Toni Nadal: It will be my last season with Rafael Nadal on the tour

Bollocks. It's easy to say that for Djokovic who is in his prime. But for Nadal? How many GS finals did he reach since the 2014 FO?
Well Nole took a long time to get going. He won his 2nd slam in 2011, 3 years after winning his first one in 2008 and considering Nole has never missed a slam and Rafa has missed quite a few due to injury, Rafa is still 2 slams ahead of him. Djoker was a one slam wonder for 3 years and was slamless for his first 4 years after turning pro.

By the way, Rafa is only one year older than Djoker and Rafa and Roger define this era. When Rafa was winning slams for fun, Djoker could only look on in awe.

Every reasonable person acknowledges that Rafa has been plagued with injury and illness since 2012 and has been sidelined for more than 15 months in that period. He still came back in 2013 after being out for 7 months in 2012 and won two out of the 3 slams he played that year overtaking Djoker in the rankings ending the year as #1.

That's just a Toni hater's wishful thinking.

Not sure what is there to hate about a guy who taught someone the strategy to to fetch the ball endlessly. That strategy was never going to last.

I even think this Toni guy could have contributed "nothing".

#18 proves that Fed is the greatest. Nadal can keep his fake bunny and abuse it, the only way he is going to be happy hereafter.

Nothing Don Toni can do now but maybe wash the toilets of Nadal's academy. So yeah. Good call.
Federer is 35 nadal is 30. Nadal has 14 majors federer has 18. If nadal plays another 6 years then he is likely to get 20 majors unless federer or djokovic or murray stop him consistently. History shows federer is incapable but for once a decade and likewise murray has a poor record against nadal at the majors.

So by process of elimination only djokovic will be stopping nadal. And if its djokovic then he may well get past federer as he is younger than nadal.

Federer needs a couple more majors to be secured as goat i think.

What we have learned after the ao is federer fans deep down think nadal is goat. The vitriol to nadal since federer won has been bizarre. These were the same people who said federer had no chance despite the fact the court was like a home advantage cout such was how it faboired federer and his extra days rest.

Its as if the fact nadal still took their hero to 5 sets has taken the gloss off the win as they fear tbat nadal is back and may win the fo and uso and therefore be primed to get past federer record.

No other fans of other players are as bitter as so many federer fans are. Its not just nadal they insult its djokovic and murray as well. Its pure jealousy that all three tend to win 2 out of 3 matches they play with federer.

To have a go at uncle toni beggars belief.

My point was - being in that final is quite big achievement for him after struggles for 2 years. It shouldn't be played down just because Djokovic is winning slams left and right in his prime.

Djokovic is not in his prime, he is nearly 30 years old. He's had a free ride because Nadal has been injured for 4 years losing his form. Of course, under the circumstances, this was a great achievement for Rafa considering his injury woes since 2012, but there is no need to bring Djokovic into the equation considering he lost in the 2nd round to a WC.

No one was comparing Djokovic to Nadal. And yes, Nadal is a great champion, one of the all time greats who is not interested in only making finals, winning is all that counts as far as he is concerned.

Djokovic didn't win much until 2011 when he suddenly became a machine. Funny that. :)

Can you EVER accept that Nadal's injuries are a direct result of his playing style? You act all these years like it's been a bunch of freakish injuries that uniquely befall poor Rafaito. Rafa has won exactly what he's deserved and no more due to his playing style.

Biggest coaching related story in a long, long time imo. And this is in an age of big coaching stories......

Hopefully Nadal thrives in the wake of this. Would like Roig to get more credit now and also interesting to see what Moya can do with proper control over things.

What is Nadal's full team now? i.e. fitness combined with the on-court team.....

I am sure that this is another record by the eternally injured peak golden Bull?

They are misarable. They have constructed a zillion fake stories about Rafa and these stories keep coming.

What isn't fake is that Nadal has to catch Federer's slam count, not the other way around. No matter how you try and spin it, that's the reality.

This is probably yet another tactic from Tio to control his puppet.

Threaten to leave to see if little nephew is capable of one last big push in the hopes that Tio will not do it , if nephew succeeds.

Newsflash for little nephew: Tio is doing it anyway at some point.

No wonder, he sounded like the proverbial "toota record" in Hindi.
For every message that (s)he writes, you strongly feel you have read it before !

Rafa's team:
Toni Nadal - coach
Carlos Moya - coach
Francisco Roig - coach
Carlos Costa - agent
Benito Pérez-Barbadillo - public relations manager
Rafael Maymo - physiotherapist (travels with Rafa)
Joan Forcades - physical trainer (trains Rafa in his gym)

The sheer narcissism of this announcement. Why does he think anyone outside of ************* gives a f*ck?

You obviously do. How many VB have posted on this thread? It wasn't an announcement, Toni answered a question.

You are in denial that Nadal is one half of the 2 players who define this era. As Federer said, tennis needs Rafa.

There is not nearly the drama about Federer's coaches. Uncle Toni is a total drama queen. I never respected how he talked up Federer before big matches.

If Toni haters' (aka Fedlovers, usually) had not made up 'dramas' about Uncle Toni, there would't have been any 'dramas' on the Internet sites.

It's not Rafa's fans who are blowing it out of all proportions; in fact we are at pains to point out that it's a non-story but you guys are going to town about it, reading all sorts of things into it. You just can't stop talking about Nadal.

You can all do us a favour and move on, this isn't a story.

You realize that that was 4 years ago, no? And Rafa isn't getting any younger, not to mention his style of game doesn't exactly lend itself to short points.

Man, the pain must be unbearable. On behalf of Roger Federer, I apologize for causing it to you.

Don't worry, I'm sure Rafa will soon be back to losing in the second round to some 100+ ranked guys so you won't have to suffer deep into the second week...

I think he can make it to the QF and SF of the HC and Clay Masters so Novak, if he's decided to focus on tennis and not being the next Mahatma Ghandi, can whip him. 15 straight sets now for the Serb over the Matador.

He-he, not really, but I took it on myself to soothe Drlexus' pain. He was/is clearly suffering.

But, back on topic, any new developments? Has Rafa commented, to some reputable Spanish sports paper, for example? I'm sure he's being asked all the time now to comment.

And Novak is getting younger and his game lends itself to short points? Rafa's injuries are probably due to him being very successful at a very young age before his body was fully formed. Of course Djokovic was 21 before he won his first slam and didn't win another one until he was 24.

Ive got same knee injury as Rafa, I can assure you its not my "playing style"
So fed up w the stupid argument that Rafas playing style causes his injuries.

U.Toni was in Hungary from February 10 to 12. I haven't yet seen any new info.
