They make noises during the serve, that's why Medvedv was not happy.

Well at least he ended it on a good note. Totally tightened up serving for it though. This match is the reason why I say the Djokovic forehand is so underrated. Totally dominated Medvedev with that shot in the last 2 sets. Also, his improved volleying skills were on full display today. Very good and entertaining final. Turin should be lit.
It's the shot that can make or break Djokovic in my opinion. When it goes missing he's relegated to defending and the wheels have declined considerably.

Also saw him rip some backhand for the first time in a long time this week.

Its officially confirmed.
Unless his first serve is working, Medvedev has got nothing on groundies to trouble even the 35yo Djokovic.

Congratulations serb for winning 38th Masters 1000.

Volleying skills aren't improved at all, its just that he used them a lot against Medvedev. Quite comfortably so, given the very light ball the Russian hits (easy to put away) and his way back court posting with weak return.

Yea the Djokovic forehand is his killer shot from the ground imo. His backhand is not what it used to be. I think he could pull a Federer and run around that backhand more than he does. I think he had 24 winners to Medvedev's 11 on the forehand, and he was 24/11 in winners to errors ratio in that shot. Just impeccable stuff.

Considering that about 10 of those UEs came in the last 5 games or so, Medvedev had a pretty sparkling ratio.
They both played very well outside a couple muggy 0-40 service games, I don’t think Medvedev should be too disheartened at all, but it’s clear he has to serve better to win imo

His backhand is still amazing, but in the current field it doesn't stand out that much anymore. A lot of guys have great and flat backhands now and in a cross court rally 2 handers tend to not hurt each other that much and it's the DTL that does it, but his own DTL tends to be kinda neutral these days.

After a 3 slam season? Sure is a big deal. He keeps winning and secured another record.
Yeah this has been a massive week for Djokovic. Sealed the record 7th year end no1 and took the lead in masters titles record with 36. He also managed to beat currently his biggest rival and get his revenge for us open. It’s a very sweet and important week for Novak.

I think the big difference between this match and the US Open were Med's serve and Djokovic's playing with less pressure. He looked quite relaxed throughout, smiling/applauding on Med's unbelievable winners.

Med's serve not quite the same level. At the USO his serve even when not serving an ace, sets up a big advantage to start the rally. Of course, Djokovic's looked very flat also at the USO.

Great revenge win!

I don't know what game you are watching, but his volleying skills are much improved. We saw it in AO and Wimbledon especially. Ivanisevic has clearly turned out to be a great addition to his team because he has helped him improve that.

Yea for sure. It's a huge win and he did it in such a great fashion with all court tennis. It's not just the win that is huge, but how he played. He was using the net so much today and varied his shots from the baseline. Djokovic ain't going away anytime soon.

He had 8 winners to 13 errors on the backhand today. He's losing points more from that side and it is not as deadly nor consistent as it was at his peak. It's still a good shot, but it's the one shot that has declined the most to me. It's not as good on courts where the bounce is lower and he seems to hit it better on medium to higher bouncing courts these days.
