Kudos to Federer and Nadal for that. You can see that these two are very close, the fact they can have this discussion between themselves and donate together is great. I do think that these two will only become even better friends after they retire.

I dislike Djokovic's tennis and persona as much as anyone else, but anything he, Federer or Nadal gives or does to help our communities heal is welcome and a matter for them.

Yep. The money will come in handy. Pity that they have a Major to play. A big exo event between them could raise a lot more. Maybe they can do it afterwards.

Zverev seems rather jovial for a guy whose game is in a complete state of sh*t and was even crying about it only a few days back.

I find this 'united front' thing they've got going on really fascinating, it'll be interesting to see how much they'll draw on the Fedal brand once they're retired.

They've been marketing Brand Fedal since the Academy opening in 2016. So expect even more when they retire!

Maybe they did, but Djokovic has his own plans on what he wants to do.

Anyways, this is a positive thread, lets not drag it down by taking shots at Djokovic for no reason.
It's not meant to be a shot at Djokovic. On the contrary, I felt uncomfortable for him that it's not the 3 of them especially as he and Rafa appear to be on friendly terms now.

People should stop contributing and let the oil and gas companies and their denial whores in the media be held accountable. Tennis celebrities should have the balls to speak out against this. Even Murdoch's son has come out swinging against the right-wing paid denial machine in his father's media.

Charity is good, but just like politicians who cut services and then encourage "volunteerism," it should not be used to whitewash the actions of those responsible.

I agree with everything, except the stop contributing part.

Here it's not so much oil and gas, but coal.

Fed and Rafa have been on more than friendly terms since 2004. Still you take shots at Roger in nearly every post you make. Why the double standard?

I’m guessing ALOT. “FEDAL” will be bankable for a century

Here’s what Djokovic should do:
1) call a press on the tarmac at the Melbourne airport.
2) land jet next to press conference.
3) exit plane wearing #FightForAustralia T-shirt. Have giant boom box over his shoulder blasting “Down Under” by Men at Work. Break out a little bit of Djokovic dancing.
4) Announce at press conference he is here to fight for his home away from home, Australia, and will donate all his winnings from the AO to the firefighters and thier efforts.
5) Challenge athletes across the world to join in the fight for Australia (c) by donating1 full game check from thier sports.
6) Reap the crowd support of an absolute legend for life.

Djoko should also ask his fans to sponsor him for every set he donates to his opponents. I don't mean sets lost, I mean sets he doesn't compete for.

It used to be thought around here that the whole Fedal bromance was just a Nike advertising gimmick but it's looking less and less likely with Fed jumping ship to Uniqlo and their relationship looking friendlier by the day
Why does Federer look so big here? Is it the angle when someone stands on the side like this? His legs look like tree trunks.
Fed may have skinny arms but if you ever see him in person he's a lot bigger IRL (especially his shoulders and legs)

that's like if the average person dropped 25 cents on the ground and someone picked it up and put it in a salvation army tin. What humanitarians!

Federer and Nadal are both around 6'1 and around 190-195 lbs or so? In pro boxing, they'd be fighting as heavyweights. Obviously they'd put on far more muscle mass up top in the chest, shoulders and arms so they'd probably compete at 210-215 lbs or around there.

The ATP website IIRC lists them both at 185 cm and 85 kg, so they'd be 6'1" and 187 lbs, but yeah, 210-215 lbs wouldn't be difficult for them with some additional chest and abdominal muscle

Yeah but a lot of tennis players collectively have donated, and the donations are now cumulatively into the millions of dollars.

Yeah, muscle weighs more than fat and they'd definitely would muscle up to increase their strength and power for boxing or UFC. They're in tennis shape so they need to be lean and powerful but could easily put on a lot of muscle for fighting.

Well let's see how true that is. If my maths is wrong, feel free to point it out since I don't do this very often.
  1. The average household's net worth in Australia for 2017-2018 is $1M according to government statistics. There are major issues with this to the tune of almost AUD 500K, but since they're official stats, let's pretend that it's accurate.
  2. A conservative estimate of Federer's net worth is USD 450M.
  3. USD 1 = AUD 1.45
  4. So it's AUD 675M vs AUD 1M
  5. AUD 125K for Federer is 0.0185% of his net worth
  6. 0.0185% of an average Australian household's net worth is AUD 18,518.
  7. If we assume the average Australian household's net worth is half what we originally worked with (which is what some papers responding to the government statistics are saying) then it's still AUD 9,259.
So it's not like finding 25c off the ground and donating it, it's like finding anywhere between AUD 9,000 and 18,000 off the ground and donating it instead of taking that home.
But would they be boxing on clay or grass?
