Just don’t get into long rallies with Medvedev and you’re golden. It’s a very simple gameplan and yet here we are seeing a rare example of it being implemented.

A player like Rublev must watch this and want to cry with all the effort he puts into losing to Med.
Haven't seen more one dimensional baseline player than rublev in top 8.

Agree. Carlos has dismantled his game here. Med needs to change his whole gameplan for him.
What can he change? In these type of conditions, this is probably what he's got. Lol. He needs faster low bouncing hard courts where he's more dangerous. He has a more counter punching style, and those guys need faster courts to redirect pace. Probably not a coincidence Murray never won here either.

Med can get away with his pattern of hitting neutral balls up the middle against most players in this field who can’t attack properly but when you have someone actually capable of doing so, regardless of whether they’re GOAT-tier at attacking (like Djokovic, Nadal, Alcaraz here), well it doesn’t end too great for him.

Medvedev the self-proclaimed "HC specialist" can look forward to the North American HC swing and the late indoor season. Medvedev still has trouble with drop shots, topspin, and without free points against someone like Carlitos is too much.

Raz is only just started getting grooved with the new RA65
you can see he has more time on the ball and better dropshots

This year could dethrone Nadal @RG with this kind of feel and accuracy
In the latin American Clay he was still trying to find his timing in matchplay
now seems he has succeeded

Already has the millions and the life.

I'm talking about being competitive against one of the better younger players in recent history.
To be fair, this is a pretty poor performance from Med, he's made too many unforced errors during the neutral rallies. I also think he'll be able to challenge Carlos under the faster conditions, this gritty surface doesn't really help his brand of tennis.

And if his attitude was "omg, these players have much more tools and bigger games than mine" from the beginning, he would've retired long ago and wouldn't have won anything.
