I will definitely miss Ferrer. He just played incredible tonight, dictating play, staying consistent, and always moving. Reminds me of times gone by.

But unfortunately, he has troubles these days putting three straight matches together. I'll definitely miss him.

Every time any relatively young player loses badly we always get the "LOL Pathetic Next Gen!" comments. I know this forum has a strong recency bias about everything, but I just looked up Zverev's age and realized he hasn't even turned 22 yet (LOL for some reason I thought he was turning 25!). I think the jury is still out on him and he still has to make a lot of improvements to his game.

Maybe he needs to not play his best in the initial stages (but play well enough to win) and then raise his level in the later stages.

I’m sure he was struggling a bit adjusting to a first-time opponent on a new court for him. He played Krajinovic twice last year (2-0) so he should be more accustomed to his patterns. Their 1R match at Basel was a tight 3-setter; at IW it was a blowout.

btw I found out it was an overhead from behind the baseline, not a serve. the highlight was cut in the middle of the point so I got confused.

It doesn`t seem the Zverev and Lendl partnership does fit at this stage of Zverev`s career.I think someone like Lendl should go to a player who is an established pro for some years and is around 26 years of age.Just like it was in Murray`s case. I think for Zverev Lendl came 5-6 years to soon.

Noticed in the 1st set he came over his BH a lot. Mixed it up more after that which really helped him I think. Was just reading that he admitted to not having a game plan for Albot. That's how he looked to me. He was feeling his way through the match, problem solving and figured it out in the end.

Last year it was in the 30s range. This year it’s closer to 35 and the tourney isn’t anywhere near finished so it could get faster. Quite fast for Miami standards. I think IW was faster this year and than last on the graphic too.

First time in 5 years that Ferrer has taken out a top 5 player (last time was at 2014 Monte Carlo when he beat Nadal in the quarter-finals). This at the age of almost 37 with just 2 more tournaments to go before he calls it quits!
