Nadal is the best because Djokovic said so

Novak beat PEAK Fed in Montreal 2007 and AO 2008 and had 7 set points in USO final 2007. Something that PEAK Roddick was never able to do.
So yes YOUNG BABY Novak was holding his ground very well vs PEAK Fed.

Exactly, peak Roddick couldn't beat peak Federer. BUT, past-peak Roddick was able to beat peak Djokovic/Nadal multiple times!

12 Year Old Nadal held his ground against Roger handsomely

Sure, why would he not count him for any reason?

When he thinks about his opponents, he just thinks today's versions. You kinda lose the feel on how an opponent's level dropped throughout the years. That's how we relate to other people and all things, through our latest feelings.

Novak is a liar when it comes to post match interviews.

After every final he plays,he would classifies that match as the best match he has ever played and the opponent as the 'best' opponent ever.

Even after this Wimbledon he said this was the greatest match he every played.

Of course he does. That's sponsoring propaganda, to keep the crowd interested! Think what'd happen if he were to say that a player from almost 10 years ago was his toughest opponent.

Novak has played both prime Fed and Nadal. Novak says Nadal is the greatest. His words obviously carry more weight then the old folk do

Novak has NOT played 2004/2005 Federer. Roddick has played PEAK Federer/Nadal/Djokovic. Ask him who's the greatest.

Novak Djokovic called Federer the "greatest player ever" after the 2011 US Open semifinal.

Also, Agassi played both Sampras and Federer and he said Federer is the better player ;)

So basically

Novak calls WTF a super-important tournament that matters to him almost as much as a slam= Fed fans praise Novak for his honesty

Novak calls Nadal the greatest ever-= Fed fans say Novak is a dirty, stinking, post-match liar.

Novak says he's the "greatest player ever in terms of results".

Doesn't exactly sound as emphatic as his endorsement of Nadal, does it. Still a caveat there. He basically saying what he said at Wimbledon this year...Federer is the most succesful player ever (and he seemed to avoid saying greatest this time, so nobody gets confused by his meaning). I don't think this is particularly coinvincing evidence that he regards Federer over Nadal as the greatest. He's a lot more emphatic when he says Nadal is the greatest ever.

Nice try though.

You might need a hearing aid. He said, "5-time champion... greatest player ever... results... I mean-". He did not say "in terms of". He was listing off factors as to why Federer is so loved.

No caveat. You're imagining words now

He called Federer the "greatest player ever". You need to listen to the video again. You're being ridiculous

Not a try. Djokovic called Federer the "greatest player ever", and I proved it :)

Who cares what McEnroe and Connors think. Rafael Nadal is the true authority on who is the best. And in several interviews and trophy presentations, Nadal said that Federer is the greatest player ever.

I believe Nadal's opinion over all other's opinions. What say you?

Fed's career is pretty much done. Slam-wise anyways. Novak and Nadal still have some more mileage to go. Theoretically if Nadal stays healthy he can pull past Fed and future Novak. Nadal is mentally stronger of the three. True Fed is off peak now-so not a fair comparison. It will be funny after his career is over, Nadal tests positive for substance use like Louie!!!!

At 4:12 Djokovic says Roger is the most successful player and does not say greatest and this was the most recent comment after the Wimbledon final.

How does being the most successful player ever invalidate being the greatest ever? When Djokovic calls Nadal a great player, does it means he's not the greatest? Djokovic called Federer the greatest ever more recently than he called Nadal that. So, from what we know, his latest view is that Federer is GOAT.

Being the most successful player does not mean the greatest player and Djokovic chose his words very carefully this time.

In all seriousness, what these players say publicly in front of the media is all a bunch of BS. They are catering to that particular player in that particular moment. We don't really know which player Djokovic feels is the greatest away from the cameras. All of this stuff is silly really.

There is no such thing as GOAT. It is impossible to determine which player from different eras is the greatest. We can determine which player is the most successful or accomplished though, and currently that is still Federer.

