Mine is Volkl Cyclone 19G. Was part of the TW and Volkl play test.. Could not believe how great this string is... at the time is was only $7.99 a set. Super easy on the arm... spin off the charts..

Great tension holding.. and it is quite durable for a 19G. It is a perfect match for those tight 18 x 20 frames. Andy G.. did not break it during the TW review cycle. Guy has ATP points...

Still my go to string.

But as I played with it more, I found it had everything I was looking for, which was high launch angle, good to great spin capability, low tension loss, and long durability. Add high levels of putaway power and I haven't found a similar combination in any other string so far.

If they would extrude this same material in a sharply square sided string, I don't know that I would ever need to try anything else.

I was planning to test it in the very near future (Thanks for all the detailed info you keep giving on this string thread, it’s very valuable !) along with isospeed grey Fire but now that tennis is shutdown, I’ll have to wait...

To answer the question, I must say that despite the hype, I was/am fairly amazed by Alu power. There’s magic inside !

I would have to say gut/poly in general. I did not think that it was possible to play with a comfortable setup with great touch/feel and still get the spin. I currently play with gut/cream and have been thinking of trying gut with Weiscannon Silver.

I'd have to agree with Tourna Silver 7 Tour.
After a week of play testing (inc. match play) I bought a reel of it. I just instantly gelled with this string as it just seemed to do everything really well. At a great price point also, it is hard to find a real negative.

Considering how low the price is for a reel, pros pro gutex ultra is a fantastic performing nylon string for non-string breakers and closed pattern players.

I have really liked Signum Pro Yellow Jacket. Traded for a set of 17L gage and wasn’t sure about it before it strung it. But I really enjoyed the feel of it in the Prince 100P at 45lbs. It might be a bit ‘plasticy’, but I tend to like that feel more in polys anyways.

Kirschbaum Spiky Shark 17g (yellow). I wanted a spin friendly string (which was definitely delivered), but I was not expecting the really nice feeling response from the stringbed, and the control was great.
Pacific Poly Force was recommended to me by a stringer once and I decided to try it, not knowing anything about the brand or product. Loved how it played, and was also one of those polys I didn't feel like I was losing control of - and was complimented when I mixed a syn gut in the crosses.

volkl cyclone tour 16g...shoutout to @g4driver, amazing ball pocketing sensation with gut like softness while also retaining spin and durability like properties of poly. String feels substantially heavier than most other strings so I only use it in the mains and pair it with signum pro poly plasma 17L crosses because i also love the feel of that string but only as a cross because it is not shaped so doesnt provide enough bite for me. I string VCT 16g / SPPP 17L at low 40s in my vcore pro 100 and it is AMAZING!!! Feels better/softer than gut/poly at 50/47 for me. I have 3 racquets strung with gut/poly that I don’t even use anymore because VCT/SPPP feels better (I have 8 VCP 100 lol)

I also do not like the Volkl Cyclone line.... I was part of the TW play testers that did the 19G.... was indeed I was blown away when it really worked for me.

I thought... the string would break in two hours.. it did not. The control would be horrible.. it was not. Tension holding would be bad.. it was great for a 19G and the spin production was out of this world. It was only $7.99 a set. Then Chris and Andy G. did a full review and they loved it. Most of the TW play testers gave it high marks.. so yes.. I am also not a Cyclone guy. I have the 18G.. and it is not even close to being the same for me.

I was looking at TWU string database some years ago to find myself a soft poly, and Topspin Cyberflash 17L did fit that bill on paper, I had absolutely no expectation but liked the silver color when I got it in hand. Wow that string played great and soft, with decent power, control, spin and tension stability, it kind of has the whole package. This is my reference string and I haven't found another string I like so much. It is cheap too.

Tourna Silver 7 Tour I really liked a lot for playability, spin and tension maintenance. However the string plays kind of stiff IMO and I got some wrist problems. I do hope once my wrist heals up, it was not the string as I liked it a lot.

On the other side I never liked the Cyclone Tour, and much to my big surprise it played stiff (compared to CF), I played both 16, 17 and 18g. I know everybody else think this is the softest of all strings, but not to me.

Polystar energy 17, I like a lot, very soft, but tension maintenance is really bad.

