Yeah there's a few of those type of players I'm sure, haven't watched enough of Chelsea to really judge his season but obviously in that system having the right people at wing back is crucial and obviously Chelsea've been great this season so there's definitely an argument for him.

Thing with Fulham is Liverpool are linked with that 16 year old kid starting at left back for them and with them staying in the Championship it'd probably be easier to sign him and be cheaper so for that reason I'd like them not to go up. Can't say I've seen much of him, but if you are starting in the Championship at 16 for a promotion chasing team then you must have something about you.

What's your opinion on Liverpool's kit for next season?

Looks incredible imo. Always preferred Liverpool in that red and it's very simple and classy.

City had all the possession and United hit some hopeless long balls for Rashford to chase. Pretty much what I was expecting. Missed Pogba and a link from midfield to attack. Pretty rubbish game. No awe-inspiring moments, but some awe-inspiring stupidity from Fellaini.

Kinda glad I didn't see the derby even though the end result wasn't too bad. Pity Fellaini's suspension doesn't apply for the Europa League games as well.
Boring game. No prize for guessing whose negative approach contributed the most to that. ;)

If you take four points from your visits to Arsenal and Tottenham, I think you have a really good shot at top 4. After all you don't have to rely on other results yet even with this draw.

One of our longest ever unbeaten runs in the Premier League, half a year since the last loss, and we aren't in the top 4 yet. Damn those frustrating home draws. Those simply must not happen next time.

Pity Chelsea don't play any of the top 4 contenders anymore, taking some points away from our competitors would have been nice. :D

You triggered the beast, watch him now score the winning goals both in the semi and the final. :D

As for the unbeaten run, Man United just equaled their best ever run in a single season. Avoiding defeat at home to Swansea would set a new club record of 25. Unfortunately it might not mean much in the grand scheme of things this season but it's certainly impressive to go on for so long without losing any games. 7 losses so far this season in all competitions with over 50 games played isn't bad at all IMO.

Good for the stat men, I guess. Meh. Not exactly Arsenal style magnificence.

Points win prizes and we are lacking. And that's the bottom line because stone cold said so.

The beast is not going to get on again. :p

Nice stats for sure but dear God most of those numerous draws were more painful and disgusting than the actual losses.

I can't be too upset because of the improvements made. Still a chance to get into a European final. Gary Neville kept going on about resilience and I can see that. Like Jose teams, we've become hard to beat, those stats will tell you. Now that Jose will have the season under his belt it will time to expect a title challenge next season. Even if I was expecting one this season, but that was hope more than anything.

A lot of people expected the title challenge this season already, it wasn't just the supporters hoping. Unfortunately the improvements made don't fully reflect in the results. Oh well, hopefully Mou's tradition of having a successful second season with the clubs continues.

He could assemble something very powerful next season but I would already consider the current one successful if you win the Europa League. That, plus one of the cups, plus that shield which is your supercup, and the longest unbeaten run in all top leagues. Not everything is so dark. The expectations will always be high since Manchester United are a huge club but even those will go through bad or less impressive periods at some point in time.

I watched a bit of the post-match talk that had Lampard, Henry and Neville. Frank made some comparisons with Mourinho's 2nd period at Chelsea and talked how the first focus was getting the defense organized especially with the lack of options in attack. Long ball, defend, repeat. Back then he orchestrated those dull games, most notably the goalless draw in the semifinal 1st leg against Atletico and that game at Anfield that denied Liverpool the title. He did something similar this season when visiting Liverpool and City and got a point in both. Next season the target will be going for all three when the squad gets upgraded. Even though the defense is solid he will probably strengthen all areas. When it comes to attackers it's Griezmann, Morata and James who were recently mentioned in the rumors. Considering the club will always attract big names, I wouldn't be surprised at all if one of these comes this summer.

With a lot of games this season and the team suffering several injuries, playing to just avoid defeat in some games isn't the worst approach. But in the long term it would be really bad for Manchester United, especially considering they were one of the most attacking and fluid teams back when Sir Alex was the manager. Got to get back to those days.

True. He will probably need a force like he had in Real in order to entertain the idea of a more attacking approach more. We'll see, both him and Pep will have a point to prove next season after not being in the title race in this one.

The whole idea of playing away and aiming for a point against a chief rival. There can be no problems as long as United accumulate enough points elsewhere. But yeah, fully in agreement, anybody that is expecting Jose to go all out attack or even aim for a win against the big boys are dreaming. No matter if United have a Phil Neville dream team to select from. Jose is never going to do that.

