7-7 again. Man, this looks like it will never it. I beg Maria just holds her serve 1 more time and then break Patty's serve.

ARE YOU CONSTIPATED?!?!?!

Who in their right mind would rather watch Sharapova over mens tennis?

Schnyder should have closed this match out. Now Sharapova has momentum and is keeping the pressure on Patty

No, i just want a player like Maria's quality will stay longer in the tournament. No offence but this is getting too long.

The French crowd: once again showing that it has the least class of any tennis crowd in the world, including New York (though the two are pretty close).

I think the end is near and Patty knows it. Sharapova is pumped up. When Pova is on a roll it's like an Abrams tank.

Get out the way!!

Nevermind Patty wasn't read for that serve that what everyone was booing. Like a JH vs Serena match

BTW, "navratilovafan" is right. The lower level of speed, ball striking, endurance, and shotmaking in women's tennis indeed makes it superior to men's tennis.

:p

Sharapova has match point and has just won it from Patty's forehand wide. The crowd will be pissed now. Boo's and cheers

Mens tennis is currently a combination of big time dopers(Canas, maybe Nadal), one dimensional servers(Roddick, Ljubicic), boring and mentally fragile champions(Federer)and one-dimensional counterpunchers(Hewitt, Robredo, Davydenko, Nalbandian). If you call that superior to the wide combination of contenders, complete games, and interesting rallies and personalties of womens tennis then so be it. You will never convince me fo that.

Schnyder has herself to blame. Way to go on wasting all these chances. She was up a break 4 times and served for the match 3 times in the 3rd, but couldn't close it out, wasting 2 MPs.
That's what I hate about women tennis. Most of them are incapable of serving out a match (that includes top 10 player as well). Impressive how metally fragil these women players are. I don't see personalities all I see are screaming robotors bashing the ball from left to right hoping they go in most of the time. very few have a gameplan or can actually change their game. Most of them hit hard and if that doiesn't work hit even harder.

Federer is a mentally fragile champion? And you're a freaking moron. The latter is true, the former is not.

Womens tennis currently has a wide variety of capable contenders. You could even divide them into groups:

Americans-Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Jennifer Capriati(if she returns)

20-something Europeans-Justine Henin, Amelie Mauresmo, Martina Hingis

teenage up and comers-Shenay Peer, Nicole Vaidisova, Ana Ivanovic, Jelena Jankovic

Russian gals-Maria Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Nadia Petrova, Elena Dementieva

Now that is depth. So many legitimate contenders for slam titles. Wide variety of styles and personalities. Also no dopers near the top like Canas and possibly even Nadal. No boring top players like Federer. No boring pusher games like Nalbandian or Davydenko. No players with only a serve reaching #3 in the World like Roddick or Ljubicic.

Yes he crumbles vs any players who stand up to him. Just look at his losses. Serena, Maria, Justine, are #1 on the womens side who dont just cower when a player stands up to them.

I just hope you don't get crossed up and post this on your alter-ego account, federerfanatic.

Actually, I hope you do...would be pretty funny. ;)

Notice how he also lists Capriati as a contender, should she return. Hahaha. Contender for what? Most likely under-35 former Slam winner to never reach a Slam final again? Interestingly, he has strikingly similar thoughts to his pre-federerfanatic alter-ego, capriatifanatic.

Womens tennis is way more unpredictable. Which is good because there is no sure winner of every tournment. Which makes it more enntertaining in that respect. But with mens it's ethier Nadal or Federer and everyone else eat's their table scraps. But the men don't have so many chockers. Which lead to more consistant wins or upsets.

sharapova and schnyder match... boos and hisses...

This is off-topic, or backtracking, but I was confused by the crowd getting so worked up over that call about the serve. I was watching the match, and based on what I saw and on the replays, this is what happened with the serve/call mix-up:

1) sharapova was in her service motion,
2) toss was in the air already when some ********* in the crowd behind her shrieked,
3) sharpova hit the ball, then
4) patty's paw went up, and she didn't even move toward the serve, clearly intending to stop play.

Sharpova claims she say Patty's hand only after serving the ball, which I believe, because the whole thing went down during her serve. The ump either didn't see Patty's hand or considered her gesture too late, because he awarded the point to Sharapova. I thought it should be a replay so I sympathized with poor Patty, but I don't see how it's maria's sportsmanship to blame.

What is the rule here, exactly? And why did the crowd take it out on Sharpova? It's NOT the same thing that went down between Jh and Venus, because JH straight-up lied to the ump. Does anyone know the actual rule?

They took it out on Sharapova because the Parisian crowd is one RUDE bunch, not afraid to act shady. Seriously.. they made Martina Hingis cry ::tear:: .. j/k =D you can say she deserved..

But it definately isn't like JHH vs Serena because if I remember correctly it was SERENA that was booed following JHH's cheatin' ways.

Crowds always root for the underdog.. and the Parisian crowd is the rowdiest of all the GS

One thing that does seem to be predictable in the women's game is that Big Babe tennis seems to work on all surfaces. Look at how many bashers are in the QFs. Henin and Kutznetsova are natural clay courters, but both women hit pretty big as well. Those two are all that stands between a bash-fest final.

LOL! Thanks. I know Sharapova is widely hated, but I didn't think she deserved the treatment she received from the crowd today. It was a well-fought match regardless of who won, and the crowd should have thanked both players for the heart they showed. Booing the victor after such an epic battle is just plain silly.
