Tomic is back, again!

Plays Dustin Brown in Hertogenbosch qualifying, a tournament that Andy Murray was due to enter before delaying his comeback.

This one could be tasty! Dustin Brown is not to be underestimated on grass

I only got engaged in tennis in the past couple of years. Tomic was not a factor. But I watched part of his match against Sousa and I was impressed. Tomic hit with ease. He created plays out of nothing.
Now if only his brain could keep this up!!

He was floating around the court, making it look so easy, getting to balls that looked unhitable.
Mixed in some pace and served a bunch or aces.
Most of all, seemed to really be enjoying it. Should be an interesting final.

Bernie has the talent to be a top 10 player. The way he played that semi final showed how easy the game comes to him.

If a guy like Gilles Simon can reach world number six and Kevin Anderson world number five it's obvious Bernie would get there if his head was screwed on right.

Really cool to see a player smiling their way through a tournament as if they were just happy to be there. Clearly he had zero expectations, and rightly so at this point. I hope he can keep up this kind of play. I'll take his artistry and shotmaking over a dozen Millmans and De Minaurs scraping over the line with little more than a never say die attitude and footspeed.

Surprised people not mentioning this: Tomic saved 3 MPs in the 3rd set TB to win against the Fog in the final. And you just have to check out yourself how the first MP went down.

Just posted this in another thread:

Wow, how many match points did Tomic have to save en route to winning this title? That was some impressive clutchness from him. In his own words:

“I should have lost five times,” said Tomic. “In the second round in qualifying to Gerasimov, I was down 0/40 at 4-4 in the third set and I somehow got through that match; against Klahn in the first round I was down 7-6, 3-1 and in the second round I was down a match point as well against Harris. It’s been a rollercoaster, but I played more aggressive in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. I don’t know how many match points I saved today."

So Bernie returns to the winners' enclosure for the 1st time in 3 and a half years and notches up a 4th ATP title. Congrats to him! Does this mean he has finally rediscovered his love for tennis??

As for Fabio...FOUR championship points??? Ouch, just ouch. This one is going to smart for some time, the one that well and truly got away from him!!!

Congrats to Bernie!
I have only been on this forum for a few years...and Bernie was already flaming out by that time.
What a pleasant surprise to see his talent in this tournament. His strokes seem effortless. Can he keep it up??

You can see him actually on the balls of his feet there. Incredible!

How could you not feel the Bern? The simple economical strokes. The classical Australian serve striking the ball on its way up in the toss with plenty of shoulder and absolutely no arching of the spine. The junk balling and intelligent variation, better than Kyrgios and second only to Fed. The intermittent tanking, even when appearing to be at his most motivated. He remains without peer. The sense of humour and, by tennis standards, very high sense of irony in keeping John Tomic listed as his coach.

I watched the whole thing. Honestly surprised Tomic won, he looked completely exhausted the whole time and was making a lot of errors off the forehand... definitely not his best performance. He was giving it his full effort though which is good to see.
