Nah. He’s utterly boring. You have Fedal who were “nice and well mannered” who were very charismatic personalities.
Sinner is a great player and will very likely go down as an ATG, but he’s got the charisma of a fruit fly.
Sinner's game is spectacular to watch. You don't need a personality when you play like that.
Besides, what personality and charisma did Djokovic, Murray, and Del Potro have? None.

You have to be like Djokovic to beat Djokovic. That was the consensus.
Sinner is basically his clone.
Other than Djokovic himself, I can't see many guys on the tour stopping Sinner with the way he's playing right now.
The only other one is Alcaraz and he's hot and cold lately.
I always thought next player to beat Djokovic would hit 100+ mph fh on frequent basis. Alcaraz fits the bill.

Never expected someone more similar to Djokovic coming up so soon.

Dimitrov had no business being in the Miami final.
Alcaraz was messing around at parties with NBA players the day before and not taking things seriously.
Otherwise it would've been Alcaraz/Sinner in the final.

No

Alcaraz has a lot of time to reach top of tennis. Dimitrov was able to outhit him and demolished him so he deserved to be in the final.

Even if Raz didn't attend NBA, he was getting beaten down by Dimitrov.

It wasn't that soon.
Everyone on this forum was discussing Sinner all the way back to 2019 when he won the NexGen Final.
He's 22 now and won the AO.
Nadal, Djokovic, Alcaraz and others won Slams at an earlier age.

A pretty BH is all well and good, but if it can't be used to take down a Sinner, then
it's sheeite.

Peak Guga would have no problem beating Sinner on any surface.

I didn’t watch the first set. Did Dimitrov at least try to bring Sinner into the net or come to the net?
Dimitrov was trying. Had a couple early BP opportunities. After he couldn't convert, Sinner took over from there.
Dimitrov is talented and has a powerful game but he doesn't have anything close to a champion's mentality.

But it does not work like that. Athletes peaks at different age. Some earlier, some later. In all sports. Now, I think Alcaraz is great, but this constant discussion about 20 months difference is pretty useless
Its not everything, but regarding experience, It does work like that, Alcaraz has shown what he can do, now he just needs the experience, yeah his serve Will probably never be as effective as sinners but thats not everything either, of course theres nothing granted but so isnt sinners domination

I unfortunately had to miss this match. I had a family dinner to attend. I was hoping to catch the third set, thinking it’d be tied at 2 sets each after 2 hours. Nope. I see that Sinnee absolutely wrecked Dimi in under 2 hours.

Congrats to Sinner for a great win. I guess I will wait to catch the rerun on Tennis Channel.

Your time was more productively spent at dinner.
If you do start to watch the match on TC you will become bored by the time the second set starts.

Here’s perhaps a fun fact for those Sinner fans out there. I was shocked to see these results. I decided to compare the Dominance Ratio of Sinner in 2024 through Miami to that of the hard court GOAT Djoker and the #2 hard court player ever(Federer) through Miami. I picked 2011 and 2015 for Djoker and I picked 2006 and 2017 for Federer.

From the beginning of the year through Miami, sorted by Dominance Ratio:

2011 Djokovic 1.49
2024 Sinner 1.46
2015 Djokovic 1.45
2006 Federer 1.38
2017 Federer 1.35

Sinner is in damn good company regarding dominance. Yeah, I know. It’s early. But Sinner is truly having a historic start to his season.

Congrats to a job well done by Jannik.

Sinner is now a top-notch tennis package with a good head on his shoulders. I had previously
been worried a little about movement, but it's gotten pretty good and is getting better.
Very nice work, Jannik and Co. The French could be more interesting than I previously
expected.

I condensed the replay down to five minutes. Once Dimi did the Mug move of failing to convert an early break point (2-1, 30-40) and then getting broken the next service game I figured its Mug City so I skipped ahead to the end. :sneaky:

Never heard Eggdal say they felt like a winner after a beatdown.

What Carrot Boy did was wrong (but he did well).

Not sure why Alien's nemesis is being so hyped after this win, it was NID match. Grigs is a grandpa at this point, he shouldn't have been there.

Sinners pace and weight of shot proving too much for dimitrov.
Unlike Zverev, Sinners fh isn't flaky and he actually moved forward behind his shots and volleyed away dimitrovs stretched defensive slice bhs.

He’s short. His serve is never going to be on the same tier as Federer or Sampras. What Carlos has over Sinner is better touch and better retrieving ability.
By that logic Sinner should have been better than Alcaraz is when he was his age but he absolutely wasn't.

Much like Jannik is meme'd at the net, Alcaraz is at the service side of his game. Neither is too bad especially the serve od the latter. It's getting better and it will continue to get better noticeably by the time he is the same age as Sinner.

You might be right that sinner and Carlos are underrated in respective departments

But a serve is probably 10 times more important than a net game. You have to admit it's the most important shot in tennis. And Carlos is among the easiest ones to return right now.

Let's see what will happen in the future.

I missed the match due to time zone, but I would say finally we have a normal result. Dimitrov beating Alcaraz and Zverev was an anomaly. He has been doing that a lot recently, making a few upsets but running out of steam before the finishing line. No doubt that Sinner is now on the ascent. Very exciting times lie ahead.
PS: I did guess the right outcome, along with 49 other members. That was to be expected.