-head.hawk, i found to be very similar to Topspin.CyberFlash, it has that dry poly feel that i liked from t.cyber.flash, maybe a tab crisper, not much though, very similar imo
-head.hawk touch is a bit on the crisp side, but good tension maintenance, goes down in tension, very, very slowly, like lux 4g (if you are into that type of crisp string)
-have you tried Topspin_Cyber_Whirl , its not same as Cyber flash, but it does produce a pit more spin because of the edges

Its in my sig. but i have a wilson xp1 i am hitting with for the 3rd time strung with kev16g/4g 16g at 86/76

Also have another wilson on the way. Tw doesnt carry it so best not to say. But its light stiff and a 110”. Read a post on lighter and spinnier and more angles. Will see. Been down this path before and liked it but racquet wasnt stiff enough so finding stiffer options is worth a try.

only the 16g feels heavy for me and provides the amazingly indescribable ball pocketing sensation that feels otherworldly. The one thing about VCT that is glaringly bad is the tension maintenance but 16g is not that bad. The thinner gauges lose tension real fast.

After experimenting for about six months my go-to set up was FireWire mains and slippery round cross string like their Ghost Wire and Prince XC. Triangle-shaped mains are my thing. Last December, I tried Mayami's Big Spin, another triangle shaped string with their Magic Twist for the cross. My go-to setup now, Big Spin+Magic Twist gives predictable control (laser like on a fresh set) with copious amounts of spin regardless where I standing on the court. If you can't generate your own pace well, Firewire+Magic Twist is a good choice try, too.

Yes only use 16g / 1.30mm VCT

Don't even think about thinking about 1.25mm and thinner. They are too thin to hold tension but 1.30 VCT works great. I have my numerous posts about how 1.30mm works where 1.25mm fails.

Had 7 or 8 USTA 4.5C men bumped to 5.0 using this string last few years. This is the the popular string 4.5 and 5.0 men choose from me and I have 15+ various poly reels including Lux Alu Power, Solinco Hyper-G and Revolution, Tier1 FireWire, Head Hawk, Hawk Touch, Yonex PPT, Wilson Revolve , RPM Blast and good old Volkl Cyclone.

VCT is approx 18-20 grams for a full bed, and 10 grams for the mains only.

I was fairly impressed with Big Spin, and a bit less so with Firewire Boost only because for me the cross string in the Boost hybrid set was too mushy for my liking.

Big Spin worked well for me. Gave me basically Hyper-G levels of spin and power with more comfort and a less muted feel. I ended up getting a reel of it and strung it up for four people, including myself, and distributed several more sets to others to try. The general consensus was that it was a nice string that these 4.5 level players felt they could switch to, except that the initial high level of playability didn't last long enough. For me, the sharp edge wears smooth by six hours and at that point, it ends up with the grip level of a very thin gauge round string. For some others who didn't hit quite as consistently hard, something changed in the string itself so that even though the edge was still sharp, it ended up losing launch angle and bite on the ball.

The other difficulty is in just stringing a twisted triangular string. As the crosses are pulled, the flat surfaces want to remain that way, so the string ends up excessively twisted in the section that has not been pulled across the mains unless I take care to make sure the twists travel across the mains.

It adds up to a lot of extra effort to string, and because the string doesn't last me any more than six hours whereas 1.20 Hyper-G is good for at least ten and is easier to string, even the lower cost of Big Spin doesn't make it worthwhile for me.

I only tried one set of Firewire Boost, and am curious to try it again with a firmer cross string, but I'm thinking that once the triangular edge wears down, it will again act like a very thin round string. The red and white color was pretty hideous in my Blade, however.

On a sep note, do you have any update on Mayami strings? I know the official account was banned but I was hoping to buy some Big Spin and Magic Twist reels and not sure how to at the prices he promised. I mean with the covid 19 situation it can all wait for sure, but would be good to know if there is US distribution in place now or not like he promised and where to get them etc.

WCS is super stable and consistent but I was very disappointed when I tried it. It just didn't gel for me. Same with Signum pro.

I found that slick hard poly worked well even if the tension maintenance isn't the best. Would be curious to see it with Black Knight.

Isospeed used to make a triangle string.. PITA on your fingers and dive bomb spin for the first 30 mins then total trash. I'm giving FW another shot. I have it crossed in one stick and it wasn't too bad.
