Now with strung specs...

Oh man. Nice post. Now I really hope I get selected for the play test - the 98 strung specs sound sweet and pretty close to the ps 97 in terms of stiffness and swing weight. A little more head light - which I think is a good thing for me.

I'm in for the 98! It's not a '+', but at the end of the playtest I'll slap an XTP Butt Cap on it & see if I can give an "extended" review (pun intended).
Nice! Interested to see your review of this one. I was hoping to get in this for the 95, really interested in the new beam shape compared to how the outgoing model and SV95 played.

I’ll bet the selection emails are still going out. Once all the emails have been sent out, TW will update the thread to say all playtesters have been notified.
Their main post said by today. Don’t think I made it either. Looking forward to hearing about the 98 though. Specs look great on that stick.

Congratulations to the testers selected. Really want to here how the PTR plays on all these frames. I am on the PTR string playtest and really like the control PTR provides.

We have sent out an email to those selected to participate in the Yonex VCORE and received confirmation. For those that have received the email, congrats and we received all your confirmation emails!

For those that were not selected, thank you so much for applying. With this being Yonex's first racquet playtest, it was highly popular and we received an impressive turnout. It was awesome seeing so many people interested and so many potential great playtesters to choose from! Nonetheless, we are continuing to offer as many playtests to you guys as possible in te new year. We always like to leave these tips here:

Apply for string playtests first and leave detailed, thorough reviews. We generally have a larger amount of strings to send out for playtests and your chances are much higher of being selected. Additionally, it helps if you have a good history on the message board and are participating in a positive way especially in the shoe, string and racquet sections (bonus points if it is in threads related to the specific playtest).

Lastly, we like to make sure to spread the wealth. We try to give members a chance who were not selected to be on one of the last couple major playtests (racquet/shoe). If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at discussadmin@tennis-warehouse.com and we would be happy to help.

Thanks,
TW Staff

Congratulations to all selected! I really enjoyed the Tecnifibre TFight 295 RS test I was on, at first I thought it might be difficult to organize my thoughts in the review format, since I'm more of a holistic, impressionistic type of personality but once I worked on it I found it to be useful to me to think about the racket I was trying in a more detailed fashion.

It would be great if playtesters could include in their observations string bed openness so if too open, more controlled center, etc We all know the pattern but beyond that is what i am suggesting. Thank you
Good points. I can say that the previous iterations of these were fairly tight, the 100 was similar to the Wilson Ultra 100, the 98 and 95 were similar to the Blade 16x19 (I could be wrong, but I believe they had 8 mains in the throat).

Duke doesn't know what this is, but you guys do! :D

Actually, none of them had 8M in the throat. In spite of that there are variations so for example new ezone 100 and new PA both are 16x19 with 6 mains in the throat. The ezone still has a far more tighter center of a string bed.

Shows what I know. I was trying to sound really “racquet” intelligent. So... thanks for clarifying:)

I thought the initial post said you were supposed to string it with the PTR they're providing... but it's not there now, maybe I imagined it.
I didn’t see that when I applied, just it would come with the string. I would put in my normal string for 10 hours and when it breaks out in the PTR. I feel it would give a better feel of frame vs my mind saying ‘is it the frame or the string?’

Got my 95 today! Initial thoughts are the paint job is cool, the orange part has some metal flake which I didn’t realize till I saw it in person.

The hoop seems a bit wider in the middle and top which is good for me since my miss is towards the top of the frame. The specs were dead on as usual since it’s a Yonex 311 grams and 31CM balance unstrung.

I’ll be adding a Yonex Super grap overgrip, Yonex dampener and stringing mine up first with 1.15 hyper G my usual string at around 47 lbs and then will cut it and try the new Yonex provided string and write my formal review with both. In the meantime here are some comparisons with my current gen Vcore 95

Thanks again to TW for the opportunity!
