Was asleep when the match took place. How long was the match (time) and how well did Nadal play?

Will the "Schwartzman affect" happen again next round?

What Nadal is doing on clay this year is truly incredible. Hard to see anyone stopping him in Madrid.

Of course, anything can happen in tennis. But the gap between him and the field looks so big that you'd think he can have an off day and still win comfortably.

All I know is I want the sun to be out so we can see if Rafa can get his forehand to bounce up higher than Schwartzman's head.

World number 1 Rafael Nadal takes on Diego Schwartzman tomorrow in the round of 16. Rafael Nadal leads the H2H 4-0, with one match played on clay. If Rafael Nadal wins in two sets, he breaks the record of most consecutive sets won on one surface. (John McEnroe currently holds the record at 49 sets in a row on carpet)

Schwarzsman to stuff Nadal into his Schwarzschild black hole radius for the infinite probability win.

Pre Monte-Carlo I actually liked the thought of this match up. Nadal has had trouble with youth and speed in the recent past with Chung and Nishioka taking him to tiebreakers last Spring.
Taking Rafa to a TB is an achievement! Lol. Even the commentators use him as their benchmark. To all intents and purposes, Rafa must be the GOAT, if there has to be a GOAT.

Fedr GOAT.
The number of slams won in itself is meaningless you have to take into account the total number of slams played as well. Even the number of weeks at #1 has asterisks against it.

Why do the commentators not use Federer as their benchmark?

Good one! Tell that to the tennis analysts and historians! They'd laugh you out of planet Earth.

Get an antacid to control that bile!

I really hope that the Nadal vs. Schwartzman QF is short and easy and the Cilic vs. Del Potro QF is long and brutal and saps both of them (especially the winner) of all their energy so they will be spent for the SF. I need a Nadal vs. Thiem final! :)

Final score: Nadal wins over Schwartzman: 6-3, 6-2, 6-2!

You know all about bile.

Yes, but I assess things reasonably and don't make absurd statements like "the number of slams won is a meaningless thing."

Just sit patiently back and first see if Nadal will win this FO. He has an 80% chance but for the first time in over a decade, I have a strange feeling that it may not be a lock for him.

When Rafa has played a total of 72 slams like Federer we will see how many slam titles he gets. I don't know if you understand percentages and ratios but this is how it works:
Right now Rafa has won 16 titles out of 52 played and Federer has won 20 out of 72 played. Nadal has an 87% success rate in slams and Federer has 86%.

Rafa is already a black hole when it comes to clay titles, Schwartzman would be wise to keep Rafa at the macroscoping level.

Well beyond simple percentages and ratios, we’re in the realm of particle physics - quantum probabilities.

The probability Rafa continues to keep at his career percentage as he gets older is extremely small.

Queen ... 16/52 and 20/72 are nowhere close to a 80% success rate. How did you calculate that?

It's their Win/Loss % of total matches played.

Ok got it now. As Hydrocella stated, it'll be difficult for Nadal or for any player, to maintain their winning % as they age so we'll have to see how that plays out. But the winning % for Nadal and Federer is phenomenal.

Nadal is going to destroy Diego. I just can't see Rafa losing. Nadal will hammer anyone that gets in his way, It's the battle for second place right now.

I can't really see anyone beating Nadal, I think he will win his 17th grand slam comfortably. In around 2-3 years, he'll end up with 21-22 GS, surpassing Roger.
