Djokovic is pretty much a lock to win the titles in Tokyo and Shanghai. So even in Nadal will play Paris (which I highly doubt) he will have a very small lead in the race. Add the fact that indoors is Nadal's worst surface and Djokovic's best surface...If he plays in Bercy and London, which I think he will, with an additional 1000 or 1200 points would be enough for him to end the season as world number 1.
He was out of form in these 2 tournaments for some reason. And is that why he lost to Robredo in Cincy and got thrashed by Tsonga in Canada, and went into the USO undercooked?

Nadal lost first round of a slam in 2013 and ended the year #1Because in the last few years that number 1 spot turned into a total joke. Djokovic can lose in slam fourth rounds and still stay at this spot because there is nobody to take it from him. Even when one guy got a chance this year he decided that he doesn't want it, and prefers to gift Djokovic another YE#1.
Did Fed and Med skip Shanghai too?Djokovic is pretty much a lock to win the titles in Tokyo and Shanghai. So even in Nadal will play Paris (which I highly doubt) he will have a very small lead in the race. Add the fact that indoors is Nadal's worst surface and Djokovic's best surface...
Ok, dude. Nadal in 2013 won 10 titles, including 2 slams and 5 masters tournaments. He played almost everything after AO, and in Wimbledon it was his only early loss that year. Djokovic in 2019 isn't exactly on the same level. (not like Nadal is, I'm just disappointed that he doesn't even want to try, he just gave up)Nadal lost first round of a slam in 2013 and ended the year #1
YE#1 only becomes relevant if 2 players have the same number of slamsCongratulations to Djokovic on a sixth YE#1. I really have no idea when he will lose the number 1 spot, probably not before 2022 given the current competition.
Well, it was Nadal's decision to gift him the YE#1 without even trying to fight for it. I guess we have to respect that decision, as terrible as it is.
And he didn't even play Australia.Nadal lost first round of a slam in 2013 and ended the year #1
Too many matches for Nole until December. Really risky.A smart move by Nadal.
I think Novak's fall schedule is a bit risky. The Big 3 should all just play AO to USO, and maybe show up only for the WTF after that.
I completely agree. Nadal’s 2013 has definitely been stronger than Djoker’s 2019. My point is, an early slam loss doesn’t mean someone doesn’t deserve YE #1. That being said, Nadal can still end the year #1, it’s just not nearly as likely as it was after USO.Ok, dude. Nadal in 2013 won 10 titles, including 2 slams and 5 masters tournaments. Yeah, I was a bit puzzled by that one.Did Fed and Med skip Shanghai too?
You also said that Rafa would lose the USO final...Congratulations to Djokovic on a sixth YE#1. I really have no idea when he will lose the number 1 spot, probably not before 2022 given the current competition.

To be honest, nothing is surprising here. 99% that Nadal will skip Paris and WTF as well. I called it when he withdrew from Laver Cup.
What makes me angry is that we see so many motivation from Federer and Djokovic. They are ready to die for their tennis records. With Nadal it's the other way around, he just doesn't care about tennis anymore. He skips tournaments one after another. In 2018 he played 9 tournaments during the year and ended up withdrawing during two of them. This year it's pretty much the same story again. Watch him withdraw from Paris and WTF. I totally expect it.
I wonder why you are writing sooo many crap about Rafa.

I did not expect Rafa to play Shanghai anyway. He almost said as much that he would play LC and one more tournament before the WTF. Can't remember when he said it, but it stuck in my head.
You called it wrong when you said he had no chance of winning the USO.To be honest, nothing is surprising here. 99% that Nadal will skip Paris and WTF as well. I called it when he withdrew from Laver Cup.
You always call it wrong where Rafa is concerned. Look at your response to this post:To be honest, nothing is surprising here. 99% that Nadal will skip Paris and WTF as well. I called it when he withdrew from Laver Cup.
This so unbelievably similar to the AO 18 final.
Rafa faced with a dicey hold game to start the 5th after choking the 4th, just like Roger.
With the difference being that Federer won the match...Nadal will not. Today his career will end...
It all depends on what his priorities are. He says he is not chasing the number 1 ranking he just wants to be happy playing. He loves Laver Cup and he was happy playing it but playing Shanghai wouldn't make him happy.Nadal seems to do well after long breaks, maybe taking the rest of the year off and coming out of the blocks hot for the AO would be his best move.
Why on Earth he played at the Laver Cup I don't know. It doesn't award ATP points am I right? If he was going to play anything post US Open I would have thought Shanghai would have been his best bet. It's the biggest outdoor hardcourt event post US Open, it's long enough after the US Open that he can be well rested for it and long enough before the AO that he can be rested for that as well. Had he played Shanghai there is also a good chance that he could have taken number 1.

You believe that losses do not delight Nadal?playing Shanghai wouldn't make him happy.
The Spanish take their honeymoons before the wedding? Hitching date is October 19.Isn't this old news? I thought Nadal was planning on skipping the Asian swing because of his honeymoon?
Yes, he doesn’t want to erase the thrill of his last match there:It all depends on what his priorities are. He says he is not chasing the number 1 ranking he just wants to be happy playing. He loves Laver Cup and he was happy playing it but playing Shanghai wouldn't make him happy.
Tennis players are so soft now a days.
Masters = nothing in todays game because top players dont have to play them anymore.
I can't find the original article, but I read some news back in January or February saying he was going to skip the Asian swing because of the honeymoon. The closest I could find was this:The Spanish take their honeymoons before the wedding? Hitching date is October 19.
I think Nadal skips Paris because:
They do but guys like Nadal have already played so many Masters matches in their career that they are now allowed to choose whether to play them or not.
Because the surface doesn't suit him. Called preservation aka human instinct fredtardYou don't ever get tired of defending Nadal skipping out on the fall season? It must wear on you and other Nadal fans. Among other things.
LOL the guy who literally gave his last ounce of energy to win the USO doesn't care about tennis.. We are lucky Nadal is still playing tennis at 33 let alone winning slams, yet some people can't stop moaning when he skips a meaningless mastersWhat makes me angry is that we see so many motivation from Federer and Djokovic. If Rafa cared enough about winning Shanghai, he would play it but, evidently, he doesn't.He's never going to win Shanghai at this rate.
Federer skipped 3 clay court seasons because he cared so much and where were Federer and Djokovic in Canada? What makes me angry is that we see so many motivation from Federer and Djokovic.
