Sabalenka finally gonna deliver.
Jokes.
Someone random.

Man, where did you come up with those names for the poll?
  • Ashleigh Barty
  • Naomi Osaka
  • Aryna Sabalenka
  • Bianca Andreescu
  • Victoria Azarenka
  • Barbora Krejcikova
  • Belinda Bencic
  • Camila Giorgi
  • Karolina Pliskova
And you are missing Mugu, Halep, Kvitova, Iga

As an aside, I see one of my favourites Kristyna Pliskova is a set down in the qualies to Robin Anderson (not a player I am familiar with, ranked 224...). I remember just a few years ago sister Karolina was musing over how great it would be if they could both be ranked in the top ten... Kristyna did show potential but it seems like she went backwards - not sure what happened - and clearly now seeing both Pliskovas in the top ten is an impossible dream.

Kvitova has really been struggling of late, hard to see her as a more likely title contender than any of those listed.

She may not be, but she is a multiple slam winner, has skills and experience, plus is higher ranked than Azarenka, Bencic and Giorgi

Osaka could not have asked for a better draw….
Sarcasm I’m guessing? Haha. That bottom half is brutal. It got:
Svitolina
Halep
Kerber
Gauff
Osaka
Krejcikova
Azarenka
Muguruza
Jabeur
Sabalenka

Top half got:
Barty
Brady (lol)
Bencic
Swiatek
Pliskova (lol)
Pavlyuchenkova (lol)
Kvitová (lol)
Andreescu (lol)

Most of the top seeds in the top half are in terrible form.

Slam champs:

Top half:
Barty
Stosur
Swiatek
Kvitova
Ostapenko
Andreescu

Bottom half:
Halep
Kerber
Sloane
Osaka
Krejcikova
Azarenka
Muguruza

Very lopsided considering Stosur, Ostapenko and Andreescu have no form of late and Petra isn’t exactly playing her best either. Meanwhile the bottom half has the reigning RG champ Krejcikova, reigning USO and AO champ Osaka, Wimbledon SFist and former champ Kerber, last years finalist and 2x former champ Azarenka and also Muguruza who started the year so strong but injuries have impacted her a bit.

R1 Bouzkova
R2 Qualifier/ #246
R3 Putinsteva
R4 Gauff/Kerber

That’s a pretty good draw.

Bouzkova can be dangerous like all Czech players and Osaka isn’t in good form. 3R could also be the always dangerous Kaia Kanepi who has made the QF’s twice before and beat Halep here a few years back. Also 4R isn’t just Gauff or Kerber both who are incredibly dangerous there’s also the 2017 final rematch between Keys and Sloane in the mix and those two can randomly show up and do well out of nowhere. Not an easy draw.

Disagree. If Naomi is at 80%, she can blast all but Coco off the court. Naomi’s results depend more on her level of play rather than her opponent’s, at least in the 1st week.

Well she hasn’t been at 80% even has she? Judging by her two other slam defence attempts, it’s not looking promising. She’s not one who handles that pressure well.

No she’s been pretty bad lately, nowhere near her best. I’m saying if she plays well, I don’t think she’ll be troubled by these opponents in week 1.

First of all, I want to write that I can list a maximum of 10 options in the survey, so I have to choose and exclude players. For players who didn't fit in the poll, the option 'Other player' is intended, it would be appropriate for those who voted for 'Other player' to write in the posts which player him predict for the title.

I could have included tennis players in the survey according to their position in the rankings, but due to the imbalance of the WTA, I decided to select tennis players according to the recent form and results in the last two years of the US Open. Belinda Bencic and Camila Giorgi were included in the poll thanks to recent victories, Bencic at the OG and Giorgi at Canadian Open. Karolina Pliskova is a runner-up for Wimbledon and the Canadian Open. Victoria Azarenka is last year's US Open runner-up and Bianca Andreescu is the winner of 2019.

Bencic and Giorgi did well in events with very limited field, Pliskova is a perennial runner-up while Azarenka and Andreescu are thing of the past with nothing to show these days. Halep and Mugu clearly deserve to be here. In any event we'll see.

I can see a case for Halep, but why Muguruza?

I'm enjoying the qualie coverage. Following Jamie Loeb right now, I hope she wins and starts some move to fulfill her potential.

I think it will be a surprise winner like the french was. A lot of the players that have been playing strong leading up the the US open peaked
to early and or got some injury issues that will come into play.

Exactly! There were so many who withdrew due to injury (or exhibited signs), so I just wonder if they just came here to collect a hefty cheque, or they may not be injured so much after all.

I'm confused. Isn't the crowd full capacity potentially? Where is everyone?
