Stuff like bolded will make you lose a lot of credibility on this board.
You are comparing a young player with one of the greatest ever. The guy who at 34 has already won 18 slams and has 320 weeks at #1.

To say Sinner is a more talented version of Djokovic is utter and complete baloney.

Even if Sinner exceeds the WILDEST expectations in the next 5-10 years, he will NOT have 10% of the career that Novak Djokovic has.
Djokovic is one of (if not THE) GREATEST players to play Tennis. What is hard to understand in that?
Djokovic is a pusher, nothing more.
Sinner actually tries to win the points, all the time.
And Sinner was Nadal's biggest challenge at 2020 Roland Garros, while Djokovic was too easy.
Sinner made Nadal work hard for the first 2 sets, while Djokovic did the opposite and only won games in the 3rd Set.

Got to love the delusional people comparing Sinner to Novak. No way. Remember, this is Novak, who defeated Roddick, Nadal, and Federer in a row to win in Montreal as a 20 year old in 2007. Sinner is far, far below that kind of level and can't even scrape by middle-aged Nadal. Snowflakes...
That's not what's worse. He did better than I usually expect these 20 year olds to do against Rafa.

What's worse is that he couldn't even beat Hurkacz in a masters final.

Frankly, we all used to think he'd become a super Berdych. He used to stand right on the baseline and smoke anything that came his way. Then, little by little, he became more consistent (some may say more passive/predictable) and evolved into a poor man's Djoker. Perhaps a bit more powerful from the baseline (I wouldn't say more talented), but not as accurate, as athletic, nor as badass when it comes to putting it away. He'll never be on that kind of level, but he's pretty darn good and he's by far the best 17/18/19-year old Italy's ever has. So we'll be celebrating when, in a few years, he wins his first slam. Then we'll go from there.

I generally agree. Sinner is a very good young player, no doubt. But, I'm not seeing "extra special" like he's destined to be the next ATG and win 6+ Slams. Not that it couldn't happen, but based on what we've seen so far?

That's exactly what I meant. This poster who I quoted said Sinner has more talent than Djokovic, and that Novak is just a pusher.

Sinner is a more talented version of Djokovic, and therefore it made sense that Sinner was the biggest threat to Nadal at Roland Garros last year.
Its been a long time since we had a prodigy in men's tennis.
Let's hope Nadal and Sinner meet a few more times this year........so Nadal can build up a big H2H lead before Sinner peaks.

H2H king for reason Lol.

Sinner looks better than Murray though. What do you think?

There is a possibility prime Sinner won't have to play anyone on the level of Nadal-Djokovic-Federer........making it a lot easier to rack up slams.
This is why Nadal's 13 French Opens is more important than his 20 slams.
It will be a lot harder for someone to beat 13 French Opens, than the 20+ slams.
There is a very real possibility that a great player in the next 15 years will have a very easy ride........and rack up an extraordinary amount of slams in a weak era.
Sinner looks like he's cut from the same cloth as the Big3, mentally and physically.

His forehand was better today. But that is also a function of the surface and conditions.
With Madrid - it's altitude, speed etc - Nadal's forehand doesn't work as well there. Especially the court doesn't take as much spin, and the ball tends to fly away for him.
I just have a feeling that with his serve it will be hard for him to win RG.
Right now - today's form - a well playing Novak or Thiem would have beaten the "current" Nadal with serve issues.

But yeah, RG is 2 weeks away so maybe Nadal can fix his serve. He needs to get some technical guidance and maybe have a new coach or something..
Lol, way rafa was hitting his groundstrokes off the sinner bulldozers he would have hammered djokovic for sure whose shots have no zing these days on clay to trouble rafa

Great pic. Anybody know where it's from and who it can be credited to?

Hard to say. Murray had an hall of fame career.
Can Sinner be as good or win slams? He is too young right now.
The mind matters more than technique. To win slams(s) what is between your ears is more important than tennis talent alone.

Interesting shot patterns between the two and huge spin numbers for Nadal, more so then I saw in quite a while…

Nadals forehand was very heavy at times to my eye and it seems confirmed by the numbers! The average weight of the shots was indeed very high, resulting in a higher amount of forced errors then usual…

Sinner already has better mental game tham Murray ever did. He remains so calm and composed.

That was a great contest for Rafa to win. There was no downtime; it was full on from the first point and Sinner executed his plan brilliantly. As usual, Rafa soon worked out Sinner's plan and found solutions. At times, I thought Sinner was going for too much too often which resulted in inevitable errors but anything less Rafa would be on it. Coming out of that match in straight sets will do Rafa's confidence a world of good. The match reminded me of how Gulbis plays against Rafa by going for winners on every single shot.

Volandri is Sinner's coach and he beat Federer in Rome in 2007 - 62 64. Unfortunately for Sinner Rafa is 3:0 against Volandri - two on clay and one on indoor hard court.

I don't see that happening at all. Post-Big 3 I see the ATP becoming what the WTA has. There will be a few players (similar to Osaka and Halep) who will rack up multiple Slams and always be a factor and ranked high. But in the bigger picture, there WAY more players winning Slams and multiple one-time winners and finalists. Upsets will be more common. Maybe a couple players get into ATG territory with 4 or 5 Slams, but I don't see any player or players dominating in any way.
