Nadal said it's unlikely he will win 3 Slams when he comes back.

“I missed four and a half years of Grand Slams due to injury, this is the reality. But that’s also sport. That’s not why I’m better than Djokovic, because I played less,” analysed the former world No 1.

“He had a physique and a way of playing that allowed him to compete more than me. I have no choice but to recognise this, I did what I could. Sometimes I come back and win three Grand Slams, but it’s unlikely.

Alcaraz getting a win over Nadal at RG, to add to his win over Djokovic at W would be something for the future GOAT.

We are in the asterisk era now, don't forget. Djokovic inflated his stats by a lot in this era, especially in tournaments which he REALLY struggled to win during this prime/peak.
How many times did Nadal make all four slam semis.

Roger and Novak are great on all surfaces. Roger has won 23 straight qf. And Nole 14. For Nole 2011 2012 2013 2015 2021 2023 are 6 years when he did this.

How many years did Nadal make it?

Do not talk about inflation with your clay goat.

I wish Nadal the best when he returns, here's hoping he has a great 2024 so he can keep on playing.

Thing is I don't know the extent of Nadal's hip injury though then he's dealing with that foot issue also, if the movement is gone then you're a lame duck, look at Federer in 2021 with the knee issue or Murray with the hip issue.

I mean he didn’t say anything that wasn’t true or controversial there lol.

Also if you’re going to quote the man OP at least include the entire statement. Here’s a huge chunk of what he said where he’s clearly giving Joker props for taking better care of his body:

“I would change many things in my life and my career. I have made wrong decisions when it comes to protecting my physique. Djokovic, he has done better because his way of playing has allowed him to play more than me. But I was wrong for thinking that my decisions were good.”

Winning RG would be a miracle to begin with. The kind of miracle a legend like Rafa can pull off, but Rafans shouldn't get their hopes up. 3 more slams is an impossibility that's not worth discussing.

Rafa has to manage expectations and his fans should as well. We can't expect to get prime Rafa or even close to that when he comes back. My real hope is to see him win RG one last time before he retires.

And of course the Djokovidiots had to come in here and make it all about him.

I'm just hoping he has a fun return, enjoy himself on the court, remain injury free and see out his career.

But it's not just the 4 and a half years... it's also the fact that Djok pretty much got free reign on the most pathetic era known to tennis.

Sorry but DCGS after turning 33 is on the cards here... ridiculous when he couldn't even win SCGS until he was 29...

No way Rafa wins 3 slams going forward. I’ve said previously he’s done, and expect him to return and battle like a champion, but his pro tennis career will not have the same success as before.

I know it's foolish to ever count him out but Is it likely he will win even 1 Slam?
Right now anything we can say is premature. What's maybe not premature is, there would not be a situation from here onwards where Nadal will win more slams than Djokovic. And Djokovic is already 2 slams ahead.

If Nadal is fit then we can see him fighting for Roland Garros.

He'll be 38 years old if he plays RG next year, people seem to ignore that.

His obsession with slam record is showing. It's pathetic to see everytime he brings "four and half years slams missed because of injuries" whenever he mentions Djokovic ' slam record. Guy is total loser
It seems to me that most of Nadal's injury problems are his fault due to game style and poor tournament scheduling, primarily playing too many clay court tournaments fairly early in the season. Rafa is Not a loser but somewhat in denial. I also think there could be a problem with the language translation.

Clay was the foundation of his success

haha 'total loser' is maybe a little strong but...honestly it is interesting how much tapdancing he's been doing around the whole records thing...i kinda thought that of the three maybe he was the one who truly didn't care all that much...clearly not the case. kinda feel like fed wound up being the one least obsessed with it...maybe because he was forced to let the dream go of course.

He won 6 hard court slams.. Thats still among best ever.

WTF used to carry way more weight in 80s and 90s(who cared when Djokovic and Davydenko won it in 08-09?)and with it being his weakest surface its kind of logical he gave it the least attention.

Not really. I dont expect an excellent Nadal coming back. This is going to be likely his last year. Beating this Nadal at RG, while it will look good on paper, shouldnt do much for Alcaraz's legacy. It's similar to the 2015 Djokovic RG victory over Nadal; dude was a shell of his former shelf

On the spot bro, I had the same impression but what a interesting twist, who would imagine....
