I don’t want to sound too pessimistic, but the similarities to the Millman match are glaring. I mean in regards of the missed opportunities and the development of the score. The quality of the match itself is clearly much higher today.

Yup. I'm going to bed. I'll find out the rest of the story tomorrow, after I get some sleep. It's 5:30 AM here. I stayed up for all 5 sets for the final of 2017, not going to do that again. Either Fed rights the ship or Tsits deserves to win. I just hope whoever wins has enough energy for the next match. Though I have to wager that Fed is due for a bunch of converted BPs soon.

I think the opposite. Now that Cilic is out and B. Agut will likely be tired from all his matches, if Fed has any shot of winning he needs a stern test before possibly facing Rafa, let alone Novak. I'm still firmly of the belief that Fed got through that AO 2017 final because he was battle tested.

So personally I think this will only help if he manages to get through this one.
