Yeah Costa is a strange one, on ability alone it's madness to sell him on. He has a bit of an injury history and his behaviour on and off the pitch is something that counts against him, so I can understand why alternatives are being looked at. The problem is, there just isn't anyone out there better than him at the moment. Lewandowski, Mbappe and Aubameyang would be good, but the former will probably stay where he is and the latter two will receive better offers. Which leaves Lukaku and Morata, which are both serious downgrades imo.

Nowadays it's really refreshing to see old guys, as well as really young kids play. Physical strength is not important, it's all about skill, and fair play is written all over those games. It's tough to expect this in the most serious game between professionals at their best since the stakes are enormous, but football has gone backwards in the last 10-15 years IMO. Nowadays many will use any means necessary to win.

As for United, I'm not really frustrated with things now. This is not my first transfer window. Still a while to go, although every time I saw that there is less time to go. I hope there are deals that are just waiting for the signature. Seems to be the same names over and over. Morata is close to signing, but will he ever sign? And will he sign for United? If only it was like Milan. I was reading about people being excited about using an improved Milan team on the video games this year. They have tied up 5-6 signings so far. Fabio Borini to bring the glory days back.

All joking aside.. we're looking at going into the season with one striker, Batshuayi. Not sure if that means we're going to throw crazy money at a Belotti or maybe a Sanchez, both are incredibly unlikely but the alternative of doing nothing is a disaster.

He scored a very solid number of goals for Everton. Surely he can manage to score more in Manchester and add some in the biggest games.

I didn't want him back at Chelsea, I feel he goes missing and doesn't have the nasty streak that you need to lead the line in a Chelsea side (Drogba, Costa). There are rumours about Sanchez, but as good a player as he is, I feel the team in general would lose something with him as the focal point.

I don't know if there is a player out there who has the DNA to fill that role, maybe Belotti, I've not seen enough of him. Either way, the way the Costa situation has been handled is the biggest disappointment for me personally.

I would have been sounding a bit like Michael Owen earlier. He gave a message about Lukaku the other day, saying he isn't convinced by him. He got the usual witty replies. I can see where he is coming from though. Maybe he is talking about the big games or whatever.

I must not have been paying attention. Didn't realise his scoring record is as good as it is.

Centre backs know they're going to be battered and bruised all game, most often in the big games. Think of Drogba against Barcelona year after year, Costa single handedly turning the game against City away last Christmas etc.. Lukaku isn't that.

I don't think the way Man Utd are playing at the moment requires that skill set, they definitely need goals though and he's got that nailed down. So good signing I think.
