Very impressive by Ruffin and Marchenko.Don't know much about either, anyone can give us a bit more info about playing styles etc?

They seem really promising youngsters.:D

I said before the AO that I thought this would be a big year for Rufin, I think he could be one of the teenagers to make a decent jump up the rankings.

He is a pretty solid player, nothing too flashy or over complicated for the most part, I think he's had most of his success on clay to date so it'll be interesting to see what the European clay court swing brings for him.

This result will see him move up to around 140 in the world, reaching the semis would put him mid 130s

I think llodra will beat soderling

Good call! Llodra wins 7-6 6-4.

I didn't see the match so I won't comment, but this is a great win for Micka. He didn't have a very strong start of the season, and he has a 150 points to defend here.

Did Jo play this badly in his match with Ouanna?

His forehand is just awful today

2 winners and 13 ue's off of it

Rufin down a set and a break against Zverev. His game is not fully developed yet obviously and he still has a lot to improve to climb up the rankings but I'm going to follow a bit more closely now, he's the type of player who is not afraid to go to the net, very pleasing to watch.

There is a sense of déjà-vu in the 3rd as Rufin breaks again when Zverev was serving for the set (and the match).

^^ Finally Zverev serves out the match on his third try. Should be a good match against Llodra in the SF.

Tsonga playing almost as terribly as yesterday

Benneteau playing well enough to capitalise (some lovely volleys)

Tsonga's forehand looking very shaky today.

Llodra was my pick for the tournament before it started, hope he can come through. Up's his game when he plays in France.

Phaw, got out of jail with Benneteau serving for the match xD

2 great winners from Jo for 0-30 now too.

==

ed: and now 2 set points...1 saved.

great point from Benneteau to save the second!

==

ed: great change up and nice drop shot from Jo for another set point

Benneteau looks to serve and volley again but gets himself out of position and misses the put away, Tsonga takes the set...somehow

I was there, watched the whole match.

Tsonga had most of the audience support. I myself was "neutral".
It has been an awesome match and I have the impression that Benneteau "wanted" it a little more and deserved to win in the end... He had a drive for this game, also got lucky sometimes.

I didn't know he could play such nice tennis. I am impressed by :

1. His footwork
2. The way he received
3. His forehand

Well done !!

Very nice Matchball! It was really fun match although i did have a feeling Benneteau would choke at some point. However, he managed to regain compusure and played a superb 3rd set tie break. Tsonga was far from his best though. His serve and forehand wasn't on for most of the match. I'm surprised that you were impressed by Benneteau's forehand, because his backhand is by far his stronger side but yeah he's a great ball striker with nice strokes. I agree with his return game, he took the ball early several times on Tsonga's second serve and really took the initiative.

I missed this match but watched a bit of Benneteau and he seemed to be hitting his fh with more spin , returning well this week. Both he and Llodra have obviously worked hard at improving and seem to play at their very best on quick, fast courts. And in France!:)
I think it is great both have peaked for this tournament.
It will probably depend on how well Llodra serves because I think B. has the edge with groundstrokes and Michel will be looking to keep rallies to a minimum.

Llodra? You are scared of Llodra? Name me ONE second round in which you would have to face a worse player than llodra. Llodra has done NOTHING for 2 years. If Baggy can't beat Llodra, he shouldn't be top 40 at all. Soderling is only quarters. You can expect tough matches there. Making Quarterfinals would be a good result for Baggy anyway, and Soderling hasn't had the most consistent season so far..

We told you you were wrong at the time! Now you see what an amazing player Llodra is and can be