Very interested to see how City respond next year.

Also, Slice'n'dice. How is your addiction coming along? Been able to wean yourself off it any? I'm back in the game. Can't really believe how my current season has ended up. I got knocked out of champions league, finished group stage third and went into Europa. Lost QF away 3-1 (Sporting) and lost semi away 4-1. (Dortmund) Turned them both around at the fortress San Siro. Won the final pretty convincingly.

Didn't make one signing this season. It was a sort of challenge to myself. Certain results told me I needed to upgrade the squad during the season, but I didn't make any in January. Carried on and managed to overtake Juventus and Atalanta. It all came down to the final day. All 3 of us having a chance to win the title. All I needed was a point and I was at home. phew. Beat Fiorentina 1-0 with a Kean goal. You've probably seen him in the game. One of the hottest young studs. Great scenes. No bans on transfer this time. I will take another break for a week or so and get ready to challenge on all fronts again. I have made Milan rich again. I had 5 million to spend in season 1 and now they offer me up to 150 million.

Meanwhile, to the shock of nobody. Celtic are kicking Rangers ass.

City are an interesting one. Guardiola is very set on his philosophy, the Barcelona way if you like. They'll probably bring in defenders who are more suited to it next season, but even so, I'm not sure it'll get the same results over 38 games in England.

I remember when Barcelona were at their peak and they always had a tough time of things with Chelsea in Europe, who were strong and physical. The Premier League is full of teams like that (even if they don't have the same quality). Will they ever be able to play the Guardiola way consistently? I'm not so sure.

They could do well in Europe though, maybe that's what the owners want.

Very important win against Valencia today. Could have easily gone 2-0 up but missed several opportunities, including a penalty from Ronaldo. They leveled in the 81st minute but Marcelo's great strike won the game. Valencia's goalkeeper is insane btw, that's his 5th penalty save from 10 penalties he faced this season. In his entire La Liga career he has around 50% saving success, denying 20+ out of 40+.

We have a first official winner of the biggest leagues. Bayern have won a 27th Bundesliga and their 5th in a row, both records. Carlo Ancelotti only has four league titles in his managing career, but he has won in four different countries. Shame he missed out on it in Spain, the only place where he failed to be the domestic champion. Happy to see him and his team celebrating after they got screwed in Europe.

Not a pretty 3-0 win but the squad did the job against Espanyol. Can't see Real slipping in the remaining games. Our rivals showed higher quality in some of the previous seasons and we still managed to beat to titles but we might only end up with the cup now. Even when the only consistent player in the team is Messi, the season isn't likely to be successful. The last 10-12 years have spoiled the Blaugrana probably, but this season should be a wake up call. The rest of the guys need to step up and we need some quality reinforcements. Whether it's from La Masia or transfers I don't care much right now. Neither one of the La Liga giants wants to be inferior even for a year and it would feel really ugly for me personally if Real got both the domestic and continental throne in this one. Not just because they are our sworn enemies, but because many times they simply didn't look convincing, and of course because of that circus against Bayern.

That's what I'm interested in. The pundits keep talking about an ageing team and not enough time to leave his mark. That is all fair, even if there is no time to get things right in the world of today. The woman on Sunday supplement was talking the other week and she said what else has Pep done apart from turn the greatest premier league player ( Aguero) into a lamer? She didn't use those words exactly, but you catch my drift.

Of course, not all situations are the same. Conte has come in and been successful in his first season. Pep can show if he has the makings of a successful premier league boss next season. Make sure everybody is on board with his philosophy and some signings. Needs a new keeper desperately. :D

I will watch every Real game now till the end of the season. Gonn' be pissed if they give up the league after that abhorrent defeat in el clasico and then don't even nail the CL.

I expect Juve to win the CL anyway.

Aguero has had a pretty good season for someone who's lost it :p but I get what she's saying. I think Guardiola's inability to adapt has been what's cost him. They keep getting beaten the same way, making the same mistakes etc.. He doesn't have the players to play the way they're doing, so why do it?

A manager should squeeze every bit of talent out of his players, work with what he has and put them in the best conditions to succeed. Sending them out every week like he does means they're on a hiding to nothing.

You mention Conte, who has got it right. He gave the players the chance to show last year was a fluke by essentially playing the same style and system they've been used to for the first 2 months of the season.. It was every bit as bad as last year, so then he changed it. I'm not sure it would of worked if he came in like a bull in a china shop from day one and tried to change it all. His favourite formation is actually 3-5-2 with two strikers, but we don't have the players to play that (too short in midfield and nobody to play with Costa), so he hasn't played it. Instead he's found a way to get Hazard slightly more central and not have to do as much defensive work. Essentially making the best of what he has to work with as a manager, which is how it should be imo.

