Not more than a Wimbledon title though, seriously.Whats hard to believe about it? It's the frickin Olympics lol. Who wouldn't want a gold medal?
Maybe for minnows. I can't place OG even close to a GS title. Who cares now that Massu won, or Rosset? Today, it doesn't seem a particularly major feather in Kafelnikov's cap.Everyone grows up watching the Olympics. Not everyone grows up watching tennis slams. Olympic Gold is bigger than a slam. Look at Monica Puig. That did so much more for Puerto Rico than say Ostapenko winning the French Open. Olympic Gold is just everything.
In singlesHe’s the first German to win Olympic Gold in singles tennis since Steffi Graf in 1988.

I said thatIn singles
Nah USO is best of 5 sets.Congrats to zverev! The best player in the tournament and this will do wonders for his confidence. He will be dangerous in New York for sure.
Khachanov is playing quite badly though. Looks like he wasn't ready to go further than the final.
Will he though? But he really wanted to win this Olympic. He posted this a few times before Olympics even started.Serve - fantastic
Return - fantastic
And everything in between.. If he continues playing at this level - Sky is the limit..
I’m pleased Djokovic lost to the champion. Was the case in 2008 and 2012 too. Yep this will be the launch pad he needs I feel. It changed Andy Murray for the better and I feel it will have a positive impact on Zverev too.Clearly the best player in the tournament. Has put himself there. He is winning winning 7,8,9, 10 games in a row AT WILL! Devastating performance
Sorry.I said that
I just can't get why people 'hate' a player. I LOVE tennis, and can't be happier when people play like this as it is such joy to watch. All this animosity on the board between the big 3 clans is so very sad. Support whoever you like, but no need for insults. We are so lucky having been privileged to enjoy super high level of tennis for so long.Sascha haters just all vomited.
ATP500 is more prestigious, no?
He’ll a lot further than that I feel. He got to the final last year so he clearly likes the conditions there and this time of the year.Street looking unbeatable
Will lose 4th round in New York
Well, sometimes finals are a blow out! 6-3, 6-1!
Didn't the gold medalist got 750 points in London 2012?
Gosh he is pale.Alex from Santa Monica gets it done. ABZ in shambles. Surf’s up dudes!
We will see bro. I think we need to give credit to Zverev performance here and not keep knocking him down. He may be ready to step up in a slam now. One of these next gen players will soon.Same position: Zverev will NEVER win a slam. His game can get hot in a best of 3. But he's never sustained his level in a slam for 7 best of 5 matches.
He's been in this position before so many times with famous best of 3 wins. But he never follows up with anything at the slam level where it matters. Tragically, Zverev has already peaked even at his youngish age.
Novak in slams is a different animal. Zverev has shown zero capacity to be able to deal with that.

I agree. I think he will surprise a few people in New York. This might be his moment. He’s playing well, likes hard courts and this olympic gold could give him the belief. He’s always had a powerful game and big weapons and serve.there was a time when people critizised that Zverev couldn‘t go deep at slams. Now he regularly reaches the later stages of slams (semifinals and finals). He developed. So why shouldn’t he be able to make the next step and winning grand slam events? After all, he is 24 and not some 30 year old finished player.
When on song Zvee has serious firepower!I agree. I think he will surprise a few people in New York. This might be his moment. He’s playing well, likes hard courts and this olympic gold could give him the belief. He’s always had a powerful game and big weapons and serve.
His main rivals are all question marks too. Tsitsipas is a bit mentally fried after RG. Meddy is going through a funk. Djoko has hit a wall and is pretty physically and mentally exhausted right now. Nadal is also a question mark on hard courts and which he has the game, stamina and serve to win it now. Thiem is injured and out of shape and matches. Fed is too old and worn out body now.
If we factor all that in I think Zverev has a shot. He got to the final last year and was a whisker from the title so it’s not that crazy to think he can win this time.
Yep if he fixes it he’s a multi slam winner and future no1. The guy has everything when he’s on.When on song Zvee has serious firepower!
The brain in 5 setters needs fixin now!
It is unreal how brutal Djokovic is in 5 setters.Yep if he fixes it he’s a multi slam winner and future no1. The guy has everything where he’s on.
Yeah it just shows you have good Djokovic has been in 5 sets to keep them at bay. The gap is narrowing though and I think Zverev and likes of Medvedev/Tsitsipas aren’t far away from the next step:It is unreal how brutal Djokovic is in 5 setters.
Just can chill and bust the moves pace maker installed.
I actually am going to give some credit to all the youngsters for doing as well as they have against the 3 amigos in 5 setters!
But thats just me!
He is a MENTAL MIDGET. He has never shown the capacity to deal with pressure at slam level. A future multi slam winner does NOT choke like a little girl and can't even get his second serve over the net. Not to mention UFEs.there was a time when people critizised that Zverev couldn‘t go deep at slams. Now he regularly reaches the later stages of slams (semifinals and finals). He developed. Disagree slightly bro. A next gen slam winner will probably come from the future gen - Shapo/Sinner/FAA.Yeah it just shows you have good Djokovic has been in 5 sets to keep them at bay. We will put I see a new winner is likely at this us open. We can’t write off Nadal yet either. Let’s see them play on the lead up events too. The draw will be crucialDisagree slightly bro. A next gen slam winner will probably come from the future gen - Shapo/Sinner/FAA.
The current next gen are mental midgets. They have also been damaged beyond repair by Novak. They are mentally broken.
Med: Peaked in 2019. Not the same player since. His serve is no longer what it used to be. Lacks offense in general and fades away vs a red hot player.
Titspas: Crappy ROS. In a funk after F.O. Will NEVER be good on faster surfaces such as grass or fast hard.
Thiem: Peaked physically and mentally in 2020. Might be done for the near future or forever.
Zverev: Known headcase. Can not sustain his level at slams for 7 matches.
None of these guys look like multi slam winner. In NYC as well - you won't see any of them winning.
