he was healthy, would not be this stinker we are watching
