So Nadal is looking good at the moment and Muzz is looking bad. I know it's just an exho but I'm going to follow TT tradition and overreact based on 2 days of tennis. Djokovic had a rough patch but he looked out of it mostly mentally, so expect him to come back recharged at the AO. Besides, AO is his favorite slam and he always does well there.
Add to this the fact that the lost generation, albeit a bit improved, is still looking like they couldn't win a slam to save their lives. This makes it look like it could really come down to Nadal and Djokovic battling it out like the good ol' days.
This seemingly continuing dominance of Nadalovic and the long wait for the new generation to dominate can be seen as an unfortunate surprise for Federer fans, as they had thought the 17 GS-record was quite safe.
This begs the question: Who of them do you want to win the next slam the most? In other words: Who are you least afraid of? Would you let Nadal win a final slam, as you're pretty confident he won't ever win one again anyway? But know that it would give him the double CGS. Or would you pick Djokovic, as he's further away from 17? But know that he's likely to go on a hot streak again and a few multislam seasons is enough to give him the GS record.
PS: Obviously other fans can answer as well. But mainly I wanted this question to be answered from the perspective of someone that wants to keep Fed's record safe.
