about beating "3 of the top 4", federer (while being himself #2) did it more recently at the WTF 2010, defeating successively #4 (soderling), #3 (djokovic) and #1 (the nadal)... and you can also add #5 (the muzzette) to the beginning of the list.
about beating "the top3", becker also did it at stockholm 1994.

Both of them are better than Nadal on hards.

Nadal however has looked solid all tournement and is playing as good as Del potro is and demolished Federer, Del potro might push him to a tie break in the first set but i dont see him having any answers to Nadal's court speed.

Coming to the match, my prediction is Nadal in 3. Del po is 6.6 and his backhand is fairly consistent so I think it will hold up well against Nadal's spin but I don't think he would have enough in the tank to last 3 sets.

Well after what he has done so far I do have to give him full credit. But he is going to have to bring more than adrenaline to beat rafa.
Regardless Rafa has done much better than I would have thought wether he wins or loses tomorrow, but he has handled delporto pretty well in their last meetings even on hard. And now that rafa is in the final he is going to be really tough to stop

Well we do know that Federer is obviously capable of giving Nadal all sorts of hell even in defeat. Federer didn't want to fight. He fought last year at Indian Wells and the WTF. Heck he even fought Nadal much tougher on clay. Even if Nadal would've beaten Federer, it would've been a much tougher match IMO.

Nadal also gave up at Indian Wells final in 2011 in that 3rd set against Djokovic. He gave up against Davydenko in the finals of Miami 2008. He laid an egg in the final against Murray in Tokyo. He took a crap against Nalbandian in the finals of Paris 2007.
Nadal isn't the warrior off clay as we'd like to think. He's literally given up against opponents. There's no reason to believe the same won't happen tomorrow if Del Potro suddenly comes at him with brute force. It's not like Del Potro hasn't blasted him off the court before.

2009 DelPo was a beast and he hit him off the court at the USO, a traditionally fast HC. This is IW and the ball's kicking up like the clay. DelPo won't be able to handle Ralph's BH abuse.

As for this final, I'm undecided who I think will win. Regardless of the result I think it's quite an achievement that Nadal has managed to make 4 consecutive finals since his comeback, especially since there were so many doubts about his form in Chile and Brazil, he has managed to improve his level throughout these tournaments, just one month ago he could barely beat a player who had a losing record on the challengers circuit and is now beating players in the top 10. His movement and speed is still hindering him and it's obvious he still has trouble with his knee, but it's good to see he is determined and motivated to win.
I know some opponents weren't playing very well, but credit has to be given to Nadal for winning these matches.
Anyways I'm happy for whoever wins tomorrow as I like both players, but will be rooting for Nadal.
