Game: Rate the player

Since people love to do this so much watching 1 minute clips of people rallying, I thought I would test you. I'm going to post a video of a player and you guys can guess the NTRP. Try not to cheat and check their results as that would ruin the game. I think this first one is easy although imo girls are tricker to rate than guys:

Again don't look up the results of any players I have posted. I'll try and post all levels 3.5-7.0.

Don't look at other videos :). My friend thought she was a 5.0 from that video. He didn't believe me when I said she was a top 50 junior.

6.0 to 7.0 from what the video. Definititly over 5.5.

If I had to guess I'd say open, she looks very strong.

far out womens tennis is annoying... i mean its pretty good and all, not trying to be sexist, but is it necessary for them to make those terrible grunts every shot? i mean i know some male tennis stars do it too, which can get a bit irritating after a long time, but when the women players grunt, it sounds kinda "whingy" if you get what i mean.. and some of them sound like they're dying... ie. sharapova and serena williams, i personally cant watch these players much longer than 10-15 minutes, i personally (and i know alot of other people think this too) think that the WTA should force this out of the game... i mean, when i play tennis, i hit the ball hard most shots, but have i ever made a terrible scream/grunt? never, and do i still get alot of power out of my shots? yes, it's not necessary, i believe some of these women do it to put off their opponents... its creating a bad image for the sport, i mean some kid at school says to me
"so you love tennis ey"
and im like "yea, i train and play in tournaments etc."
and then the thing they say next is always "do you grunt and scream like the women tennis players" not in that exact wording but yea, and i reply..
"no, i hate that, its highly unnecessary"
and then alot of them complain about the grunts/screams made by the women, but some relate to it sexually e.g.
"i like to close my eyes and listen to womens tennis" and we all know what they mean..
anyway back to that vid, that women is probably hitting it as hard as i do, but is it necessary for her to make that annoying "UhAH" noise? anyway, im just spreading my POV, not trying to be sexist or ***** about it, just stating what i believe, and i know alot of you would feel the same... as for the ntrp, i'd say 5.5-6.0

I'd say Women's 5 -6.
Middle level major level college singles player ability.
How can you rate anyone really without seeing the serve, second serve, volley, overhead, and length of playing time.
We all can look OK in certain facets of our games, but the complete package takes over 5 years practice in Womens and double dat in Mens tennis.
And that "complete" package might only peek into a few rounds of the satelite tour events.
Mental toughness takes you the rest of the way, and looking at form on groundstrokes is really very irrelevant for judging over 5 level players.

Damn after the video was over it showed a related video that said "tabakova roland garros", so I knew she was very high level. I would have said at least a solid college player. I have never seen a girl hit like that in my life (at our club courts). She puts the local 4.5 women to shame.

I'd think most quarter and semi finalists, as well as finalists at JrWim would be very lucky to make it out of the first round of the actual tournament, and might do so only if the first round opponent was ranked out of the top 100 or slightly injured or burned out mentally.
Major college level, like singles for Stanford or Cal, is about 6.0 level, so they have a chance.
Remember that Stanford player last year? Where's she now?
Big difference between touring pro and top college or top world Junior playwers.

Ummm, nobody expects a junior to have the same results in the actual tournament as they do in the junior tournament...that's why they have juniors! There are some junior players who would kill just to win one round of a junior GS. Also, many of today's pros played junior GS and tournaments...not really sure what you're getting at here? Some juniors go on and some do not. But someone who gets to the semis of a junior GS is no joke.

Once you have a ranking such as her's, there really is no reason for an NTRP.

I was answering Alexio who stated she got to the semis "though" as if I'd slighted here playing ability.
So my answer was insinuating that getting to Jr semis is NOT the same as a pro player, that's all.

No, it isn't the same, but it is the route that many pro players chose to take on their way to the 'big leagues'. Still a pretty big accomplishment, and it speaks to her level and ranking.

agree with futuratennis. i can't watch women tennis anymore, not only because it's boring, but because when i have my parents around i feel ashamed cause it sounds like if i'm watching porn.

Couple years ago, I strolled into the CalBerkely women's practice and watched a bit.
#'s 1-4 singles never grunted, hit over 100 mph slightly topspin serves, crushed groundies at will over 65mph, volleyed better than any mens highschool or junior college player, RAN from sideline to sideline, hit well over 90 mph overheads, and still managed to look like coeds having a bit of fun.
And their 2 handed backhands were hit with just as much extreme top as their western forehands.
Yes, they couldn't even go 4th round qualifying for the Stanford Pro Women's tournament.
Lotsa really good tennis players in the world.

Actually, there aren't any good tennis players in the world. Federer can't return second serves, Nadal is one dimensional, and everyone else is ranked lower or doesn't have a ranking so they suck even more.

I think you may be slightly mentally challenged, although you make a point.

I would not think she has a rating. If she is playing Jr. tournaments at that level though, I would guess 6.0.

BTW, last years RG jr. finalist is currently ranked 109 on the WTA and has won a few ITF tournaments. I can't remember who won RG last year and what her ranking is.
