He has gotten way too cocky. Acted like a douchecanoe all week.

I generally like him, but this utter dismantling of his game and approach to tennis is mighty sweet.

He has been very talkative all week and how he loves video games
Well he was in a video game today where he was a raggety swan and the opponent was the Terminator

Ive said if before, Meds is Brooksby with a serve and reach

The important thing is that Nadal doesn’t win RG. We must unite together on this. @vive le beau jeu ! can post that pic of the world holding hands.

Well-deserved win from Carlitos. I just hope Medvedev learns from this brutal day and works on adjusting his tactics against Alcaraz and similar players. He has the brains to do that. It may take awhile but I do think he can make big changes in his play style.

That's a tall order. Medvedev has zero variety in his game. He is a defensive baseliner who has awkward flat groundstrokes, and his unusual shots and long reach make him challenging. But he has no plan B when the other guy's offense is stronger than Med's defense.

Just curious, everyone on here who seriously believed Medvedev was going to win this, what did you base that on? Sure, the Russian had a bad day. But even if he would have a good one, what weapons does he possess that can neutralize Alcaraz’ game? I really don’t see nothing while Alcaraz has all the tools to completely dismantle Meddy’s repertoire, which he showed today. It might have been a quicker affair than expected, but the outcome was as logical as it gets.

I thought the chance Medvedev had was to hit a hard, low, flat backhand to Carlos's backhand. That was the only shot Medvedev has that gave Carlos a little bit of trouble.

Title #8 for Alcaraz, 3rd at Masters 1000 level, 4th Big Title (placing him joint 6th with Wawrinka on the Current Players' Big Titles Leaderboard) and 2nd this season. He becomes the 3rd Spanish player to win Indian Wells after Corretja (2000) and Nadal (2007,2009,2013).

It definitely is a tall order. Good points all, I just feel like with a lot of work, he may be up to the challenge because of his mentality.

I thought Medvedev would be able to lull Carlos into playing a game of baseline pong with a good chance of winning if Charles made a lot of errors as he sometimes does, but unfortunately for Long Tall Danny, Alcaraz was in no mood to dabble in any of that foolishness. It was Medvedev making all the UEs, compounded by a miserable serving day.

Raz in his interview after the match, you can see this kid is simple minded in a good way.
Similar to young Nadal but more down to earth, hopefully no titanic size boats and following his idol too much!
Maybe less biting trophies and less pink would be more reflective of his alpha style game.

He prefers just chatting with family and friends than video games,YT vlogging and social credit movement.
His other PA98 buddies Rune and Fils are at a disadvantage in the ego departments vs Carlitos.

Ferrero Academy, the way its set up in the countryside with its natural settings looks ideal
compared to the over the top Claygoat and Mouratofroglou factories where Dimitrov invested in his coffin.
Dimitrov had similar potential but was very good looking and worried too much about style, flair and Povas.

Saw the highlights. That was as they say "Medvedev got destroyed!".

Beating FAA, Sinner, Med in a row, all of them in straights (and others too) - good work Alcaraz.
Also getting back #1 ranking.

Wouldn't be shocked if this loss gets to Med and he ends up losing 1R in Miami after this.

He's played a bunch of crap matches this tournament compared to his Rotterdam-Doha-Dubai streak, but he kept escaping them probably because he's in such a confident headspace due to the winning streak. Now that the bubble's burst, I could see him letting it spiral. Especially with the clay season coming up.
No doubt it's been a nice winning streak, but he still lost in the only big tournaments he contested this year.

What can he change? In these type of conditions, this is probably what he's got. Lol. He needs faster low bouncing hard courts where he's more dangerous. He has a more counter punching style, and those guys need faster courts to redirect pace. Probably not a coincidence Murray never won here either.
And yet won in Miami twice.

Medvedev has one of the worst forehands on the tour atleast in top 20, top 50. He can't finish the point with his forehand. If he doesn't improve then he can't do any damage on slower courts + clay. Medvedev has other superior skills but doesn't matter if you can't finish any point. Huge weakness... Unlike Med, Alcaraz has all the tools. Congrats to him.

and they think that works?
I don't know. But I'm sure today's lazy kids could do with some exercise. And it's the parents that need to push them hard into sports otherwise every kid will just sit around watching Tik Tok videos or playing Xbox. Looking at those winner's cheques on TV, parents will be thinking "Gosh! You just hit a ball over a net and can make all that money?? I bet my kid could do that!" :D

Come on,,, Med won 19 in a raw was a better player for 3 weeks straight ... then he lost one match against inform Alcaraz and now Medvedev is a nobody with top 200 game ... Medvedev is not Federer or Nadal caliber , there is no player that can reach such height but Alcaraz might be the next one ... its super rare and we waited for such player for like 15 years ... When Nadal entered the scene he wiped Federer off and so what ? Federer had all the tools but he didnt figured out Nadal for 10 years ... Give Medvedev some credit you don't play against tennis prodigy every day

Medvedev played like a small cat yesterday. He was overdue for a drop in form, I guess. I do wish someone would get him to a barber for a shave and haircut.

Interesting as he talks about his tactic was to be patient in the match which is not his natural inclination and it served him well.
He said so, but from the highlights he seemed very aggresive to me: it was amazing how accurately he went for the corners and how hard was he hitting.

His style is aggressive ordinarily but I noticed he was less in a rush and consequently only 10 UEs.

I dont think Meds FH is as bad as everybody says as its reliable most of the time but give him some wind and he is in trouble everywhere.

The lack of spin and relying on counter-punching will work well against most impatient players but someone like Raz when he is on,
Meds has no where to hide.

Meds was like a cheap ball feeding machine standing so far back, Carlos could just tee off and drop shot at will.
Meds serve percentages were off so ended up being worse than Ferrer-gatekeeper level hitting like WTA Hsieh Su-wei.

It seems Meds last chance at a Slam was at the AO blowing the lead he had on Nadal.
He is too tall and lanky to compete with what is coming and useless on clay/grass and windy conditions.
MedZev will be the gatekeepers for the more complete all court players that are coming.

Hope to see Korda, Sinner, FAA, Thiem and Tiafoe go the Rafa Academy as time is running out for them.
The brutalist concrete Rafa Academy is ugly but has proven to get results and benefits would be fruitful
for players, Rafa's team, tennis and fans worldwide to see consistently tuned high level players.

The problem for Med is that other players can follow the Alcaraz blueprint against him. They may not do it as well, but Med’s journey through draws just got a lot tougher.

I didn't saw how other players followed the Nadal's blueprint against Federer except hitting to the backhand ... Its not that easy to fire from both wings with such power and accuracy as Alcaraz

After all the attention that "King Richard" got? You know there are so many DIY tennis parent coaches out there just dreaming of the big checks their kids won't win...