Morons. All of them. Should have gone empty handed completely.

Now let's see our under 18s in the Europa League.
Lifeless from United. If anyone should have won the game it should have been Swansea.

Seriously, all these games are killing them. They should really consider going all out on the Europa League and taking it easy in the league. They are more likely to go back to 6th than to finish top 4 now with their recent performance and upcoming schedule. Playing every fourth or fifth day on average is damaging when you are in a more physical league.

Losing Bailly would be awful. Rojo is done for the season while Smalling is a question mark. Luckily we are getting back some options in attack. Pogba will return on Thursday while Mata was on the bench today.

I still think in the end that his do or die approach could be helped by having a decent goalkeeper. :p There is a Benny Hill video out there that has some of Joe Hart's gaffes. There has to be an extended version for Bravo and Caballero. Might look for it later.

Do agree that Sunday supplement woman was over the top, even if it was said during that period he wasn't scoring.

So now Tottenham can't finish below Arsenal even if they wanted to. I wonder if the FA Cup would save Wenger's job.

Nice leading PSG 2-0 with half an hour to go. This could be a decisive day in Ligue 1 title race. If the result stays the same, Monaco would have 3 points more with one game in hand (they have 4 more and PSG 3 more). I would love to see them hold on for their first league since 2000.

It's safe to say that the Premier League title race is now over. A very impressive win for Chelsea at Goodison Park. This was only Everton's second home league defeat of the season.

Still it was good to see Tottenham getting a convincing win over Arsenal though to maintain their long winning streak in the league. They will comfortably finish with more than 80 points this season which will be a nice achievement. It's worth remembering that out of the Premier League's top 6 teams, Spurs have by far the lowest wage bill:

1) Man City £225 million
2) Man Utd £220.8 million
3) Chelsea £218 million
4) Arsenal £200.5 million
5) Liverpool £165.6 million
6) Tottenham £121.2 million

I didn't even think that they'd finish in the top 4 again this season, given how much money the two Manchester clubs in particular have spent, so they've well and truly proved me wrong and deserve all the plaudits coming their way. I just hope that they can win a trophy soon whether it is the league or a cup competition. They've only won one trophy in the past 18 seasons since 1999, the 2008 league cup.

It's been really good from Spurs, I thought the same after what the two Manchester clubs did last summer too. I don't think the wages really mean anything though, personally. If you're paying Kane, Eriksen, Alli etc.. On the value they've shown themselves to be worth over the last few years, it would be the same as the other big clubs.

Kind of like when a team in a North American sports league gets things right with young players on relatively cheap contracts. When it comes time to renegotiate them they're astronomical or they move on to a different team. With there being no salary cap in England they can afford to do that, so yeah, it'll even out before long.

I'm interested to see how they do next year playing at Wembley, where they have an awful record. Their home record is their biggest strength, but it's not likely to be as big of a factor next year.

What their fans are going through indeed. Not all that bad really all things considered. Imagine being a Sunderland fan for instance, that is tough times being a football fan. Or Coventry the **** they have had to deal with of late. Or Portsmouth a few years ago. A bit of stagnation and possible finishing outside the top 4 for the first time in in 21 years or however long, really isn't that bad.

Arsenal are in trouble either way either way. Sanchez and Ozil going in the summer, they won't get top 4 next season. Assuming they miss out this season then that's two years outside. Gets tougher and tougher to get back in the more you start to finish outside. If I was an Arsenal fan, I'd probably want another season with a specialist in top 4 to steady the ship. But that's looking at it rationally from the outside. When it's your club and all the emotion involved it's hard to look at it rationally.

What has Luke Shaw done to make Jose Mourinho hate him so much. I know he chose Man Utd over you when you were at Chelsea but come on man. Let it go.

Big business and they continue to get that champions league coin. Like any team owner really care about their ''fans'' lolz. These supporters can fly as many helicopters during matches and chant whatever they like about Wenger. All about the bottom line. That is why it has been put up with and maybe now he is only under serious threat because champions league could be out of reach.

Goal of the season candidate tonight. Emre Can with a wonderful strike against Watford.

Talking about goals, today is exactly 12 years since Messi's first goal for Barcelona. Time flies so fast, we have witnessed 12 years of magic since then and will continue to do so in the future.
