I tried it at 55/57 in the Clash Tour and it felt too tight. 44/46 in the Clash Tour feels much better. The racquet uses me for the control. Lol

44/46 would be totally uncontrollable for me. But we have to hit the ball differently.

No I tried another set of cube. I may need to adjust tension so I got another set. I have not hit with the cube yet but I like how little stretch it had while stringing so I’m hoping it will play good. I like to try a string out in full bed to really test it out well, plus I prefer a stiff string bed.

It is weird in that it doesn't stretch much on the stringer so you would think it would play pretty stiff but it feels much softer on ball contact. I'm giving Cube high marks on durability at this point as I crossed the 15 hour threshold last night and it still is a joy to hit with.

The prototype feels a lot "silkier". It's a different formula. I would say it's much easier to string and, as stated before, plays similar to ALU power, but softer. I would recommend to try it as well once it arrives (almost there!).

the cube string 1.18 . it looks and feel a lot thicker gauge than 1.18 . was there an error in gauge on the packaging ?

No error. As stated above and in our website, Cube is officially rated at 1.18mm due to standard measuring methods in Europe, but its square shape makes it more comparable to a 1.28mm 16 or 16L gauge round string. It's a measuring standard that creates some discrepancies in some square sharp strings such as this one, Ultra Cable, among others.

I want a refund. I bought this thinking it is 18 G string.

I had my first hit with the cube tonight and it’s a good string. I use high tension and I strung it at 64 lbs. and it played very good. Real good control and very good spin and power. What surprised me was how good the feel was even at high tension, my normal set up is lux alu at 64 lbs. and the cube felt more comfortable than the alu.

It does seem to make a different sound than most strings but a very cushy feel. I never know for sure how arm friendly a string is until I hit with it for a while but this string seems very easy on the arm. I use a lot of spin and this string was great for topspin and backhand slice shots plus slice serves were very nice. I will have to hit with it more to get a better idea of how good it is and of course how long it plays well.

Your experience mirrors mine when I strung my second attempt with Cube in the mains at 65# and 17g Ghost Wire in the crosses at 55#. In my first test (my review - https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/grapplesnake-cube.629084/post-13199220) I started with Cube at 60# and GW at #50 and the string bed was too lively. I felt like I needed a governor on my arm and had to shorten my swing. With about 15 hours of mostly doubles, the string bed is still plays quite well.

Ya this string plays very comfortable at higher tensions.

I tested both the neon hybrid and black cube. I'll give a longer review on the hybrid later.

Racquet - Babolat PA team & 300gram. 2018(9) model.

Both strung at 46 mains 48 crosses.

Never have I experienced a string which helps generate more spin than the Grapplesnake cube. Control and feel are up there too. I can't comment on durability as it is still too early to tell.

Launch angle and arc was precise to say in the least. Balls that seem to want to go long, drop right down into the court. The control factor of this string is more than I expected allowing me to put balls wherever I needed to, especially on serves. Power is close to my go to string Cyclone 18g yellow. The cube is easier on the arm than the cyclone. Where the cyclone tends to have that tinny plastic feel to it, the cube did not, or should I say less, if any at all. I was worried the cube would feel like Ultra Cable, but it doesn't. Although both strings share similar spin properties, I give the win to the cube because it exceeds in every category more than UC. The cube has more power than UC and as I said, pretty close to the cyclone 18g.

I'm not sure what the manufacturer recommends for spring tension of the string, but I found 46-48 worked well. I'm going to try it at 44-46.

I've already ordered a reel of the cube.

Move over UC. There's a new sherrif in town. Well done, Grapplesnake! My new go to string.

 then how on the earth you got it?

I have little less than half reel left of Prototype, which is the one I received to test myself. Liftordie provided multiple reviews and so many positive comments, that when he asked for a set, I couldn't say no and shipped him one to France!

String is arriving soon, and I will allocate a few more reels to cut Demo Sets then. So, yeah, as of now I have about 6 or 7 sets I can cut from my reel.

Whoever is truly interested in this string can shoot me an email and I can deplete that reel before I get more.

How should I adjust tension with Irukandji? When using Gut/Poly hybrids I normally go with Lux Gut at 55 and various poly crosses (ALU Rough, Hawk, Revolve, Pro Line X) around 52. Irukandji is much softer, right?

It is softer, but I still wouldn't drop the tension too much more than what you are already using.

