Not really. Thiem is just a choker. His tennis IQ is not as good as the Big 3 and he is not mentally tough at all. Compared to guys such as Murray, Wawrinka, Delpo etc even Cillic.

I find your username ironic - are you really a fan of tennis? To call a player in the Top 10 players in the world - and the second-best player in the world on clay - the toughest surface - "just a choker and not mentally tough at all" is ludicrous.

Sure, he may not (yet) be comparably as tough as some others, but then again, some of those weren't as tough as they are today at a similar career stage. Djokovic used to rely on injury breaks and retire if he was losing, Federer used to smash racquets, even Nadal who has always been pretty mentally tough has much more confidence to go to a plan B than he had previously. Funny how much confidence can be drawn from a first slam win, etc...

If Thiem wins this match, the whole world will applaud him...including the couple of bandwagoning fakes on this forum who pretend to be Djoker fans.

Anyone else feel like Zed hasn't really gone anywhere? He has reached a major semi, sure. I wish I could give full credit for that but his draw was nonsense and the level has declined. Stan should've destroyed him - and did in the 1st set - but he just impaled himself.

His game has recovered somewhat from the lows of 2019, but I wouldn't say anything has improved. Stuff that hasn't improved: FH, volleys, clutch. Stuff that's recovered: serve.

I don’t know. Verdasco and Rublev were definitely upset potential the way Z normally goes through the first half of a slam draw. Getting to the semis with just one set dropped against any draw would be impressive from someone like Zverev at the moment, and I think he managed it against a pretty dangerous one. Seems like a good step in the right direction to me. He could very well fall back to his 2019 level after, but I’m hoping this is a sign that he’ll start to live up to his potential a little more.

Agreed he hasn’t made any huge strides with any particular stroke, though. His forehand still needs to become a much bigger weapon if he wants to have consistent results at the very highest level. But the mental side of things seems to be in good shape.

Sorry fell asleep during the last set; match start time here was 3:30 a.m. I'm not even sure just how good the match was in the end because frankly I was in and out for much of the match.

this was a tough one

couldn't decide who I disliked more between those two
Wow you must hate Murray's guts. That's a hands down for most people as Berd Brain flapped his wings so hard at the end of the set, the Muzziah decided to bagel his pigeon ass in the 2nd set.:sneaky: Berd Brain's most epic moment of all time.
