Osaka has been down 0-40 twice this set, all of them match points for Gauff, and Osaka saved them all.

Gauff is very fast, good stuff. NO can still improve honestly, the first set rather dull and only relied on serve, below 50% first serve will not make it past top-10 quality players.

No idea how New Balance is doing as a company overall, but getting in as early as they did with Coco sure looks smart.

Dasha won the 2nd to level the match. The DFs are 16 for Saba and 13 for Dasha after 11 service games for each.

Dasha delivered a bagel to take the match. Saba got a back injury that needed MTO at the middle of the decider and couldn't do much. 4-6 7-5 6-0 for the scoreline and 13-20 for DFs.

Way to go, Kasatkina! She goes to 11-3 in third sets in 2022. The commentators noted that Sabalenka's average second serve speed in this match was higher than most men's on the ATP tour. Of course, that also came with her regular 20 double faults.

That average 2nd serve speed is not even impressive, it just means she's brainless.

Jabba the Ons seemed very nervous in the tie-break, made many dumb errors.

Missed a smash, double-faulted, missed easy FHs...

No idea where from the tiny Kudermetova gets all her power from.

PSNELKE

Legend
Jabeur is clearly the better, more talented player but the amount of dumb errors is killing her.

Just imagine Kudermetova is winning 62% of her first serve points and 65% of her 2nd serve points. Says it all about Jabeur in this match

PSNELKE

Legend
Speechless about the stupidity of WTA players. I thought Jabeur was different tho. Completely brainless shot placement and standing on the baseline while Kudermetova is literally smacking every ball there

CG is incredibly FAST in real life. I’ve seen a lot of fetchers/retrievers, none is as fast getting to the ball as her.

She played almost flawless tennis tonight.

Oh… and she has huge feet.:)
You know what they say about women with huge feet... :X3:

Badosa-Gauff underway

Edit: two holds followed by two breaks. 2-2. Both players not that sharp at the outset. Badosa playing it safe (no sharp angles), Gauff hitting a nice drop shot and some good angles, but butchering a makeable volley. Still, enjoyable match so far.

Also interesting, Paula has tons of time to set up her shots but she isn't able to put pressure on Gauff, imo due to conservative placement (and Gauff's speed).

Edit 2: missed part of the set, picked it back up in the tiebreak. A terribly ill-adviced squash shot followed by two double faults by Gauff gave Badosa the tiebreak. 1-0 Paula.

Strange you would say that.
I tuned in for the last few games and I'm seeing a watered down version
of what I was seeing from last year (Paula).
She should be blasting Coco off the court!

Badosa didn't have to do much. Gauff literally gave the match away with her DFs alone. 3 DFs while serving for the set and get broken, another DF to lose the TB. You already know it's game over

Gauff is just another overhyped american product. Just ball bashing, double fault machine that gets exposed as soon as she plays someone who can chase down and slap the ball as well

Lmao after hitting 6 DFs in the first set, she came back with a 70mph and a 90mph first serve to get broken to love in the very first game of the 2nd set

That's pretty much the main reason why I hate watching WTA matches. You know exactly when the match is over. Gauff was cruising until she hit those 3 DFs to get broken serving for the set and that was the neck breaker. Another DF to lose the TB and the match was over at that point

What the hell is Nike making those poor girls wear? Badosa, Anisimova...like what the hell is that even

Would have given Kudermetova the edge in this one personally, but Shelby has been more solid out of the gate so far.

Kudermetova is totally opposite of Kenin.

Kenin's idiosyncratic service motion, where she tosses the ball first, keeping her head down,
and then looks up to find the ball.

Kudermetova looks up first, and then tosses the ball. :)

You can't make this stuff up!

Kuder is cute. I didn’t see that service motion until just now, after you pointed it out. Lol…
Hadn't looked at Kenin's serve before. But, yeah, it is rather unusual. Federer looks up a bit late -- he is eyeballing his opponent until he the moment he releases the ball. But Kevin is even later than that. She might not get away with that if her toss was lower or inconsistent

Kind of a disappointing loss for Kudermetova. Rogers' game has always felt underwhelming to me.

Dodged two bullets with bets though. Was either gonna take Kudermetova or o21.5 games and took neither.

I don't know about you guys but I really like Rogers. :)
It'll be hard for me to pick a fave if Badosa goes through.
Ahhh.. so that was her secret. She's been hitting the gym!
I could see she's really trimmed herself down. (Rogers).

Would have preferred Amanda to win her match though.

They will play each other again in a few days.