I did a hybrid of Cube and Irukandji in my Wilson Clash Tour. I used Cube as the mains, strung at 46 and Irukandji in the crosses at 49. My early feedback is that I get the spin and control from the Cube and some pop and a ton of feel with Irukandji. Launch angle is average, ball pocketing has really stood out to me. Comfort level is pretty high as well.

I crossed over the 10 hour mark on my set of Neon Dust hybrid, and the stringbed has lost tension to the point where flat shots are flying on me and the string no longer grabs the ball like it did when new. It may be that I need to string a little tighter next time I try it to get another few hours of good playability. The strings were notched almost half way through, so were probably going to break in the next couple of hours anyway. These strings had very good playability for me through about the eight hour mark. Firm and pretty crisp when hitting the sweetspot, and muted and not that jarring when mis-hitting. Excellent spin capability and not as much incoming spin sensitivity as Cube. A little bit more powerful than 1.30 Hyper-G when imparting moderate to extreme spin, and about the same level of ball speed when hitting flat.

When I remove strings, I mount my racquet on my 6 point mount stringer and cut the mains and crosses at their intersection in a diagonal pattern. I then take my fingers and insert them into the stringbed near the edges and run my fingers towards the center, to separate the mains and crosses so I can remove them. The Neon Dust strings stayed locked together pretty tightly - way more so than any other string I've used. I ended up taking my awl, sticking it in one of the string intersection holes, and then using it to separate the strings as the edges from the CES were still sharp, and where they were notched would probably draw blood if I forcibly ran my fingers across that spot.

Some days ago, I received this:

uc

It's sitting on top of the Neon Dust hybrid that it will replace. This prototype string is extremely easy to string. There's practically no coil memory and the string doesn't tangle at all. It doesn't feel very sharply edged, and weaving crosses was a breeze as there's minimal string to string friction. There was about medium to medium high elasticity when pulling tension. I took a one foot section and tensioned it, let it sit for 30 seconds, and repulled tension. It gained about a quarter inch, so I double-pulled every string on my lockout stringer. I went up two pounds from what I used when stringing Hyper-G and Tour Bite, so 50 pounds of tension in the center mains and 48 pounds of tension in the center crosses.

Here's the finished stringjob.

uc

The racquet lost three grams from the worn set of Neon Dust. I'll add that back at 3 and 9 o'clock. The string looks and feels thinner than the 1.25 mm that is specified - it looks closer to a 1.20 string to me installed in the racquet. This actually may be okay. I am starting to believe I may be better off going with a thinner and lighter string, and adding that weight back at 3 and 9 o'clock to get a higher twistweight that will hopefully widen the sweetspot just a bit.

I am hitting in the morning and again early in the evening. I'll report back Monday night.

Had a hard time figuring out which was string was which on the Neon Dust. Both are about the same color and look squarish to me. Think I have CES in the mains.

It should be pretty easy to tell. The CES is square and has four very sharp edges, and is the visually thicker looking string. The cross is five sided and looks more like a regular round string. If you twirl the string in your fingers, the CES will glint off the larger, flat surface much more than the cross.

Thank you! Yes, one of the goals when designing this string was to make it feel very silky to avoid notching -this isn't just related to its profile or how sharply edged it is. Many round strings notch a lot- and also make the process of stringing much simpler. This also makes the string feel soft and comfortable, while still being pentagonal. It increases its spin potential with its edges and by enhancing snap-back due to low notching.

I must say @Grapplesnake USA Official , the more I play with these strings, the more I love them! The DT droped a point each day and then after the third day, it stabilized around 33 DT. After 2 days of hitting, it finally dropped another point. These strings have so much control and the shots I've been able to make are so good that you helped me score both on and off the court :-D:giggle:. I've been waiting until the string snaps to post a review but I may just start doing the review after Tuesday if the string still remains.

By the way, I appreciate how soft the string feels for a poly. That was very surprising but pleasant!

Edit: Do you guys have any stencils of your logo? I would love to be able to have that logo etched on my strings!

I used the CES Neon (Square mains) and the Liquid Neon (hexagonal crosses) with 45 lbs/ 48 lbs as recommended by them. I enjoyed the feel of it. What level player are you and are you looking for more power or control? The poly string does feel a bit on the low powered side for me so the 45/48 worked well. If you have plenty of power, then I would suggest something higher like 50/53 lbs.

That is awesome! I'm happy to hear that our products are being well received and appreciated here.

Yes, stencils are coming, because we've secured plenty of sponsorships by now. I am just waiting for the final/approved stencil cutting diagram from Germany. I was planning on just shipping them out to our sponsored players, but if there is interest over here, I can have them available for sale in the website, along with our upcoming poly shirts!
