8 men.

Nadal and Federer confirmed. Murray(if not injured).
Thiem, Wawrinka. Cilic
Novak not playing.

WTF for WTF?

Zverev? Dimitrov? Goffin? The Bird? Kei? Raonic? Tsonga?

Its not enough voting options I could put all the hopes in. But with my logic thinking I came to a conclusion that Cilic, Thiem, Murray and Waw sure enough to leave out from the poll.

I wouldn't have thought Murray is safely through. Some early exits in North America assuming he plays and he's struggling to get in.
2017 RACE:
1 Rafael Nadal 7095 in
2 Roger Federer 6545 in
3 Dominic Thiem 3345 a lock
4 Stan Wawrinka 3150 a lock
5 Marin Cilic 2905 almost a lock
6 Alexander Zverev 2710 almost a lock
7 Novak Djokovic 2585 out
8 Andy Murray 2290 bad hip
9 Grigor Dimitrov 1925 Dimitrough should be in:rolleyes:
10 Tomas Berdych 1905 Declined on clay and not decisively better than any of the other contenders on hard courts
11 David Goffin 1845 Struggling in his comeback the last two week:confused:
12 Pablo Carreno Busta 1740 Stomach pulled again
13 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 1705 Hard to get over the last two slam mishaps despite 3 tournament wins this year
14 Kei Nishikori 1695 horrible year so far
15 Milos Raonic 1695 only decent match this year was barely beating Zed at Wimby:eek:
16 Sam Querrey 1690 darkhorse now with the Wimby point haul
17 Gilles Muller 1515 doubt it
18 Albert Ramos-Vinolas 1510 no
19 Lucas Pouille 1455 another darkhorse

Really the last two spots are in play. Lo and behold almost all of 6 through 19 are in action next week in Washington. Hipray can be had for sure. My worst fear is Berdbrain somehow poisons the waters at WTF.

Expecting Dimitrov and probably Murray if he's able to play. Tsonga or Goffin would be a nice change.:p

The two last spots are pretty open. Someone can make a couple of good runs upcoming matches and get a spot.
Think Thiem and Sasha will be there.

Im hoping for Lucas. Im not so sure about these youngsters HC form. It will be interesting to see next weeks!
I guess Thiem is a lock. Pouille is probably a stretch, he has been average this season.

If Dimitrov gets in it will feel like it's due to his performance in the first month of the year...
I feel he belong in the top 8, specially after AO. He seem to fold to big players, but he belongs top 8 imo. He is almost too talented for his own good. I wish he could climb the top.. do the last part. Think its mental stuff that has stopped him. Wish he could have a more tough coach as Lendl. I have even thought of Judy Murray could be good for him.

There's nothing I'd rather have in tennis than Grigor finally figuring out how to use his tools on a consistent basis. He's such a fun player to watch when he's performing as he did at the AO...

He is a nice guy too. Very kind. And soft. Think that is his problem. He has all the weapons to win slams in his game. He must be the most clever guy in ATP when he is on.
He is a super fun player to watch. With a (too) big shot selection making it hard to stick to game plan. How I wish he would have a more strict and analytical coach. Someone like Toni too would be good.

I've been interested in the personality and intellect part of the game lately... The more I study psychology the more I wonder to which extent it plays a role.

Would be interesting to know how Grigor scores on a personality test, might help him to make a game plan that suits him in that dimension.

I'm a bit confused by Pouille. He has weapons off both wings, a good serve, pretty good movement, a good net game too...

But by god does he give matches away at times. Like his game a lot, but his mind is... Very french...? :p
He is not a good frontrunner. Its like he needs to be a set and a break down to start focusing :p:eek: Which is a feature many youngsters lack, that they cant come back. But he cant do that all the time and looses easy matches that way. Pretty annoying w players you know can do much better.
Its like that w Dimi too, just know he can do better. Pretty annoying, specially when you want them to win.

Dimitrov to me is pretty good as a frontrunner usually, but when he's trailing.... ugh. Pouille is more of the opposite, plays better when trailing but when he leads he has large lapses of concentration at times (a lot like me really...).

How fun you are studying psychology!
I have met Grigor and for all the players I have met he sticks out being caring and empathic.

Yes, I wasnt reffering Grigor to be a bad frontrunner, more the annoyance watching matches when you know he is better.
Like the match he lost in RG this year. He was goating then just messed the whole thing up.

Well in my private time at least, currently I'm studying economics and philosophy most of all haha

But I do want to pursue a graduate degree in psychology after this. Really drawn to the subject, my bachelor thesis actually is largely psychology based.

I have studied some psychiatry first year medicine school. Very interesting subject, I have to know to be able to give medications. I had to learn the diagnoses.

I'm guessing he'd score fairly high on agreeableness, I see how that personality dimension has the potential to take away from the competitive edge. Other youngsters have other problems though, Kyrgios for example (in my estimation) seems to be somebody who would score rather low on conscientiousness, as that would seem to explain his (relatively) lacking discipline/drive. Anyways, don't wanna get myself into too much trouble with such analyses from afar, let's leave it at that haha :p

I fear the lineup may not be all that great. King Roger may reflect on the success he's had this year and decide to take another break after the USO to be fresh for 2018, and Rafa is usually running on empty by November. No Djokovic, and possibly no Murray either (either through injury or not qualifying).

No wonder there's plenty of tickets still available...

Marin Cilic - WTF champ 2017.

I really don't think Roger would skip the WTF unless there's a pressing reason

Excactly. Thats why I think he needs a more non emotional coach, one that is "dry" and strict.
Anyways, its pretty good to just reach top 10 in tennis and he has a remarkable career. That being said, he is probably one of the few players I know that better than his ranking.

Think tennis as a sport has gone down recent years. Since not even Federer in a Wimbledon final, Rafa in RG...got Fedal confirmed WTF.... less people watching. Tennis need some fresh blood, and young blood too! I think more people will get interested if someone like Sasha started winning.

No, it's usually sold out. Sometimes there are tickets available up in the nosebleeds, but that's because it's such an unpleasant experience up there.

He's not very French, actually he's half Finnish (for real :D) and he's among the most clutch players on tour, at least statistically. But he's injury prone, hence his bad start this season and he seems to be stagnating right now... He need to regroup and aim for more very soon, or he'll be stuck in the 10-20 ranks for ever.

Maybe Nikkon or whats its called have more tickets available?
Barclays had so many tickets for the employers. I normally got tickets from a friend working there or on Viagogo. I have had the most amazing tickets in WTF. And not that expensive too. But WTF is the worst tournament I have ever been to, only good is that I have had these amazing front row seats. I would never taking the travel there sitting up there. I wouldnt do that for slams either. Then TV is better ;)

Dimitrov in 10th and last spot. Zverev looks certain to make his debut. Raonic and Nishikori not currently going to qualify.
