Eeesh, I wake up and see that Zverev beat Federer on indoor hard?

OK, Federer needs to just retire at Wimbledon 2020 or perhaps Basel already and be done with it.

Time to start playing McEnroe, Agassi, Roddick, and Hewitt on the Champions tour.

It's the back-end of the season and all the slams are out of the way - at this stage in their career, it's understandable that the top 3 are predominantly focused on the slams. The 'NextGen' have a bunch of wins over the Big 3, but let's see that translate to beating them at a slam and winning the event to back it up.

You again bring such stuff...Yes, Nadal got tight when he was up a break in the third set, and he had a few bad misses. However, after that Medvedev really started GOATing. He didn't forgive Nadal that few mistakes and didn't give another chance for a long time. Nadal really had to take the match from in the fifth.

You of all the people is saying that. I can't believe it. You do watch the matches don't you? Did you see how Nadal choked in the 4th set trying to hold serve. His forehands barely cleared the net. One of them bounced twice before reaching the other side of the net. His first serve % went into the 40s. He was just hoping for Medvedev to miss and choke the match away.
5th set Nadal recovered. But even then he almost got broken twice. Imagine the BH CC Nadal hit on BP in the 5th set ( Medvedev had a BP). What if that had landed out? Then even in the final game of the 5th set, Nadal did not get first serve in until the end.
Medvedev was playing decent and just taking advantage of Nadal getting tight. You make it sound that Medvedev suddenly became a world beater.

Nadal choked a 5-2 lead twice against Diego. His UsOpen 2019 performance was nowhere close to his best. He has played far better in slams that he has lost.

I don't know which match people being critical of Fed were watching. Zverev played well. I just hope he doesn't go on a walkabout in the next round and forget how to be aggressive and hit passing shots. He took risks today and, as Fed said after the match, kept it positive. A positive Zverev is someone to be feared on the tour. I hope this is a turning point. Frankly, I think the Laver Cup had a lot to do with this match. Think positive, Ziraffe, and you will win. You will also be more likable doing so.

RF:“The penalty point was just something that happened today, it wasn‘t something that changed the outcome, I was behind in the result but won the game anyways, Zverev put me away today, NOT the umpire“

BS ... they would never give a man a point penalty like that ... oh wait ...

Kyrgios fake dropshot? Are you kidding me dude? Fed has been doing that before Kyrgios was on tour. How about actually watching tennis matches instead of only mindlessly praising the "next gen" all the time.
You mean matches from 15 years ago?:D Saw Berrettini do a very nice one on Zverev today.:p

Federer was a bit of a jerk and I say that as a huge fan. He knew he wasn't playing well and he was frustrated with himself. Should have just obliterated a racket, taken the code violation and got on with it. Played amazing to win that second set but the rest was way subpar for him. Zverev was the clear winner.

One thing I dont know if it has been brought up. About an hour before the match, there was some very light drizzle that lasted about 10 minutes when I was watching Thiem practice for the second match of the night. When I head for dinner, I noticed the roof was closed. To me there was really no reason to close it. Perhaps the organizer wanted Fed to win and an indoor condition would favor Fed? What a conspiracy! jk.

BTW not sure how it was like on TV, but in the 2nd set the atmosphere was absolutely crazy. The entire stadium was cheering for Fed. The roof was almost blown off. Never seen anything like that much less experience it in person. It was quite an experience.

Yeah rarely do you see Fed lose his cool. He really wanted to win it.

Fed is just a salty baby now since choking away his legacy at Wimby 19. Sad to see a legend fall off the cliff so shamelessly.

Sad to see such a insensitive comment. Fed has NOT choked his legacy away. What he showed in Wimbledon 2019 was TRULY remarkable. He dominated his younger rivals: Nadal and Djokovic - despite being much older.
The level of tennis he produced was unreal. Novak or Nadal won't last until they are 38. But even if one of them does, they won't be able to produce 50% of the tennis that Fed did in Wimbledon.

Yes, the final result didn't go Fed's way. He was desperately unlucky. But there was no doubt as to who the best player in the tournament was. If there was ever a match where the loser deserved to win - it was the Wimb 2019 Final.
Fed did himself and his fans proud by showing why he is the grass GOAT, and he will always have his 8 Wimbledon titles - no one can take that away. And BTW - I'm not even a Fed fan.

I have only two questions:
1. what happened to dropshoterer? Zedrot was back in his customary 2m+ behind the baseline position in a lot of rallies. Yet Fed decided not to dropshot him into submission like in their previous encounters.
2. was that 2nd set not purely the most fraudulent performance ever by l'ancien fraudeur? I've never seen him play so badly and then pull out five or six GOAT-level points to stay in a match.
