Well they gave Tsonga and Cilic a WC which is fine and nice to see - they deserved it. But Mahut has to qualify? Strange...

Watched him here in Tallahassee a couple of months ago.He breezed through a pretty tough challenger. Not a bad mover for a guy his size.

Tsonga marches on with easy win over Lapentii. Lopez next. Big server but Tsonganator has plowed through several of those already. Plus a match every other day is nothing for a the man who won 3 in one day.

Looks like the wildcard was a good decision.
4th round without losing a set for his 1st wimbledon, that's not so bad ! ;)
gasquet didn't lose any set either... i'm curious to see that match. :)
(gasquet won all of their 3 junior meetings in 2001-2002)

Nb: lopez made a vamos on a double-fault of tsonga (his attitude against tim didn't seem so pleasant either)... so it's nice he ate 3 aces in the last game.

Tsonga is having a great run. However I think it ends with Gasquet. Gasquet is playing great tennis right now and has a great shot at the semis.

Hahaha, I wish I could have seen that. Allez Tsonga.

Typical story. Fantastic rising young player gets hit with injuries and never makes it. At least that's what I thought until now. I remember watching two of his matches against Roddick. He got smoked by Roddick at the French Open (I thought, "he must REALLY suck"), and he played a really tough match against Roddick the next year (or 2?) at the Australian Open. In both matches, the commentators made many notes of his lack of fitness. Apparently he's been hitting the track since then.

I hope he does well tomorrow...I think he has a chance against Gasquet.

Does anyone know if ESPN is going to televise the match?

"super saturday" for Gilles Muller ?

Anyone heard of anything like this before. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won 3 singles matches in two different tournaments today. In the Stella-Artois 1st round qualifying he won 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 against Goodall. Then he went to the Surbiton Challenger where he beat Chris Guccione 5-7,6-4,7-6 in the semi-final. After that, back to Stella-Artois for 2nd round of qualifying which he won 6-1, 6-1. Three matches in one day, and two three setters!!!

I hope he doesn't have much left against Karlovic in the Surbiton finals tomorrow.
i saw he was scheduled to play in 2 different events this saturday:
- the final of the Roma challenger tournament
http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2012/5057/op.pdf
- the 1st round in the qualification draw for the Roma masters 1000
http://www.atpworldtour.com/scores/schedule.aspx?year=2012&eventid=416

seems doable:

:p

and of course it reminded me about tsonga playing the surbiton challenger and the qualifications of the queens at the same time (in 2007)... 3 single wins in one day ! ;)

Tsonga should have had Roddick in that AO match. Tsonga's awesome. Hope the Wimbly draw is fair, so he doesn't have to face Safin until the final.

Always knew you were a closet Tsonga fan SoBad, couldn't fool me with those comments during the Aussie Open :)