Lol what a feeble attempt to twist the facts  He emphasizes the irrelevant part and "conveniently" skips the most important fact that BABY PRE PEAK Djokovic beat twice and had 7 set points in a slam final vs absolute PEAK Federer.

So any Djokovic was/is quite capable to play even with PEAK Federer.

It doesn't mean the opposite, either. From what we know, Djokovic called Federer the GOAT in late 2011. Not that his opinion matters a lot, but that's what it is.

It doesn't mean the opposite but he could have said greatest and he said most successful instead. It is interesting.

People interpret what they want to based on their own biases. Again, imo what these guys say to one another after a match in front of the media means nothing. Djokovic is not going to say Nadal or player X is the greatest after he played Federer in a slam final is he?

What we would really want to do is get Djokovic away from the camera and see what his opinion is on the matter. Until we do, we will never know what he or any other player really thinks. When they are active players they have to choose their words carefully publicly.

Maybe he just wanted to tell a fact and not his opinion? Either way, the fact that you're trying to twist what Djokovic said into something totally different is hilarious. Fact is, the last time Djokovic called someone the GOAT, it was Federer. Deal with it.

I am not trying to twist anything, I am a reasonable fan and my favorite player is Federer but Djokovic very clearly said that Federer is the most successful player not the greatest and the two are not the same things. You are the one trying to twist Djokovic's words here.

One day Djokovic says Federer is the greatest and the next day he says Nadal is the greatest depending on the circumstances. What we really need to do is to get Djokovic away from the camera to know what he really feels.

Of course they're not the same. I never said otherwise. But you seem to think they mean the opposite or something.

1. Fact: Djokovic called Federer the greatest ever in late 2011
2. Fact: Djokovic called Federer the most successful player ever in 2014
3. Fact: One does not invalidate the other.

Is that clear enough for you, oh "reasonable fan"? :)

Nope, it is not clear because Djokovic also said that Nadal is the greatest player on another occasion. As I said above, the only way we would ever know what Djokovic really feels about the subject is to get him away from the camera. You are smart enough to realize that aren't you? You are not going to get the truth from these players when they are active players and are "on" in front of the cameras.

Yup, they need to sell the current era to the public, to keep the sponsors happy. No chance to say that his toughest opponent is Federer from 10 years ago!

None of us can read his mind. And I'm not saying he is being honest, because we can't know. The fact is that his latest statement about GOAT was that it was Federer. What's so difficult to understand about this?

I think you are the one who is having a problem comprehending this whole subject. In 2011 Djokovic said publicly that Roger was the GOAT but that was three years ago and since then he has stated that Nadal is the greatest player and most recently after the Wimbledon final he said Federer was the most successful player. He did not say anything about the greatest player. You are reading that into it.

My point is that since Djokovic has said many different things on many different occasions it is impossible to know what he really thinks. The only way you would ever know what he thinks is to talk with him privately when no press is around. He would be a good person to talk to on the subject since he has played both a peak Federer and peak Nadal.

False. You need to know what happened, and you clearly don't. Djokovic called Nadal the GOAT in mid-2011. He called Federer the GOAT in late-2011. Again, kindly inform yourself before you talk about things you don't know about.

The only thing it shows is that Djokovic is inconsistent on the topic and says one thing one day and another thing on another day publicly. This does not in any way tell us who he really thinks is the greatest and the very last thing he said a week ago was that Federer was the most successful player. That is different than the greatest player. Now please go away and bother somebody else, somebody who is less gullible. Thanks a lot. ;)

What say I? You refer Rafael Nadal, a player whose credibility you've previously discounted (along with your numerous insults of him) which makes you a disengenuous phony and your post a streaming dribble of ordure. Oh, and you are qualified to discount HOF'ers McEnroe and Connors opinions on tennis? That's pretty rich fanboy-lol.
