Thiem's one break was in a game where he hit the line like 9 times!
Rafa has a huge mental advantage on clay against pretty much everyone. Players are going to matches terrified because its Nadal and he's nearly unbeatable on clay. This mental advantage has helped Nadal over the years to maintain his dominance at Roland Garros.

If Curry from Golden State hits 50 three pointers in 60 attempts and I hit 4 out of 4 it doesn't mean I'm a better shooter than him. Just because I have a higher percentage.
The more volleys you do in a match the harder it is, because it is a technically difficult shot. Nadal doesn't do many of those because he doesn't feel feel confident about volleying.

An interesting thing is that they have changed the rule. Only 1 break per match. One of the comments people made is that gamesmanship stuff was running rampant in the juniors. I wonder where they learned it from?

Djokovic played 8 BO5 matches against Nadal on clay, a miserable 1-7 H2H. What makes you think Djokovic would do any better than Thiem is doing right now (again, Thiem already matched Djokovic and Fed's best performance against the Nadal in an RG final).

Didn't Djoko have to play 2 tough matches in a day or some such scheduling crap before Rome final ? Why are people pretending that this is a fair contest when Thiem has been playing for the 4th day in a row including 2+ hours yesterday ?
Wonder what will be done next year to take away Nadal's opponent's legs since roof won't let such schedule related robbery happen.
