Ivanisevic: "I was a bit too ambitious when I said Rafael Nadal doesn't have a chance against Novak Djokovic"

Goran wasn’t even at RG! So he wasn’t there to pump up Novak yet he blurts out that nice little bulletin board nugget to make sure Rafa was fully motivated and locked in for the final. I thought coaches were supposed to prevent players from providing bulletin board material not the other way around. Nice job Goran - way to go!

Nothing wrong with what Goran said. He made a prediction, a wrong one, and owning up to it. More than can be said about many posters here who glorify their right predictions and disappear when they make wrong predictions.
Prediction would be sth like Novak will win. Saying that Nadal has no chance is
a. stupid from tennis knowledge point of view
b. arrogant
c. not too classy to say politely

So he thinks Novak is the goat?

I remember teen-age Fed made Goran’s serve look like it was some recreational player’s serve on a fast indoor carpet:-D

Lol. That was Nadal this tournament. Playing like crap and then soon as Djokovic was on the other side of the net, he turned into beast Nadal.
He only played badly in the semis! Yet still won in straights.

The Sinner match should have shown you and your cousins that Nadal was certainly playing well enough to beat Noles.

You're making **** up. There's literally not one genuine Novak fan that is approving of Goran's words.

Why are you linking to a thread where there are barely any Djoke fans, despite of being 4 pages long, and from what I see they were more concerned about Tsitsipas and injuries at the time and less than the threat from Nadal. Even Your Majesty just said that "lol of course he has a chance", but actually didn't go on to state what an overwhelming favourite Nadal is.

I agree with Ivanisevic that it's a different ball game in these conditions but the part about "no chance" for Nadal is nonsense. Even PCB had a chance. Tsitsipas will have a big chance too. Even if Novak gets to final, in what physical shape will he be? Too many variables to be cocksure about the outcome of the tournament.

You said that Novak's fans were overwhelmingly approving of Ivanisevic's no-chance statement. I linked you the original thread about Goran's words and except the thread starter (fake fan of Novak), no one is supporting it. Not enough Novak fanst in the thread? Well, how so if they were overwhelmingly supporting it? So you lied. Stop trying to wiggle out of it.

People moaning and berating Ivanisevic because he has the balls to avoid sitting on the fence.

The guy's a legend, one of the true alphas of ATP, of which there have not been many.

Moya also a legend. Both amazing players and personalities.

Before all this social media nonsense, Goran would have made this comment to some journalist and it would have, at best, featured in a couple of articles and maybe in some book about the season or Djokovic. Maybe the commentator might have mentioned it.
Now it's all over the tv, social media and internet.
It was just his opinion, nothing more. Cut him some slack.

Goran is Good man - nothing wrong with being confident. Even TW poll was something like 52-48 to Nadal before match started.
